I think the last honda cup was where I changed to man trans.
Going man trans lets you come out of bends a gear higher meaning less wheel spin.

I used L1 gear down R1 gear up.
L2 brake and R2 thottle.

Once you learn driving with a manual trans your find going back to auto hard.
I still make the odd manual mistakes, like change down to quick and have the engine peaking when trying to go round a bend!
But your start learning to use the gears.
Some bends like you in the right gear going into a bend, as it helps the car turn in.
Then upping a gear coming out smooth the power out.
Then some bends car smoother just in a gear higher in and out of a bend.

Many bends your find higher speed round them staying in the gear higher.
Take big wheel at willow the long right, turn 2 I think.
your lose 2 to 4 mph going into the right gear.

If you pick to try manual trans, get a lot of test work done.
Race AI offline and just join any online rooms, don't just try and learn it in one car.
You need to train your mind till going up and down gears sort of auto to you.

It don't happen in a few races.
I run in car cockpit view I did try running the view where you look back over the car.
Found that view hard as I could not hear your engine.

Only one thing I can't do now days and that's use the hand brake.
I just can't pick up changing gear and steering plus hand brake, gets me in a right old mess trying.

And it even worse on a wheel trying it as I can never find the button lol.

Give Manual a go m8, just remember it going to take a few weeks to get sort of use to it.

If a about I'll try and help but there little help I can give, it's something your mind and fingers need to pick up on.

well don't be put off by the effort you may need to put in to change from auto to manual, since you will feel that you're fine using auto and why change? but it will help improve as a driver and to go quicker like cptmadbean said,

it doesn't have to take a long time to learn or get used to it, it depends on how fast you learn something new, it took me a day to learn manual on slower cars like my focus and a few days to use it with faster cars like supercars, redbull and le mans etc.

you will find yourself having alot more control over your car and what it does, you won't want to go back, so I recommend to anyone who hasn't to give it a go!

I use Ian's control setup, it allows you to free up alot of button so you can set them to do whatever you want

left analogue- steering
right analogue forward- shift down
right analogue back- shift up
R2- throttle
L2- Brakes
R1- handbrake
L2- look behind

I also use the right analogue to look left and right and triangle for reversing, X nitro (we don't need that here), and you can set square and circle for anything else

I'm going to try the R2/L2 throttle/brake combo. I've always just used the sticks.
I can remember when I actually swapped to the L2/R2 Throttle/Brake combo. It was during the GT5 Academy time trial. I was watching the fastest lap replay and noticed an overlap on the throttle and brake. Using just the sticks meant that this was impossible to do, so I swapped to the triggers and never looked back....until I got a wheel that is.

It doesn't make a massive difference, but I found it to be more comfortable and perhaps a fraction quicker because of the increased control. 👍

I still have 3 more rounds of another series to complete so my next 3 mondays are taken .
I planned at least 2 test races so you should join up ;) btw if you want to join today after you are done with the other serie feel free we'll race 3 30mins races to try diff tracks and cars so you can hop in later

If the room is still open i will join after

When you doing this?

so, after beating @Ian_83 & @CptMadBean in a couple races this evening, I have high hopes for this season although that ban is going to hurt it

Your fast mikey but I've watched replay where I thought Ian pushed you off track.
Nope Ian not hit you in my replay same as Ian replay?

This real weird as you can see mikey takes a hit but Ian got a good gap?

Yep, that's the same as my replay Mad. There was a gap between Mikey and me, but his car still reacted as though we'd made contact. I heard and felt nothing at the time, so I assumed that we hadn't touched. Really odd. :( Thanks for checking your replay Mad.

That looks like lag to me... Because at the start it looked like mikey tried to barge Ian out of the way yet I'm sure that was not his intent.. Mikey is a better racer than that

Yeah if I remember right I missed the first race and that gave me a points advantage for some reason.. Tho I voluntary had points dropped from the overall score to try to even out my advantage to make it more fair

A few pics from a practice session with @CptMadBean & @1996mikey2412.

Last season people who missed races had an advantage .

I think Rolo found a way to prevent it in the future ? I think
The answer was, anyone that misses round 1 will start at the rear of the grid in the first race of round 2. 👍

You ever gone to your team garage.

Seen another car all nice and clean and think why get my one dirty?
Team m8 not about so he not notice a thing hmm

other way around mate, race 1 was a reverse championship grid, so missing race 1 meant those guys (which was you and red) started at the front of the grid, and also for round 3, so you guys had a huge advantage, which rolo balanced out and you took an extra (half?) drop score

Is that still going to be relevant? The reason I did that before was that Race 1's grid was manual based on championship results, and now we do it as a straight qualifier based on lap time, so is there still going to be that advantage?

Are we having the 1st race of the evening with the HP handicap?

If it's only Mikey it won't be as bad I guess.

Last time we had both Red and Canyon starting round 2 with no HP penalty either, which helped them quite a bit too.
