Britain has given us some truly wonderful things: "Blackadder", McLaren, roast beef and Australia, among others. But then you go ahead and do something like this.

I'd argue that its most significant gifts are vaccination, the railway system, industrialisation and the computer.

It also gave the world concentration camps and the United States so... ups and downs.

A large fire broke out last night in the China Town district of Manchester killing at least two people and...

The Guardian
The incident threatened to cause disruption as shoppers headed out in search of Black Friday shopping deals

It's been said privacy is binary. Either you have it, or you don't.

I don't see how anybody with a smartphone, computer or online device has privacy.

Long before 1984, I read the eponymous book, and was frightened of the vision produced of humanity in the future. All that is obsolete now, and a new book with a new vision of humanity needs to be written.

A very good point, but the way data can be used these days you can apply that to a loyalty card in a supermarket or a debit card. Even your car is routinely tracked by ANPR (even without Smart systems in the car), and your non-smartphone phone as it crosses between cell towers.

Crowd-use facial recognition software is still very early days, but in places like the UK where CCTV is everywhere (and even private cameras are internet connected) we're not far away from your every step being followed.

Privacy is dead. All that we can fight for now is anonymity. And social networking is constantly eroding that.

So it would seem that Theresa May is getting God to guide her Brexit choices, no wonder its going so well!
A method that worked out so well with Tony Blair. Funny, "God told me to do it" is the kind of excuse serial killers use to justify their actions. Guess we'll be invading Iraq next...

It's odd that the Daily Mail don't seem to have an issue with it at all. I think that might be a bit different had this been a certain mayor of London saying that he was basing policy on what Allah was telling him!

Oh yeh the Mail have been trying to support him the whole case.

When will they become a decent paper? I am willing to wait a few hundred years.

At least half the Papers in this country are a load of rubbish that I wouldn't even use as toilet paper. I don' see any of them changing anytime soon.

Given that the supported Hitler and wrote about how Jewish refugees from Europe shouldn't be allowed in the country, I'm guessing never.

After it is still the same family that own it.

To the gutter.

Out of morbid curiosity I checked out the Der Breitbartischer Stürmer's article on Mair's conviction. They only barely mentioned him being a neo-Nazi.

The piece I saw only mentioned it at the end and even then was a quote from the judge. The comments section of that made the Daily Mails look like a Commie Hippy commune.

Then again Breitbart did go out of its way in the days after the murder to try and 'prove' that no one said Britain First, not that it has an agenda for its echo chamber audience!

Some by-election excitement unfolding tonight in Richmond Park - the count is still underway but Labour sources are saying they think the Lib Dem candidate Sarah Olney has defeated Zac Goldsmith. Zac resigned the seat and left the Conservatives over the government's decision to approve the Heathrow 3rd runway, recontesting as an independent.

If Zac has lost it'll be a colossal cock-up on his part - he supported Leave whilst Richmond was heavily Remain which wouldn't have helped, but he was defending a 39% majority he won just last year, and both the Tories and UKIP didn't even put up a candidate to give him a clear run..............but given his shoddy campaign for London mayor earlier this year, maybe this isn't such a surprise.

A Lib Dem win will boost their representation in parliament overnight by a cool 12.5%.........from 8 to a whopping 9 MPs. :P But with a potentially close vote on triggering Article 50 coming next year, one extra MP who is likely to vote against it could make all the difference.

EDIT: Confirmed, Olney wins with a fairly stunning 20%+ swing.
