Here's how Thursday night's gonna go:

Lounge opens usual time, aim to kick off about 7pm. I doubt more than 16 will want to attend, but if that's the case then first come first serve I'm afraid.

1 - Normal length race at Motegi East (14 laps, pit 6-9)
2 - Normal length race at Autumn Ring (15 laps, pit 6-9)
3 - Normal length race at Fuji GT (12 laps, pit 5-8)

Please try to make the grid as varied as possible in terms of car choice! I'd prefer it if you used the same car all night but you don't have to if you don't want to.

Then I'll try to gain some insight into the lap times to see how the cars are doing (although I'm aware it could be down to tuning). I'm sure in 3 proper races we'll get an idea of which cars are in need of a cut or a bump. 👍

Switched Race 1 tomorrow to Motegi East. Similar sort of track, no pit bug. 👍

14s and 16s? Oh well guess i won't last long, i'm not a tuner but i do not see how i could shave 5 seconds
Track need's buckets of practice there's 1 or 2 weird places where you all of a sudden find bags of time. I was stuck in the 18's for age's. With time i was consistently in the 15's then just before my retirement i was hanging in the 14's.:indiff:*sigh*

I dont know if this has been discussed yet but i would like to know why there is only weight reduction 1 on the bmw. I know that wasn't a restriction in gt5 when i raced. The reason that car was competitive was that you could have a 50 50 weight distribution. Now with the car being nose heavy im not sure what to make of it. I just want to know the reason for the rule change.

retirement?

I'm still missing alerts :/

@rolo912011 can you just explain what the situation is.

Looking at the OP the people who completed the Megane series are in.

That leaves 6 spaces, open for the remaining interested drivers? (Excluding reserves) We then have to qualify each week for the chance to race?

Are we then all independents?

I think this is just recommended hurley not necessarily a set in stone rule because it cant be checked .

Not sure though rolo will address this soon im sure

I might be late today depends on traffic

Rolo will we have a short practice between races this Thursday night? As I haven't run them atall in gt6.

I can give 10 minutes between races I suppose. I advise getting in early though for the first race, as I do plan to kick that off at 7pm. My lounge is usually open before 6.30 so if you can get in before there should be plenty of practice time for that one.

I doubt we'll get 16 tonight but if demand is high then first come, first serve in my lounge.

Changing of settings allowed between races tonight @rolo912011

Yes. Free tuning is completely allowed within the rules. Do what you need to do in those 10 minutes.

I really urge everyone to read the OP properly; everything you need is there (and if it isn't let me know and I'll change it). The list of parts I've got there is indeed recommended only (as said in the OP) - it's what I used to test the cars with. You could say it provides a helpful starting point for newcomers.

That said, all cars must be within the 305hp and their own weight limit, all aero parts are banned, and the Hyundai must run 'No Wings', not 'Standard Aero'. Nitrous is obviously not allowed either.

Apart from these enforced rules, it says in the OP that you can tune your cars however you want to, because as skeng says, we can't police it - add whatever parts, run whatever settings. If you wanna put Stage 2 or even 3 on the car and ballast it up to weight then go ahead. If you want to run it without some of the engine parts, then do. Completely your choice. Add bits that aren't listed if you want (e.g. more turbo, body rigidity, rims etc). I'd also like to point out here that 'Carbon Bonnet' isn't literal - if you want the body colour one then put that on.

OK. This is how it will work on Thursday 6th at Spa. (Complete information available in OP).

Yes, as you say, the following drivers are locked in for Round 1 at Spa (only) since they are the 10 highest finishers in the Megane Championship who came back for this - @rolo912011 @AudiMan2011 @SkengD @quade420 @neljack @DirtyNurbKing58 @CptMadBean @azidahaka @xflow1390 @powwa25. This means they are guaranteed a start in the two Main Races that night. The stewards (myself, skeng, quade and neljack) will however always be locked-in every week, because no stewards = no series.

That means all of the remaining entrants, like yourself, (including reserves if there's space) have to run the Pre-Qualifying event. This kicks off at 7pm GMT, and consists of a 7-minute Qualifying session followed by a half-distance race (so at Spa, since the Main Races are 8 laps, the Pre-Q race will be 4 laps - the Pre-Q race does not have a pit window). If all of the 10 locked-in drivers show up (and I need the locked-in guys to let me know if they're not attending), then that leaves 6 spaces available, so the top 6 finishers in the Pre-Q race will qualify for the Main Races. Drivers who fail to qualify (i.e. finish 7th downwards) will score points for the Jack Sears Trophy and will then leave the lounge. If a top-10 guy doesn't come then there'll be 7 Q spots, and so on.

Main Race drivers are not allowed to be in the lounge during Pre-Q (especially if there isn't room for them, and stewards will have priority on that), and will be asked to enter the lounge by PSN message once Pre-Q is over. This will happen at around 7.30pm GMT, and then the races will run to the schedule described in the OP. Finish times will be around the same as every other season, so hopefully before 9pm GMT. There's only two main races this season instead of three to accommodate the Pre-Q.

Should a locked-in driver for Spa not be in the Top 10 in the Drivers' Championship after Spa (and they're not a steward), then they lose their locked-in place in favour of the guy who's ahead of them. So let's say you were 10th in the series after Spa then you'd get locked-in privilege. Then the same thing happens again at Silverstone. I'll make it clear who's where each week. If you miss a round and fall out of the Top 10 then you'll have to qualify.

You don't have to be an independent no. Pre-Q drivers have as much right to form teams as anyone else, since you may only need to Pre-Q for one week if you're good. However, Team points are only available for the main races so bear that in mind.

To spice up the Independents series a bit though, Pre-Q drivers who are Independent and don't qualify will still score Independent points... so theoretically it is possible I suppose to win that title without ever qualifying for a main race.

I hope that helps.

I am really excited for this season with the pre qualfying and so, should be a great season

As much as i enjoy racing sometimes i enjoy watching others just as much so watching the pre qualy shootouts will be awesome

I suppose this series is a little more awkward in that you may need to be there at either 7pm or 7.30 (roughly) depending on your championship position, but I will make this clear well in advance - I'll quote the info with the results and points at weekends.

Driving standards apply to pre-Q too - since the penalty list is more limited for incidents in pre-Q, you can expect to get a one-race ban for dumb driving. We can't go back and penalise you for the race in question if a stupid bit of driving means you qualify and someone else doesn't. We can't look until after the event. All we perhaps could do is take your right to qualify for an event away for an event, plus perhaps a points deduction.

Thanks Rolo. Spot on.

EDIT/// Rolo beat me to posting this...

My only concern (and hopefully this never happens)...if there was an incident in the qualifying race that inconvenienced (took out) a driver that was in a qualifying position on the final lap, the stewards are unable to review this and the person that got took out would unfairly lose his right to race in the main races. It could happen and it would have a huge impact on the championship for some unlucky person. If I was running in 6th place, what's to stop the guy behind doing a desperate lunge up the inside?

I suppose that you (Rolo) would be watching the race, so perhaps it would be wise to view the race from whoever is 6th or 7th at the time. That should help. The other solution would be to run a straight qualifying session and base the results on lap time instead of racing for position.

Just my 2-cents and thoughts.

I'm sure that we all want a good clean fight, but I can see that there will be a certain degree of desperation to qualify for the main races....I know that I'll be desperate. Lol

It's a completely legit point, as you say responded to but I'll explain a bit more.

I would always watch 6th place in the race (or the last Q place in question). From my experience in TOCA winning really isn't the big cheese in Pre-Q. It tends to be pretty processional up front - nobody wants to overtake, they just want to consolidate - the action is where it matters. I would steward the whole race like any other afterwards for the regular stuff, because of the Jack Sears and Independent points. Not qualifying isn't an excuse to drive like a plum.

I actually think that perhaps it would be easier to get a second steward out to help me out with the Pre-Q stuff. Doing it alone is perhaps a bit much. That said, I have 25 names down and more at the minute, so if I got a max field in Pre-Q then I'm on my own. I suppose unfortunately I'd rather a driver or two didn't show up this season and had their space taken away, then I can cut the entry list down to a maximum of 23/24 so another steward can always help me.

Perhaps you fancy being my helper steward @SkengD ? :sly:

I suppose the other alternative is to learn the skill of 'rapid-stewarding' based on only viewing the incident once, which I know is a bit dangerous....

The pressure to Q is tough, believe me!

I have a bad feeling about this pre-qualy lol

I guess battle to get top 10 will be FIERCE, hope it won't mean extra work for stewards... What if for example a driver ends 9th and incours in a warning?

I suppose if an incident is so blatantly a 'take-out' then we can just say no, actually Ian (or whoever) is in and you can go home. Very muddy waters though....

I guess we can try the race idea, and perhaps if we keep having problems, and with everyone's blessing, I could do a mid-season change to a Q-session only.

I'd still do a 1-lap race with the shortest finish delay possible so I can note down the grid order. The race would count for nothing so you could cut all the corners if you wanted :sly: I'd just need a replay so I could still hand out the relevant points (so no quit outs please in a case like that).

No work today so I've got a lobby up for practice

@rolo912011 is the full custom diff mandatory? I'm useless at diff tuning and I've found that with the standard settings there isn't much improvement in lap time but there's a lot more front tyre wear (for me anyway, my FF driving style doesn't help lol).

No, don't run it if you don't want to run it.

👍

I'd also like to switch allegiance from the VW to the last Renault slot if it's still available? Don't know what happened to the 'rocco but it feels horrible now!

We're full up at the moment with full-time drivers, so you'll have to be a reserve if you want to sign up. Spaces may become available during the season so keep checking back :)
Yes, I'm going to sign up as a reserve, Hyundai. My team is Harsk World Racing Team.

OK cool, feel free to join the test tonight. Add me on PSN.

Since you're running Hyundai, make sure your car runs 'No Wings' instead of 'Standard Aero' 👍

I'm also signing for Driver's Championship, Independents' Championship, Teams' Championship, Manufacturers' Championship and Jack Sears Trophy.
