BMW 2-Series & M2

It indeed is very graceful.. But I don't think that the 4-wheel steering was available in the performance models, unless they've changed that.. Couple that with xdrive and it will be a menace in every weather.

New spec M235i :)

I like the body spoilers better.

I just don't know if they have this GT wing to comply with racing today. Maybe its a modern E30 where it can go straight to the track in that guise. I don't know if a body wing might not be approved in certain race series. Where as, a GT wing might be.

Body spoilers FTW. :P

Well, since it's a little on topic, and coincidentally enough I've only just got round to start sorting out some of my photos from the 'Ring this year... these are some of my M235i Racing shots (I do think it makes a good looking race car, and I like the liveries too)

"Something exciting is coming from the most powerful letter in the world. Visit BMW USA's periscope on 10/13 at 6:01 PM EST to witnessa powerful new first from ///M"

Looks like they are finally revealing the M2. Looking forward to seeing the car and the specs.

That is lovely. Shame it doesn't appear to have alcantara or cloth interior, to distinguish it from the other M cars inside. I loved the cloth options offered on the E36 and 46 M3.

The side on picture looks good, but I will have to see it in person to make a judgement.

Overall the 2 series looks good though, but I'm still not a fan of the High roof Design, which clearly is an after effect of it being based on the 1 series.

Not much of a looker in my eyes :(
Looks better in the evo pics that'll appear later tonight...

However, there is some weirdness going on with the car's proportions. I think the boot is a little shorter in the 2er than it was in the 1-series Coupe, so the wide arches don't work quite as well.

The bonnet looks way too long on those pics.

If it helps... E82 (White) over an F22 (Blue). I've tried to scale as closely as possible, but anti-aliasing might have put my measurements off a little.

Yeah, from that image you can see what I'm talking about with proportions. The lip of the boot lid is almost the same on each car, but the rear window is more upright on the E82 so it visually lengthens the rear end. Lower, too, which does the same. Just helps the wide arches sit a little better on the E82, I reckon.

No match all for this in the looks department.

The M2 would look better with some CSL style wheels and not M4 style ones like the picture @MatskiMonk posted.

I think the problem is, where the old 1-er Coupe had some sharp creases and looked taut, the 2-er Coupe looks slightly... well... chubby and soft. The act of making the 1-er beefier for the 1M gave it a real bulldog kind of stance... Whilst in making the 2-er beefier for the M2, it just more like the design's been inflated with compressed air.

I quite like it, the worst bit for me is the X6M style rear bumper. What I can't get over is how much more awesome the bewinged M235i Racing at the top of the page looks, compared to the M2 shown in the leaked article.

I am confident however, as with all modern BMW's, it will look much better in the flesh, than in studio photos.

I'm finding that with a lot of these new cars, they look significantly better in person.

That said this looks alright so far. I was never a fan of the 1 series coupe. The M235i has it about right, though the front is a bit too busy on the sides. For the M2, that's where they should have started. For the rear, all they needed was a slightly more aggressive diffuser and the exhaust setup. The front had a bad starting point, but I think they could have tried simpler and more aggressive. All these curves and details are unnecessary on a "canvas" this small.
