Corvette SS would be Chevrolet's best option....we all know how they like to use the same parts so it would fit will in many different dimensions.

Corvette Xtreme indeed! They had an Aveo Xtreme concept so why not

That sound's corney as hell, the Corevette Xtreme, eryeah, I'll take that Ferrari then . The ZL1 has history behind the name, that's probably the most likely name for it, imo, from my limited knowledge of Corvette history :P.

Nooooooooo I want it to be called the blue devila nd only be available in blue with one off alloys. That would make it so cool.

Blue Devil is the code name because one of the GM high ups, Wagner maybe, went to school at Duke. Hence the name.

If they can export it at a decent price it will definetly get world-wide recognition...But otherwise it will remain an American legend and little more.

It will probably go world-wide, but it is going to be one rare ride. I wouldnt expect any more than maybe 2000 or so models per year, at the very most, 4000, but thats a stretch...

Alright GM, listen up--
-make a ZL1 available in yellow silver or black
-make a vette Z06SS in yellow or black
-or make a ZL1 Blue Devil in various shades of blue with black or chrome rims and a limited production run of 2500 cars with a $99,995 price tag and a modified LS7 producing around oh, 750 hp maybe?

and i think, whatever they do to it, the Saleen S7TwinTurbo will 0WN it.
but i would still rather have a vette bc of the price

Does that mean that windows "longhorn" was named by a guy who went to Texas?

no, does that mean 'project petunia' the ford gt was named by a gardener? or a girl? or your mom?
anyway my imaginary car company had a 'maelstrom' codename, i havent ever been through one.

Maybe, I just remember reading that somewhere along the lines that that's why is was designated Blue Devil.

...I always herd the "Blue Devil" name came from a few different things:

1) The test-mule was painted blue, thus recieving the nickname
2) The name was chose to appeal to GM's CEO Wagoner, as he graduated from Duke University, and is a huge Duke Basketball fan

I personally think actual names given to test cars in a little better than the code numbers and letters that so often fill the pages of Magazines and Websites. It gives the car a better identity, and allows the car guy to dream up a better image of the car.

...I can think of a test-mule Saturn Ion that I had seen running at Grattan Raceway just a few miles from my hometown, it had special tag on the back calling it the "Nürburgring Special." Although it looked like a regular Ion QuadCoupe, we saw it running at the time just before the release of the Ion Red Line, which lead us to belive that it was a test-mule for the upcomming GMPD car.

I did read from finnish vette forums, that the blue devil was just mischief to keep the journalists happy, while they were developing C7 Z07.. and yes, the claim was that the blue devil that was spotted on the 'ring was actually C7's prototype underneath.
The C7 will be a very expensive $100,000 version of the Z06.

Engine code LTT
7.5 liter 12 cylinder Twin Turbo LTT motor
650 HP output.
Carbon Fiber body parts.
Dry Sump
Aluminum Frame
2800 lbs.
Titanium engine parts
Three valve/cyl heads as seen on the 2006 Z06 7.0 liter V8

I wouldn't think the C7 Vette's in any shape or form would be due for a long time yet, also the Z06 would appear after the regular C7 coupe and cabriolet, so I don't think that's close to accurate. Besides that GM personael have already said they are building it, and it's far, far too soon to be a next gen Vette, so it's just gong to be a new flagship C6. Also I doubt very much we will ever see a factory spec Vette with anything other than a V8, it would outrage many Vette enthusiast imo.

Sounds similiar to how MB fans were for some reason expecting a 700bhp sl63. Nice to think and dream about, but it aint happening anytime soon.

This is really, really silly... 12 cyls and TTd when you can get 650hp from an LS6 still NA? There are some NA Z06s that already have 750hp. Plus, getting it to weigh 2800lbs would be an absolute nightmare for Chevy.

It's only 3100 something now.

2800 isn't that far off.

Sacrifice some creature comforts, raise the price point a bit.

I'd bet it will be 3000 flat or just under it though. C7 Z07, less than 0.000001% chance.

Call it

- Stingray
- L88
- ZR-1

Those names rule! Blue Devil isnt bad though, we cant keep relying on retro names/designs forever.

Actually the Stringray is in the works as a Chevy version of the Soltice.

I know, but I just cant understand it. Solstice and Stingray, whats the connection there? Stingray's always been Corvettes.

Anyone who is a Corvette fan knows that they won't go with any more than a V8 in a Corvette, it just doesnt make any sense to do so. If they can allready make 650HP with V8s allready in stock, why not go that route? V12s are reserved solely for Cadillac, thats it. I could see a V12-powered XLR happening, but that is the only Y-Body that will recieve that treatment.

...Similar to going with more cylinders, I doubt GM would want to strap any kind of forced induction under the hood of the Corvette. As above, the same rules apply. Why not have it make the power the natural way with a V8? It is just that easy...

We are atleast five years from any kind of C7 comming close to production, and I wouldnt expect it to change by leaps and bounds just like the change from C5 to C6. We can speculate all we want about the Corvette, and people have been doing it since the car came out in 1953... Guess what, 99% of what is speculated is usually wrong, esp. when it comes to big changes to the Corvette formula.

V8 + Coupe + Manual + Performance X Value = Corvette

call it R-C6, or C-6R Stradale, or something. that's too much power for any old monikers from te past.

C6R Straße sounds good, but we don't live in Germany...

They could just call it the Z06-R and be done with it...

Corvette SS doesnt sound right. Blue devil sounds so bad and it doesnt sound cheesy like other american cars that are called like typhoon and extreme because this car is bad-ass

 Must you constantly badger my truck? Honestly it gets old.

The Xtreme was named that because it fit the market at the time, the Typhoon was name that because of swirling mass of air that was sucked in by the turbo.

The Blue Devil would be copyright infringement on Duke so they won't call it that, it will be more then likely the C6-R or Z06-R...it makes sense.
