First lap and I managed 2:30 and 100mph down the main straight. Having no ABS makes things so much fun.

Right now i'm just testing some stuff out. Once I get my final setup I'll shoot you an email. Sounds like your time of 2:30 is probably going to be the time to beat and I have a lot of work to do.

I hate to complicate things but the price differences in cars bought from the UCD vary according to mileage for example the car I purchased from my UCD is 2400cr. cheaper than the same car according to mygranturismo.net so should I use the quoted price from them or what I actually paid for the car. 2400cr. in extra add-ons can make for a big difference in the performance of these little cars.

Huh. That's funny...I guess you should go with the quoted price. mygranturismo.net might be outdated after the GT5 updates.

Prices do vary based on mileage. Prolly stick with the mygranturismo price since it is widely available for everyone to compare against.

Thats what I was thinking. Man I ran a best time of 2:13.699 out of five laps last night I'm going to have to figure out where to cut out that 2400cr. tonight.

Well then, we'll use that as a benchmark.

However, I created this month's Founder's Car without it. It's a Honda Beat with about 14000 Cr worth of modifications after costing around 10600 Cr to buy.

I'll let you guys decide: should I create another one consulting the mygranturismo database or is the Beat in as our bonus-giving Founder's Car?

I think the beat is a good choice for the founders car. The time I posted was from an overbudget car it is not as fast in a straight line now as before. I can submit a different car though if that time seems unrealistic.

^ It did seem pretty quick. But then again, you won the last competition, so you're obviously a pretty good driver lol. I ran a few laps tonight and was in the high 2:20s. Theres a good few seconds to be found though i reckon.

I submitted my time. I probably left 1-2 seconds I know of on the track but when I nailed a lap over a second quicker than my previous 5 laps I figured I should take a break.

How close did you get to this time after removing the 2400cr? I had no problem getting under 2:30, but under 2:20 feels like a pipe dream in the car i chose.

Just wanted to say good luck to you all, I'm not going to make this week, work commitments and home life in the way.:grumpy: I'll probably leave it until the next season to join in again.

It was around 1.5 - 2 seconds slower but after a dozen or so laps I was able to beat my original time by .2xx sec. I then switched to a different car to submit for the challenge. I'll reveal which car it was after this weeks challenge.

Well damn. I think I should've tried out a few more cars...but I wasn't sure what qualified for a keicar.

I know the car I picked wont do well, but my word is it fun to drive this little thing. I'm in the mid-20's with room for maybe a couple of seconds of improvement.

Ok, so for those confused about what defines a Keicar (like me), take a look at the following site:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kei_car#History_of_regulations

In short. The displacement limit is 660cc engine and 3400mm by 1480mm. Cars made before 1990 were only allowed 550cc engines and their dimensions were a little smaller. So there are a few cars I thought might be Keicars, the '86 Honda City Turbo II for example, which are not due to various restrictions. Since I am almost 10 seconds off pace, I think I might try to pick up a car from the UCD and see if the extra budget will yield a quicker car.

I switched up cars and submitted a new time. Not as fast ACSR421 but I was at least able to get under 2:20. I'll run this new car for the remainder of the series. Mixing and matching tuning parts is very interesting. I've been paying more attention to the hp/torque curves more than the max hp number. It's tough to squeeze power out of these little engines on such a tight budget.

Seems I've only received five times so far. Oh dear, that can't be right!

To give any late comers a chance and to extend the invitation to any newcomers to the BCC, I believe will extend the current due time for Round 1 times to Wednesday, March 9, 7:00 PM EST.

Come on, everyone, join in!

It's also time to unveil the Founder's Car for this month. Here it is:

1993 Honda Beat Version Z (approx. 10500 CR, it's a little less but I forget how much less, like, 40 CR or something)
Aero (500 CR, tailwing)
Engine (1000 CR, ECU)
Intake (2950 CR, manifold and racing filter)
Exhaust (1500 CR, sports exhaust)
Turbo (4500 CR, low-pressure turbo)
Drivetrain (4000 CR, semi-racing flywheel and dual-plate clutch)

Total: approx. 24950 CR

Looks good, I've set up something similar but with prizes that allow you to add moe parts to your little budget car, and is slightly more generalized.

Sorry man, I was just making the finishing touches to my time and was going to send it you in about 10 minutes haha.

By the way, thank you to whoever said shift early. I've managed to find another 3 seconds in my lap time due to that :D

I believe I have. Still though, I got worried when it got to three hours to deadline and I realized "oh, yeah, everyone's tinkering with a new formula, like, all across the globe! Better widen the window a bit."

On a personal note, trying out setting a Founder's Time has me scratching my head. Mostly, I wager, because this month's Founder's Car is very tail-happy and I end up powersliding through most of the R246 backstretch in 4th.

Confirmation on a time received would be appreciated as well. Knowing that my email showed up and the screen shots were acceptable given their low quality at best.

Oh, certainly. Considering that now, I'll get right on it.

EDIT: Done. Anyone who posts a time will now get a reply by e-mail signifying I've gotten it, and anything that may need to be done if something pops up.

Well I fail. I sent the email and everything but forgot to include the time I did it in lol. Oh well, I've sorted it now. I had a suprising amount of fun driving this car though. It also didn't seem too difficult to drive without ABS, but then again, the cars barely weigh abything.

your welcome :) I typically run automatic but it felt like the car was just hanging onto 2nd and 3rd gear forever. When it finally shifted i watched the speed climb rapidly. it got me thinking I should try manual. I drove up the straight shifting earlier and earlier until I found a shift point that would give me max speed before turn 1. I shaved off almost 10 seconds because these cars have got no high end power...so I figured I'd share the tip. It also helps with the sweeping turns to be in a lower gear. less chance of breaking the rear end loose (on RWD keicars).

Did you try maxing out the rear spoiler downforce?

I think it helps that there are only a few places you have to brake on the track and the car doesn't get going fast enough to require more than half-pedal braking. The only exception being turn 1. The comfort tires don't take well to trail braking so I had to make sure I was going the right speed before turning in. Otherwise i'd go into an instant 4-wheel drift. It was easily controllable, but drifting would shave too much speed off and these cars are all about maintaining momentum.

Yeah you don't have to break much other than turn 1. The rest is pretty much just letting off the gas and coasting through. I know what you mean about the 4 wheel sliding too, it gets annoying. It loses so much time just trying to get back up to speed.

My computer died a little today, I'm sorry for the delay.

The times have been gathered! Our winner this week, and the first winner of Keicar Month, is acsr421, off to another good start, but with a two-wheel-drive car this time: a Daihatsu Move!

Founder's Jackpot winner this time is clazman55, who gets an extra point on the leaderboard and a special prize:

...well it WAS a special prize until somebody nicked it, and in a last-minute panic I found this wheel of cheese. Sorry.

I realize now that I forgot to mention where we're going next, so here it is: our next track is somewhere with a slightly more merciful length: Clubman Stage Route 5 forward!
