I'm assuming most people just think that the only person that would run up to their tank is someone who is going to do damage so they panic and jump out to shoot them. I just use the defibrillator so I'm not holding my gun and it looks like I'm doing something.

It does annoy me sometimes when they jump out because I know there will be people on my team who do the same thing.

Looks like you are going to throw some C4's at them, tried to do some support today but every time I pulled out my C4 they just floored it

And I had a funny moment at the beginning of a game on Golmud Railway. I hopped in a tank and threw out 2 shots at a chopper but was obviously going to fail, then all of a sudden I had a kill

You could play it how I've played it recently, but you'd have to have a computer near you to keep track. What I do is open the battlelog website when I'm going to play, go to my stats, and when the weapon list loads, I click the unlocks sorting column. Then I pick the top primary weapon and handgun from that list to use in the round I'm joining. Then when that round is over, I repeat the weapon unlock sorting to see if the top of the list has changed, and if it has I pick the next weapon that shows at the top.

It mixes things up and keeps the game a bit more interesting. It's a strategy I haven't used since Bad Company 2. It's also how I got pretty decent at hitting guys from close range with a sniper rifle without needing to aim-down-sights.
I have already 'mastered' all the assault rifles, getting the master dog tag +10 kills to get the last battlepack, and now have started on the Carbines to do the same.
I've taken out my good old GTP_ account, PS+ and Premium are on the PS4 so that's a good thing. It was funny how a BF4 'noob' could dominate so much with so little. http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/battlereport/show/32/502072206090719936/1122339441/
I think I made some people really angry there.

On the tank stealing subject, I do or try to do that a lot being assault as well. And it works amazingly well. :mischievous:
I still got this on my PC from when I did it to a friend of mine.

Now that Battlefield appears to be much more stable, playing on European servers is possible for me again. :D I just need to work on my accuracy and slowing down my R2 presses when using DMRs. Keep getting into situations where I'm exceeding the fire limit of the weapon and getting killed because of it.. or I'm just missing shots...

Maybe premium will go on sale at a time that I can afford it... or at the very least, I'll get premium instead of even considering Hardline.

Maybe not buy premium anymore. I hardly play the first 3 DLC's anymore, and haven't played them, by far, as much as I played on the latest one, Dragon's Teeth. That DLC is just amazing IMO.

Guess that's a good point. By then it wouldn't be worth getting premium as the game would be dying down anyway, and this isn't like BF3 where the one gun I wanted to use was in the DLC.

You're not exceeding the fire rate of the weapon, you're pressing R2 again before it completely returns to its proper position. This was a huge complaint on the BF4 PS4 forums. The burst-fire weapons suffered because of the trigger being assigned to R2. Now we (finally!) have the option to go back to R1 and R2. I've switched back and burst fire weapons are much more pleasing to use. AKU-12 is the jam!

Wasn't aware of that. Guess I'll swap the button assignments and see if that makes a difference.

Jep, I switched to L1 and R1 as well.
Just know it's an overall switch, it includes driving vehicles.
Shooting with the infi armor or a tank is with L2 then and that took the most getting used to for me.

EDIT:
And be prepared for a lot of throwing granades instead of going ADS.

What do you mean by it? The R2 button or the weapon?

Tried the game with the swapped shoulder buttons. Felt it wasn't worth switching everything just to shoot a gun with R1 over R2. I'll just be more aware of my trigger pressing and make sure not to over do the mashing.

The fact they made R1 an option for the trigger again instead of R2 is what brought me back to BF4 on PS4. It's been R1 in almost every PS console shooter around. The R2 trigger issue has cost me so many deaths. It's hard to kill someone if your gun doesn't fire. It's one issue with Burst-fire primaries, but it is made even worse when you have the same issue with pistols. Why have a high fire rate burst or single shot weapon in the game if the platform it's on can't handle the button layout you assign to it?

Finally completed Recon Expert last night.

Scored at least 1 Marksman ribbon in a match, before a Dawnbreaker session snagged me 3 more to complete the assignment.

It's the way DICE set parameters on the triggers. Understandably you have to release the trigger at least partially before firing again, but having to fully release is lazy coding. I'd be ok if the reset point was around 50-75% of the trigger return movement.

Still though.. I don't want to drive vehicles with R1/L1 which kills the swap for me.

I just got Engineer Expert last time I played, I managed to find a pretty good chopper pilot and sat in his scout heli for three entire rounds in a row. My ratio wasn't so great... Recon Expert took me ages, mainly because I decided to get guaranteed headshots on Op Firestorm, sniping from the mountain outside my spawn to the other. Super easy consistent >900m headshots with the CS-LR4, 20x scope and rangefinder.

I had officially one of the most insane BF moments over the weekend.

I was locked onto a helicopter and just at the very second I fired the rocket, a jet flew right into the rocket killing the helicopter and jet. Giving me an instant double kill.

If you have access to my files, check out "Incredible jet kill". Love being able to instantly save the video with "xbox record that". :)

I really enjoyed my time on BF4, Sure it wasn't up to par straight away but it was incredible at times, especcially when i stepped up to PS4. it is still my favorite ever FPS I would say, just eclipsing BF3.

So let's say, hypothetically, that I want to make the effort to unlock some more LMGs; what's a good mode for it? Conquest and TDM (the two modes I play most often) involve too much running around and I don't know if it's just me but every LMG I've used is too slow (rate of fire and to draw after sprinting) and too inaccurate to be properly competitive against assault rifles, carbines and PDWs, and now there's the Desert Eagle to contend with as well... I've had quite a few kills with the U100 (comparatively speaking, I've only got around 80-odd) but the other heavy assault rifle types and the belt-feds just seem very meh to me. I've only unlocked the Type 88 and LSAT (though I do have the M249, AWS, M60-E4 and RPK-74M as well) so far and besides the U100 I have a combined total of 46 kills between those LMGs...

Do you have to be defending something to get the best from them, or is there a trick to them that I haven't worked out yet? Every time I try to use them I get a few hits on target but I usually get outgunned due to a combination of a higher rate of incoming fire and the accuracy going way off after only a few shots - but if I fire in bursts, the rate of fire difference becomes much, much larger...

I have 3 servicestars with the RPK-12, 4 with the M240B, 5 with the AWS and 6 with the MG4

The RPK is more like an assault rifle with a big clip (60 rounds) IMO.
If I would recommend a LMG it would be one of the two latter I mentioned above.
The AWS has very little recoil IIRC, and you can tapfire it very easy for medium-long ranges. Take it out on the test range and take a couple taps on a distanced wall. Go look at your impacts and try again. This way you can really find the correct/best seqeunce of tapfires to lay down targets at certain distances.

I don't feel you need to be in one particular mode/situation.to get the most out of the LMGs, I think they are very powerful.in this game and can almost be used as high capacity assault rifles. The AWS is simply one of the best weapons in the game and can be very effective running and gunning aswell as a more traditional static LMG role. The two RPK's and Ultimax 100 are incredibly accurate and really low recoil but have rather low ROFs. The most important thing is to get the better grip attachments unlocked. As I'm on PS4 the AFG is very helpful as tend to burst a lot more to keep my shots more accurate. As your a PC player the Stubby/potato grip will help you a lot as that tightens up the spread of the weapon with no negetive effect and as you have keyboard and mouse the AFG won't be as helpful as you can more easily control recoil. Id reccomend working on the AWS and unlock the more usefull attachments for it and maybe the Ultimax/RPK for really long rage open maps. Hope that's helpful :)

Hm, thanks guys. I joined an old friend in a 64-player TDM server and gave some LMGs a try, I used the AWS (seemed good but I still kept getting killed first while running and gunning, I think my five kills were 'assist counts as kill'), Type 88 (seemed decent on a bipod but the recoil was quite heavy otherwise) and LSAT (pretty great, got 28 kills in a round on Rogue Transmission including a 10-kill streak). I will keep trying the AWS though as it does seem like it should be good so it was probably just a poor fit for the mode and map (Golmud 'Sniper Central' Railway).

I'm getting quite close to unlocking the RPK-12, 11 more supply ribbons and 55 more LMG kills will do it. I used to love the heavy assault rifle type LMGs in BF3 but in BF4 they just seem to have a little too much recoil to compete with actual assault rifles. I used the G36 for the first time in a round on Floodzone, I had a RDS and suppressor from a battlepack, I'm not sure if it was luck or what but that gun is awesome.

I have NEVER been a good sniper in any game but once in a while I like to experiment with it to mix up the play style to take out other snipers.

Last night I was using a x14 scope and decided to practice with the beginner sniper. After quite a few shots I got a 650 meter sniper kill last night!!!! Also in the same game I got a 468 headshot with the sniper. By far the best I have ever done with a sniper in the BF games. Both videos are in my xbox live profile. :D

There are beginner rifles? I usually stuck with the M40 and was working with most bolt-action rifles (aside from some call of duty guns)

Well, the AWS turned out to be pretty good after all! I've had 85 kills with it today (total of 90 now), having a good grip on it really makes it useful.

Not sure if I'm enjoying Dragon's Teeth.. Not really actually. Been doing so much Naval Strike I've gotten used to the more open maps and space. Those big maps with DMR is just a killer combo  Just trying out the Ace sv now and also trying to get the new Bulldog but then I'd have to play Dragon's Teeth :indiff:

also trying to get the new Bulldog but then I'd have to play Dragon's Teeth :indiff:

You don't have to play Dragon's Teeth (except for the initial round to satisfy the 'Play a Dragon's Teeth map', but it sounds like you've already done that) to unlock any of the new weapons except the Unica 6 and MPX, and the former just requires you to press a button in one of the maps so you only really need to play one round of Conquest to do that. Otherwise all the requirements for the Bulldog, CS5, riot shield and Desert Eagle (once you've unlocked the Unica 6) can be satisfied on any map.

Last night I unlocked the last PDW, the UTS-15 and RPK-12, so I only have three carbines, two LMGs and one shotgun left to unlock with points, plus the Desert Eagle and MPX assignments to complete. I also got two class service stars and five weapon stars (Mk.11 Mod0, A-91, Saiga 12K, AWS, CBJ-MS), so now I'm aiming to get my first star for the U100, AEK-971, M39 and L85. I've also got three pistols on 90 kills so I might do a pistols only TDM and see if I can get those stars too, the REX is on 84 so I could even try that too but all but about ten of those kills were from a game of REX-only TDM I played with some RPS guys. I can't kill stuff with revolvers otherwise, really.
