Agree with you, the races in every GT since GT3 (they started to stretch the races in GT3) feels very dead to me.
Because it is just like go 10 laps on Nordschleife and thats it. (few times pitting). Nobody will ever go off track until something very very bad happens. No Safety Cars or tyre punctures either.
Theres so much space to add the right feeling to races that PS3 could be here for another 10 years until PD do this (its not about the graphics)
Tenacious DIf you never go off track on the Nurburgring, you aren't driving hard enough.
To me, the biggest game changer would be along the lines of a real life Career Mode. A separate mode which takes you as a young guy with a sports car you enter in an SCCA style enthusiast league, work your way up through the ranks from semi-pro to pro level racing in high performance race cars, and from there, graduate to the professional racing league of your choice, whether it's BTTC, WTTC, DTM, WRC, an equivalent to F1, whatever. No car collecting or prize cars, just pure racing for points and cash prizes to maintain your car. Each "year" would be a new season and a chance to advance, better your stats from the previous season, or change leagues.
Now this is the idea I wanted, race driver touched on this but you didnt start with street cars like your idea.
MrMelancholy15... because most SCCA members tend to be enthusiasts, and few enthusiasts will ever come near DTM or Formula 1.
Still its good for a bit of a story.
MrMelancholy15Agreed, but, I'd prefer if you started in karting. Karting's a much more common first step in the ladder towards professional motorsports; I should know, I race karts, and SCCA. 👍👍
It's a cliché story that has already been done over and over in racing games.
Starting off with 20k Credits, to start with Karting is the right idea for a Career mode. It could be Enthusiast- using your personal production car to race with an option to learn Karts, Semi-Pro- start with Karts and maybe top out at below an International License with an option to go Pro, Pro- Karting thru to Open Wheel/LM/GT/Rally/Top Fuel/Touring Cars/NASCAR.
A proper Career Mode( as mentioned above) from PD would be a game changer.
I still think this idea could work however cliché it might seem or done before it gives a reason to progress.
MrMelancholy15I'd like to argue that not any single game I've played before has ever started the players off in karts, and allowed them to progress however they want.
TOCA/GRID games (Codemasters) were always about faster cars, from the start.
Forza = Gran Turismo
rFactor = some mix of all of the above
iRacing = Start in MX-5s or Street Stock...
Which game starts you off in Karts?
No not karts more talking about the story aspect
MrMelancholy15I wouldn't mind a GT game, with an F1 2010 type storyline; interviews, etc., promotions, teammates... All of that stuff is somewhat real. I've been interviewed before, on television, as part of my racing career. 👍
Then, once you start to gain popularity, and gain fans, everyone always wants to know what your next move is, and the pressure mounts higher and higher, and the racing gets harder and harder... Real life and GT5 are entirely different, in that regard.
If I found myself in the situation of being able to afford to race in a higher level of motorsports, (touring cars, etc.) I'd have to start by getting my competition license, etc., before officially racing. Then, toss in sponsor contracts, and various other things, and you're talking about a full-time job that involves more than "just being fast."

SimonKProject CARS will, FWIW.
Fwiw?

But, so is the GT series's lack thereof:
Start with ~20,000 CR. Buy a car. Race it. Win. Win more cars.
That's not at all very realistic.
Would you rather start off with 500,000 cr and be able to buy a super car? Because a "New Driver" in the game will have enough money to buy an awesome car from the get-go. I would much rather start out with 20,000 cr because it gives me a more challenging experience.
