Sorry its late, if you and a friend are on at the same time. Then can you issue orders to your drivers? Or is all of online B-Spec mode watch only?

Nobody knows yet. The browser B-Spec mode is watch only.
There might be a separate B-Spec online mode like normal online races, but with AI drivers

There is confirmed B-spec right? I like B-spec, especially during the 24 hrs. of Nuremberg and a few others, bc I would do the first few hours, go to sleep, wake up and finish it up, and I love B-spec bc the computer posts very nice lap times. While the AI, sucks at making passes, I usually ended up like numerous laps ahead or more on B-spec when I woke up.

^Why does it bother you that there is B-Spec? You don't have to use, but it's another thing to say it shouldn't be there when others can use it to great advantage.

Exactly - I wouldn't have completed some of the longer endurance races in GT4 without the mini-B-spec mode!

@Man Turismo, it seems that while in a race it works in exactly the same way as GT4 - you can tell your driver to push for the overtake, save their tyres and so on. You used to get some pretty good timing information too.

Still might be too early to ask, with online not being up long.

But can anyone confirm, if playing via browser is working?

and...

It's not working yet. I set my driver and cars to be online, but couldn't find how to race them, then I found this:-

*The service for remote race is planned to made available in December 2010.
* To host a remote race, you must be signed in to the PlayStation®Network.

Actually the UK site says:-
*This feature enables the remote operation of "Gran Turismo 5" from a web browser, and requires "Gran Turismo 5" to be running on the "PlayStation 3" displaying the remote race screen.
*Also, although it is possible to check race progress and results by text, you cannot see the live race images during the race from a web browser.

So it seems you need to leave your PS3 on all day :(

I really am lost with this rubbish, I thought it had a place in GT4, but I am very confused what you are meant to do - what this whole Hot & Cold bar means and how to manage it. Feel a bit left out in the cold as far as this feature is concerned - along with many others in this game, does anybody want to give me a plebs run down of how to get the most out of B-Spec Bob?

Anyone know what the icon's next to your driver are? One points upwards, one points horizontal, and one point downwards.

The in-game manual says that it indicates whether the driver is in good or bad "form". It is probably something to help depict in what stage a driver's career currently is on their developmental curve and therefore help indicate whether they need to be forced to retire.

Getting pretty annoyed with this mode. The driver does really dumb crap like driving into walls and gets annoyed way too easily.

I know what you* mean BoostedM3...

At first, he's like your sisters A.D.D-ridden child who just likes to destroy everything...
...but it gets better...

I never give my driver a car that I would have trouble handling with all assists off (b/c the b-spec driver has no assists)...I try to stick to nice FF or AWD cars if I can, or if I must use a FR car, I try to use one that handles nicely (ie: the Toyota FT-86 concept...nice hp, easy handling)...

I always go for traction over hp b/c the b-spec drivers normally flub-up with too much hp...

In a race, I try to keep their bar at 3/4 maximum potential...I use a lot of Pace Down to keep them calm at that level. That way, he doesn't make stupid mistakes that often.

ATM, I have 3 lvl 9 drivers, and they can drive better than I can in certain situations...A lot of it is just time-consuming "wait-and-see" approach. I've lost a few races, but they gain a lot of exp even if they lose.

Am I the only one enjoying this? I have my guy J.Stone doing races all the time. I got golds on Sunday Cup finally and am starting to figure out the strategy. It is going to be pretty cool when I can use all of my racers to make some crazy money. ;) And the endurance races will be awesome too.

It would be easier if you select the name, 10 minutes just to get Senna and Schumacher.

Yea, I would agree on that. I'm not sure why they don't just let you choose from a list or create your own name. But overall I have fun doing something on my laptop while letting Bob do his thing.

you guys are on to something. I've been too lazy to play for the past 2 hours. I'm gonna turn on the sixaxis while I'm sitting here on GTP and let Bob win me some cash.

Anyone know how to lanuch an Online B-Spec race against friends b-spec drivers? I can't seem to find an option for it but the GT website said we woul dbe able to do this. Maybe I need to be higher level or maybe it is offline to save server bandwidth or something.

Anyone know anything about this?

If you were 30+, had a job, wife, kids, family obligations and such you would fully understand my point.

agreeeed :)

Well I've decided to let my B-Spec driver get some track time, but by god he sucks. Autum ring he is all over the place he is trashing the car every time. I tell him to back off and take a steady pace but he just has to try and overtake. To be fair he is only a Lvl 1 but he needs more time to get good. Any good tips?

There's a huge glitch on Fuji Speedway where the AI just slams on the brakes and sits there if it's got its wheels on the rumble strips at certain parts of the track. The worst part is that your B-Spec driver does it too.

Yep, my driver did this about 10 minutes ago, going through the chicane towards the end of the lap he just parked on the kerb and let everyone past. I think B Spec in general is pretty flawed at low levels to be honest, you're hiring a racing driver so I'd expect him to be able to drive the track without slamming into the barriers every few corners.

In my honest opinion B-spec is the biggest waste of space ever put in a game. Even to get to level 10 seems like it would take an eternity and it's just not enjoyable. Also, in the beginning, the only way to win is by putting your driver in a car thats way faster that the AI cars.

It's a bit sad because I won't be getting 100% in GT5 because B-spec is such nonsense.
