*Crosses fingers and toes and hopes Airrider picks faster tracks*
:D
Edit: Just took the RS4 around Eiger, was quite fast, so it might not matter if it's tight or not…

Well, at least for your next tracks. So here's the challenge for this week, one more time:

It can be argued that Rome is the birthplace of Europe: in languages, customs, and other assorted European national traits that can all be traced back to the Roman Empire.

Your European automotive journey will begin here, on a lap of Rome Forward, Dry. You will have until July 7, 7:00 PM Eastern Standard Time to post a lap.

All late entries, meaning, those who have not yet submitted a car yet, be sure to submit your car specs along with your time.

Good luck, and good driving!

You can change it if you manage to beat it. Email me as many times as you like, so long as you do it before the deadline.

It's great to see the numbers will be up for this round, good luck to everyone joining the competition.

I've pretty much got my car sorted, I'm going for a British boy-racer hatchback (the boy-racer is British, not the hatchback) with mainly upgrades for power, and sports tyres, because if I get a fully-customisable suspension kit or LSD, I'll tune it to the point of it being undriveable because I want to be able to keep up with the pace when we end up on a circuit with a long straight.

Hmm……boy racer hatchback?? A Peugeot? Golf GTI? And you'll have to keep pace with 400+hp on the straights, so its gonna be tough, unless you bought the high-rpm turbo kit…

You guessed it, turbo-upgraded GTI. I've been looking for an RS4 like you but haven't had one turn up. The Golf handles well though and is fairly fast in a straight line, but I know I'm not going to win any top speed challenges.

Yes! Wait……which one? The MK1, MK4 or MK5? And you can also get a TVR V8S, Lotus Esprit HCS, Audi A3 Quattro and various other 'high end' cars which are within the budget, all you need to do is be lucky…

Mk4, I'm hoping the 4WD will help me out. I did try out the Mk1 (it's cheap!) but like most of the older road cars in GT5 it is hopelessly out of its depth against the modern cars.

I've not sent in my time or car yet, so I will still keep an eye out for a faster car. The Audis I knew about, but I didn't realise I might see an Esprit within the budget. I might be tempted if one shows up in the next couple of days.

Well…you'd need to be lucky to see one, but most the time, it would be under the budget. And you don't actually need to worry about the suspension tuning and the lsd, y'know? That's what the tuning forum is for :D I know that Roj's buddy Rotary Junkie has quite a quick setup for your car.

Really? Damn…should have bought it anyways, the rs4 is ok, if a bit like driving a brick sometimes…

Well I've now got myself a '91 TVR because I had a BMW Z4 before but 2 others already do...

Just over 320 bhp and weighs nearly nothing :)

Yes, it has a torque curve as flat as a table and over 450hp, it will be the first, and fastest, estate ever to take part in the budget car challenge. And with a bit of luck, hopefully it'll be the first to come in…well, first. :D

Anyways, I suppose no one is willing to give their lap time away, right? Even a small hint?

One minute and a bit more? Verrry funny -.- Well, since to me, a bit means 5-10 seconds, I'm gonna assume the worse and say you did a 1:05.xxx, making me more than 10 seconds slower. Gonna have to work harder with my laps!!!

My best time is in the 1:10s now, got…to…go…quicker!!!
Soo………what kind of times are you achieving?

Really? I wasn't expecting that…and by 1:10s, I don't mean 1 minute 10 seconds, I mean within the 1 minute 1- mark. (i.e 1:12s, 1:17s)

Yay! Now I want the week to end quicker now! It's summer, I've got no school to attend and I'm bored……next week, hurry up!!!

Well I've thrashed my car as much as I can and have submitted my time. To correct a previous post I made, my Golf doesn't have a turbocharger, as you may realise when the results are published! In my head I had mixed up my non-turbo Mk IV with a turbo Mk I that I tried, and only noticed my mistake when I sent my entry and budget-breakdown in.

Good luck all, it sounds like we've got a wide variety of cars for this event so it will be interesting to see how they all stack up.

Well, I'll be submitting my time tomorrow. I'm always submitting at the last minute just incase I can take that extra little bit of time off. Although, this week I've been playing Dirt 3 a lot, so it'l take some getting used to to get back into GT5. So I'm not expecting to take anymore time off to be honest. I'm pretty much at the limit of what the car can take I think.

I do like the wide variety of cars we have this season though, it'l be interesting. We've also got cars of all different drive trains. Should be good.

Oh dear, now I'm worrying about my time……Just to be safe……I think I should do a last ditch attempt at beating it………

McRofl I've been playing Dirt 3 a bunch too and these games could not be more different in driving.

I'm not happy with my time but I'm having major issues bringing it down significant amounts. 1/100 of a second every 5 tries just doesn't feel worth it haha.
