Buy a PS4 to play GT6?

Well I couldn't get a PS3 originally at launch 'cause I was in school and had no money. I ended up getting one for my birthday right before Prologue came out, so I was set up from there. Then I got my wheel once I had my job, then GT5 came out. I now have a slim and the original fat I got initially. The fat PS3 now gets used as, more or less, a Netflix machine in the living room while I use mine in my bedroom.

I always wanted a PS3, not just for GT, but for things like God of War, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, and SOCOM (found out later those two last ones weren't worth it), and intend on buying a PS4 for almost the same reasons. But you can add Playstation Plus, Uncharted, and Last of Us to that now.

I'm getting a PS4 on launch because I've never been able to buy a system at launch before, but GT6 is definitely another huge reason. I'm also pretty excited to see where Sony takes the system and be there through its evolution.

I won't go out of my way to get it on launch just 'cause GT6 is launched with it unless I have the means, which I do now.

Dman, the amount of money people have these days are incredibly huge.
It's not that much really. PS4~$500+Logitech wheel~$150+GT6 Collectors Edition~$100. That's around $750+taxes. I bought an $800 set of Hankook C71 Autocross slicks that lasted my brother and I for 3 weekends before they were corded. I'm not a kid. I'm not in college. I don't live with my parents. My wife and I both have good jobs that afford us the ability to purchase reasonable things that we like.

I would buy a PS4 just to play GT6, but I'm sure there will be many other games worth getting the PS4 for as well.

I would buy a PS4 just for GT6, however there are clearly other games I'd buy too..

Really considering a gaming PC for iRacing.

I still refuse to patronize Sony until they remove that Cinavia crap off their machines.

This is a requirement for ALL new devices which has a blu-ray optical drive (Sony or otherwise). So the list of machines you're left with that fit your criteria are HD media players with no blu-ray drives, and older players manufactured early 2012 or earlier.

In any case, if GT6 is in fact a launch title, I would definitely buy a PS4, but not if it costs over $500.

In my case I don´t buy the console for one game. To me is like making an upgrade to my PC. Something new comes out I´ll buy it...of course if I need it in case of my PC (a GPU for example).

I stopped playing for a while on PC when I got my PS3 (one month after release with 2 games: Motor Storm and F1 Championship Edition, then I bought Resistance)...I bought almost every game that I was interested in, like I did on PC and like I do now.

I´ll never buy one piece of hardware (in this case) that can do only one thing or just for one thing. And even less when the price is high.

This time I´ll be playing mostly on PC so I´ll buy it for Play Station exclusives overall...I love racing games and simulators, but I love shooters, RPG´s, and other genres...call me a gamer for sure...the sad part is that you don´t have time for everything and sometimes you need to use the time in one thing. (if you work, study, or whatever)

I stopped playing GT5 a while ago, but I still buy its DLC´s, download its updates and play for a short period. Then I play some BF3 mostly because of my friends. Waiting for some PS3 exclusives like GoW Ascension and The Last of Us.

The rest all for PC, I play rFactor 2 which is still in Beta, pCARS still in pre-alpha, waiting for Assetto Corsa which is going to be a great simulator if it is better than NetKar Pro...etc.

GT6 needs to be good no matter what, but I grow up with the series...if it comes out I need to have it...but it doesn´t make me buy a console.
Also hope the simulation aspect of it improves and the engine sound...I care for that this time, not only features as many others ask.

(well, "cool story bro" to myself as usually...)

On the outside chance that GT6 is released on the PS4 I will only buy them when the GT5 servers are shut down and the console price has dropped.

Sony has a habit of supporting older consoles long after its successor has come out.

That being said, yes, when I do buy the PS4 it will only be for GTx and whatever new video -wow- capability (4k movies?) it has.

Good then none of the manufacturers of them will get my $$$.

I dont see why this should be a reason against a PS4.

This feature will only restrict your use of illegal copies of blu-rays. :odd:

I could understand your anger, if there where a technologie that would restrict your use of second hand blu-rays, but there is nothing like that.

But it is your valid opinion. I can live with it.

Nope almost made that mistake with GT5 so glad I did not. Heck waiting around for GT5 even after it released messed around and played games like Wipeout HD/Fury, MGS4, NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 which were far better(Gameplay and maybe even graphical wise depending on how you look at it).

They should have created more ps3 games-_- I hope ps4 is not going to be the same.

Well apparently Sony has been whoring out developer kits and making the games is supposed to be much more easier to code for now that the cell has been dumped in favor of a conventional AMD unit.

Well I hope they do stress everything out and make a lot of excellent popular games. I remember when I had my ps2 I had like 25 different games and for ps3 I only have 6 because there is not a lot of games released that Iam interested in.

8 months after the PS2 launch Gran Turismo 3 was released on the console

Theres a good chance PS4 early adopters wont have to wait long

For those of us that purchased a PS3 solely to play GT5, I'm wondering what GT6 will have to offer beyond GT5 that would make the purchase of a PS4 worthwhile given that we already have 1080p, 3D, and online racing.

While its not yet confirmed that GT6 will be on the PS4, popular opinion seems to moving in that direction.

There are more things that can be improved beyond the 3 things that you list.

Better online, better graphics, better physics, more cars, more tracks and generally more features all round.

and Yes, I'll be buying a PS4 for GT6 (among other games)

, NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 .
my favorite arcade style racer this gen hands down. Felt like a dream come true playing this considering I love HP2 on PS2 growing up.

playstation 3 was released in 2006

gran turismo 5 was released in 2010

4 years we have to wait for a game that was fixed with many updates and wasn't exactly what Kazunori Yamauchi wanted to be.

Maybe making GT6 a launch title isn't exactly great idea. :guilty:

Well, GT5 is preparation work for a lot of what GT6 should bring - plus it was a whole new setup at the time so less time will be needed.

I'll definitely be getting the PS4 but not only for GT6 - I never could understand that.

Maybe you right. I didn't take into consideration that GT5 was huge jump from old graphics into full HD. So now it might take less time as polyphony now knows how to speed things up as they release new car so often in DLC or just like reward car.

I know I'll buy PS4 for GT6. All i play is GT5P & GT5 on the PS3. I have F1 given as a gift and i have not touched it since christmas. I know I won't buy other games for the system at launch. It would have to be other racing games to make me buy anything other than GT. I bought my PS3 in anticipation of GT5. I bought an XBOX to play everything else. Now, in regards to GTA V. If somehow they make a DLC for PS4 then I may consider it or just leave it for XBOX.

Backups are "fair use." The only reason they're allowed to put Cinavia and stuff like that into the things is because of the DMCA - a stupid law written by lobbyists for the MPAA.

I don't see why I can't watch a copy of something I legally purchased at the store.
