Bram Turismo's Gallery - Tournament Round 1 before/after -

Great shot Bram:tup: it really shows the muscular bodywork on this car:tup:

very nice! i just can't help but notice the jagged line on the side of the car, but considering you used the smudge tool, i think it's an awesome job. well done on the blur too, and the reflections are great.

Maybe it's just my monitor, I don't know, but it looks very pixellated in a lot of areas, especially near the headlights and the front bumper. The background blur and the rest of the shot are brilliant and have been worked upon really well but the jagged lines are really distracting for me.

I'm probably just nitpicking, but I really love your usual style of cleaning up and this one just seems a bit sharp overall.

It's not your monitor Moglet, because I can see jagged edges and pixellated parts in a mix of areas.

That's a pretty cool shot, Bram. 👍
You did an excellent work with the gradient map, it fits really nicely with every part of the image.
The cleaning is near perfect, and the only jagged bits that I find to be more visiblle and worth mentioning me are the line that runs along the car (at the door handle height), and that grill thing just ahead of the driver's door.
Damn, I love that car...

Good job, and it sure looks a lot better with the cut/paste wheel thing, than it would if it was just a blur. Stock rims on this one, huh? ;) Can't blame you, they're just beautiful.

You've gotta try and do a 300ZX, I'd like to see what you come up with.

BMW M5 @ New York
May 11th, 2007

I finally had some time to update so I decided to give the beautiful M5 a go. A lot of work was put in it, I tried to get all of the door lines as perfect as I could. Let me know what you think 👍

Those doorlines are spectacular.

The picture looks great - not my kind of picture, but great nontheless. Just one thing bugs me - the rear wheelarch has an odd reflection...

Good work, Bram. :)

I find the image itself to be a bit 'empty', if you know what I mean, especially being B&W. Basically, there's only the car to look at.

Now, on the car, all the lines seem perfect to me (I can never get them as thin as you do, they almost always tend to get wide), with just the right amount of dodging, and the lines themselves look very smooth and natural.

On the cleaning, the reflection on the rear bumper below the light doesn't look very natural, maybe a smoother color transition worked better, and there seems to be some big lines throughout the car that appear on my monitor as jagged, don't know if they are really, like for example the roof line (nitpicker, I know).

Everything else is perfect, good work on the rims and on every other reflections, especially the one going through the car's side, smooth and natural (just the way I like them). Also the shadow under the car is great, you kept the original shape pretty well. 👍

You really have to update more often, Bram. Your work's always good to see. 👍

Thanks guys, I can't see any jagged lines though...Damnit! I really have to change to PC monitors or LCD screens instead of this laptop! :grumpy:

Looks good to me, the cleanup is pretty much flawless and the reflections have come out really well when mixed with the shading. There are some jagged edges, especially along the roof, but like you said it can be difficult to see these on some computers.

Maybe the monitor I'm currently using (my brother's) shows it in a stronger way. It might be sharper or whatever.

Anyway, I took your image, expanded the car and pointed the jaggies I see out for ya, hope it helps. 👍

I noticed those, too. Perhaps you should do the cleanup after the resizing?

That would leave me zooming in too much, I didn't resize this one, maybe it's that but I'll definitly try and be carefull with those lines next time 👍

It doesn't look too bad Bram, I have seen some better shots from you but it is still quite nice. I especially like the angle of the shot it would have seemed more intresting though if it were normal colours not b/w. Good work and keep it up. Check out my gallery if you have time.

I think it looks really good. The blur is spot on and the cleanup is well done. I would have liked it better in color though.

Looks good bram
you are suffering the same problem as 440's work ... the jaggies
they can be easily solved by using small blur brush
but you need to flaten the image first which is not a very good idea

You still gota work on those shadows. Not necessarily on your M5 shot, but on your previous M3 shot. The shadow the car casts is just kinda blurrred all over the place and kind of makes it look like the car was pasted in the scene. It's really easy to get the shadows right. It just takes a coule more minutes, but makes a whole lot of difference. If gives the shot more depth. Just a suggestion Bram. Looking good...👍

Thats a power shot Bram!!! Love the speed U gave, and U did well to have the shot in B&W!!! The rims are great too!!
Now...bring the next update:tup:

Looks good to me Bram, definetly not as jaggy as Beerz' shot shows it, atleast not on my monitor. The shot looks sweet in B&W aswell, nice work.👍

I missed a few shots so I better catch up. :D

Audi Le Mans Quattro at Infineon: You don't see that car round here very much, it's a good looking car imo. Too bad you can't change the colour or rims. :ouch:
You have done an amazing job as usually on this, the blur is very well done and I love the colours. Very vibrant and eye catching.
Of course spot on with the clean up, are you still just using only the smudge tool?

BMW M3 GTR at Motegi:
Once again another great shot, that Gradient Map really suits Motegi. Another awesome job on the blur and the clean up. It does look vector like in some places and there are a few jaggies. Must be that same problem with the BMW shot, still not a big deal. The shot looks sweet.

BMW M5 at New York: Another amazing BMW shot, looks sweet in B&W. I love the lighting and shine across the side of the car. The clean up is very nice and the body lines look great, and sweet work on the blur.
Like others have said, there are jaggies but they don't distract from the overall awesome shot.

Great work Bram, look forward to seeing your future updates. 👍

"Will it blend? That is the question"

A look back onto my short and for me, dissapointing Tournament with my final shot. I expected a nice battle with Sejtur because of the cleaness of this shot but I had no chance against his wide-angle, I will have my revenge though...Anyway, the other are rather extercises on my lightning techniques which definitly can be better. I didn't clean much on these, I spend most of the time on getting the body lines as good as I could and applying some texture to the road 👍

I really like that last one. It might just be the colors that attract me but white cars just looks good there. The angle is excellent. I'd say the lighting could be better if the side of the car wasn't in the shadow, like position the car so the whole car is in light. Unless that was what you were going for in this shot, then ignore what I just said. Anyways, really nice job.

I must say I was quite disappointed with your Prius shot. It looked very plain overall and the cleanup would have worked well on a more interesting car IMO.

The other two look great though, the angles and composition aren't that amazing but the cars are very well lit and I'm guessing that's what you were aiming for. The road texture in the MR2 shot is also very impressive.

The Prius, although extremely clean, reflections included, with it's perfect body lines and a very good wheel blur, feels a bit strange, really. Seems like there's too much of the car in the picture, and as that is a car without any 'focus point', the eye looks for another point of interest. And that's where it fails, since there isn't one. The well executed blurred ground is not meant to grab attention and the background is almost non existant. So, the problem was never the quality of your work as a photoshopper, which is excellent and well visible on this image, it was more of the shot itself as an image that grabbed attention. 👍

The Supra felles extremely realistic for me, I love the light in it, the overall color of the car. Body lines look awesome, in perfect proportion to the car (not easy, the car's small in that shot).
Did you clean the rear panels? They look really smooth. Also I like the composition of this shot.
Only thing not quite working for me is the blur on the scenery. The pole (sorry, can't remember another word for it :)) is right next to the car and is blurred, whereas the fence and bushes way past the car are in focus, some of them below a blurred tree. ;)
Also, ground texture is very well applied, looks great. But it suffers from the same 'blur problem', since it's blurred on the left and right, despite being at the same camera distance.

The MR2 shot has great colors (you seem do always do great shot at this location). That car is usually great to work with, since it's extremely well textured almost all over, I really like the reflection you caught just under the rear wing.
Again, body lines seem perfect to me, those rims actually look great on that car, and the texture on the ground looks even better on this shot. Are you just applying it straight or distorting it to match perspective?

Anyway, I hope I didn't 'sounded' too much of a nitpicker, since all the not-great things I mentioned about the Supra shot are minor things, really. Most of them I only noticed after looking really hard, and like you said, the main goal was about the lighting and body lines, and as far as that, you nailed it!
