He should change the amount. May be lower, may be higher. But also put some other funny limitations in line for example:

Only Hard Komfort Tires
Only cars with at least 4 doors
Only cars weighing over 2 tons....and so on.

Money as the only limiting factor, especially if you keep it constant, will soon be boring for the challenge because at some point, you will know the best car for this specs. So just change them a little bit....tiny bit....just...you know =)

Good, now I can try to get below this damn 1:44,xxx min mark. I hate my shadow. Its always faster than me. :grumpy:

I do like the track a lot. I was hoping for this one. 👍
 
What do you guys think about a budget-only challenge? No parts that don't come on the car, no tires - it just comes down to picking up as much car as fits your driving style as you can afford.

i like that but i think budget should be 75k
 
You could start with like 40.000 bucks, and the winner gets like 2000Cr. 2nd gets 100Cr. The rest gets 500 Cr...with the money you can upgrade your car or save over some rounds...

Naaa...the way it is, it´s already entertaining...=)

This is probably the best suggestion so far. It keeps with the theme of the challenge and adds something new each season. 👍

You could have something like...

Season 2: 20k budget, comfort tyres only.
Season 3: 60k, 4WD only.
Season 4: 30k, small coupes.
 
Oh, whoops. Things happened and I couldn't get to this.

So concerning that, stop submitting times at midnight tonight. I'll put up the times I gather early tomorrow morning/afternoon.
 
I wouldn't double-post unless it was really important, but the results are now up.

This season is now over, and acsr421 is our first winner.

Our next season will begin March 1 and the first event will be from March 1 to March 7. Get your cars ready by then.


For Season 2, I've decided to implement a theme by paying attention only to a certain kind of cheap car. This time, you will only be allowed a budget of 25,000 CR for a very special type of challenge.

For the March season, prepare a keicar! For those who need to know what a keicar is and what isn't, an easy place to look is the Kei Car challenge in the A-Spec and B-Spec lineups. The allowed cars are every keicar in the game, and so you will only be allowed to get a car from that specific lineup.

And given this special dispensation, my Founder's Car, the Copen, is now retired. A new Founder's Car will be released with the track announcement.


Anyone who hasn't entered this month is now free to join in. Just have your car ready (and preferrably with a time) by March 7!

I will announce the first track of the second season Monday, February 28, so practice up and stay sharp!

Still though, good. That's right: 25K, buy a Keicar.

The rules also now get a slight modification:

You must turn the racing line and all driver's aids Off.

No mechanical damage, but grip reduction should be set to Real.

I didn't think about that, but now that I think about it, that'll be an interesting way to level things.

In fact, YES, even ABS. The one "driver's aid" that nobody stops to consider since so many modern cars take it for granted. Can you hack it in your dinky driver's car this season?

...well I was kind of hoping so, because we need drivers.
 
Well done to ACSR421, winning three rounds out of four is very impressive.

I'm off to practice wet weather driving for a couple of weeks in case a wet track is used in season two, I don't want to get embarrassed again quite as badly as I was at Suzuka!
 
By Keicar I take it you mean any of the cars from the K-Cup in A-spec? Sorry for the dumb question.

Also, if that is the case, why don't we, maybe not for the next round but in a future round, do away with the credit limit and just all use the Cappucino but race modified??? Should be a bit of a giggle, either that or have an online night with them.

And congrats to acsr421 for romping away with the win.

And no ABS next round. That should make things interesting. Especially since I've never driven a car without ABS before...

That wouldn´t be a BUDGET Challenge anymore, but just a normal Race Series for a specific car. The Credit Limit is the backbone and main theme of this challenge. Kicking it out....mmh? No.:sly:
 
Yeah, I agree with STiG39.

Part of the fun of the Budget Car Challenge is finding your own way to make the limitations work for you.
 
Alright, everyone, I've decided on our first course. Round 1 of Keicar Month will be the Keicar's natural environment: Japan!

Round 1 is in Tokyo R246, and I will be accepting times from March 1 to March 7. Come with your new cars and as usual, may the best driver win!

Did we decide on keeping ABS off in the end then? Because if so, it might be worth updating the OP with the new info so everybody knows about it. I'll try to find a decent car, I'd forgotten about this lol.
 
By the way, remember, everyone, when posting your time and debuting a new car, tell me its specs!

I'd like to start this season out right, down to the letter, so please allow me to remind you what you should send me in your e-mailed times:

- your GTP username
- your best single lap time, and a photo of said time to verify it
- your car profile and budget breakdown
