Buy a PS4 to play GT6?

Doesnt the ps3 allow a triple monitor setup?
Only if you have three PS3s and three copies of the game.

The ps4 will likely cost close to what a gaming pc would set me back, add to that overpriced and under developed games...

Safe to say I will not buy a ps4.
Where are you getting a gaming rig for +/-£300?

I know I'll buy PS4 for GT6. All i play is GT5P & GT5 on the PS3. I have F1 given as a gift and i have not touched it since christmas. I know I won't buy other games for the system at launch. It would have to be other racing games to make me buy anything other than GT. I bought my PS3 in anticipation of GT5. I bought an XBOX to play everything else. Now, in regards to GTA V. If somehow they make a DLC for PS4 then I may consider it or just leave it for XBOX.

You've got to be kidding me if you're talking about F1 2012 SMDH.

I bought a ps3 for gt5 and that didn't turn out so well for me. The standard cars, screen tearing and horrible online killed it for me.

I will probably skip both consoles this time and stick with PC sims. Great online, graphics, physics and communities. Not much more you could ask for from a racing sim.

I will though keep my eye on it. If the ps4 somehow let's you use triple screens without buying 3 consoles I imagine I will definitely get one and GT6.

From another discussion about the Orbis - tucked away in there is the likely price which equates to 300 of those funny squiggles. Of course that isn't confirmed but the arguments and forecast were quite convincing.

I bought a PS3 for GT5 then waited years for it to arrive (GT5).. when it did I bought another two of them for a triple setup.

I wont be buying iether of them till I've seen and understood there capabilities. If the PS4 and GT6 doesn't support triple screens natively then I'm going PC.

I'm not kidding myself or anyone. I started it, did the tests at Abu Dhabi, did a couple races and had enough of the graphics. It's the same with FM4. Sweet physics in both but, I go back to GT for the graphics. FM4 has some of the best camera angles for watching replays and the sounds and motions of the cars are awesome. I like to race from dusk til dawn or do an hour race just when the sun is setting. I can't do that in either of the other two. I love F1. This will be my third year straight going to the Melbourne GP. Who knows maybe F1 2013 will blow every racing game on PS4 out of the water. But, since buying my PS1 back in '96 and then getting GT in early '98 via Japanese conversion, I'm playing Gran Turismo all day every day.

I might be in the same boat. If only I knew how to build a computer :(

Not getting it. Pretty sure it has a bunch of god damn pointless BS that is supposedly for stopping "piracy".

I would not believe the many rumours now. Just wait till the official facts about the PS4 have been released. Untill then I wouldnt worry to much about these subjects.

In my eyes there wont be a big of a change to the next generation. You probably still get a disc and maybe a code for multiplayer. We probably know more about it in the coming weeks.

There is no dark science behind that. Its more like Lego. I had no idea about mechanics, but I managed to replace a differential, do weight reduction, add sparco belts and more to my car with a little help and time.

There are pretty good manuals on the web and many good youtube channels about that matter.

I dont think that there will be a native support for triple screen with one PS4. It would be cool, but technically not reasonable. Let's say that GT6 will run in full 1080p at 60 fps with very high detailed tracks and cars. The PS4 wont be able to keep the 60 fps at 5780 x 1080 on three screens without making big compromises. And I think that GT5 was nearly the only game that supported the three screens on the PS3. The possible outcome would be that GT6 would run on three screens with 3 PS4s.

Im hoping those who say they're going PC gaming have $700+ laying around, becuase thats what it costs to build a gaming PC at the very minimum.

And PC gaming is cheaper? Have you seen the cost of iRacing? It has a monthly fee on top of high priced DLC. It may be worth it but PC gaming isnt cheap by any means. And then theres the fact your $700+ gaming PC will probably need to be upgraded in 2 years.

Not bashing PC gaming, as I plan on getting one myself sometime this year BEFORE the PS4, but its funny to see comments that act like its such a cheaper or better alternative.

We as comunity should make a thread for console GTPers migrating to PC to make things easier. Stuff with pc can change quite fast. The best thing Imho is wait for the raccomended specs and the benchmarks for Assetto Corsa and pCars. The most demanding sims in terms of hardware.

What if scenario with full price PS4 games, check this post.

Make your own conclusions.

PS: Assetto Corsa and Project Cars will not be subscription based.

You say that like iRacing is the only option for PC gaming or something? Yes it's exensive and that's why many people don't play it. You can't just use that as an argument why PC gaming is more expensive, I've never paid as much for a PC game as I have for a console game.

Also I bought a HD4850 GPU for $125 in 2009 and I haven't replaced it yet, it's still very adequate at playing modern games on settings better than the current consoles. The idea that you have to upgrade a PC every 18-24 months is untrue.

They may not be subscription based, but they'll have activation codes which will restrict what you can do with them. Theres no guarantee if you buy a used PC game with the activation code the guy who sold it to you didnt pirate the game and is playing online with your activation code. Servers do not allow the same activation code to be online at the same time.

Besides, buying a used game doesnt save you much money. You're looking at saving only around $5 per game if you buy it used from someone like Gamestop.

What has any of that got to do with the fact PC games are cheaper brand new and thus PC gaming works out cheaper over 6 years?

No way PC gaming is cheaper over 6 years. HKS Racer assumes console games will be $70, I dont see that happening.

For starters, a PC gamer is already in a $300 hole for building a mid-tier gaming rig. (est $400 console vs est $700 PC)

If a PC gamer pays $10 less per game for 5 games a year over 6 years he finally overcomes the $300 hole he was in.

And what is a PC gamer going to do when 3 years down the line hes forced to play the latest games on minimum graphics settings because his hardware is outdated? He has to upgrade. You're looking at $150-$200 for a new graphics card, around $100 for a new PSU to support that more powerful card, and maybe even a $100 processor upgrade.

He posted in Euros actually. Yes a PC rig is a larger starting point but don't forget, you also get a general use PC for that price. It doesn't just do multimedia and games.

As for $10 less for a PC game it's always a lot more than that, especially with steam sales.

You seem to have completely missed the part of my post where I said I was still playing games with a very reasonable performance, always higher than PS3, on my $125 GPU that is four years old? If I bought an even more powerful/expensive GPU at the time it'd have last even longer.

Not to mention the wide variety of better games there are for the PC. My biggest beef with the PS3 is that once I had Gran Turismo I was hard pressed to find another console exclusive I really wanted. With it looking more and more like GT6 will be a PS4 title I seriously doubt I will go through that again. Especially considering what the new system is likely to cost.

I think the bigger question should be: If GT6 is to be a PS4 launch title will you risk getting a brand new system considering all the problems the previous generation had at launch?

Nope got a PC for $593 and I'm not a graphic whore played Dishonored with some pretty nice settings and it turned out great. It had some lag, but a little lag never bothers me. Mine has a A10 Processor 2.3-3.2(Turbo Boost) I know the story of how come AMD can classified these products as Quad-Core, but they truly aren't(more on that another day), and I got 8GB RAM yeah I'd say my laptop is pretty nice for $593 heck even my Sister laptop has an A8 now it might not run as nice as mine, but she also had 8GB RAM. Just saying.

For the record didn't have to turn my settings to minimum to play Dishonored(Understand why it's GOTY one of the best games I've ever played).

Sorry for Double Post, but...

My answer to your question i won't and didn't this past launch got my PS3 in 2009/2010(Christmas) Glad to because when I got mine all the nicest games had either came out or were coming out, and not only that. We're not guaranteed that GT6 will even be good.

That's the same issue I have.

I waited so long for GT5, hoping it was going to be exactly what I wanted. In hindsight, that was a stupid decision - the game I wanted already existed on PC, no 5 year wait required.

With all that in mind, there is no way I'm waiting x amount of years for game that may or may not be what I want.

If GT6 was coming to PS3, I probably would have waited, but once you factor in the cost of the new console/waiting for the game, a gaming PC just make sense.

I seriously don't even know why some of you are guessing GT6 won't be any good or even solve SOME of the things that were wrong, which IMO, is pretty low. I mean, I'm not guessing GT6 would be the "best and spectaluar racing game ever", but honestly, how about stop PREDICTING so much about how GT6 would be "Ohh well, its going to be bad due to G.T.5. being baaaad" (which I agree GT5 isn't very good >_>), and AT LEAST wait until it shows itself of what's in store for it first...

What's the point in guessing how bad GT6 would be when theres NOTHING that was said about yet it is beyond me. *sigh*

Gamestop? I don't use it. I buy in a well known auction site. Assetto Corsa and pCars Imho are worth the full money, I'll see how the activation code will work, if there are any problems I'll buy them new. For all the rest of games: Steam special offers.

No one is guessing I'm saying we're not guaranteed it will be worth investing money into. You say pretty low GT5 was and will remain the worse GT ever made(In my opinion, but I know for sure other people share that). When you have arcade racers, and even other sims beating you out that says a lot. I know I know arcade =/= sims, but at the end of this day and every other day for the rest of the existence of the earth it's still a doggone VIDEO GAME so no matter how realistic it tries to be it's a video game.

Again I'm not saying GT6 will be bad, but a lot more people are on their toes this time around with GT6 then GT5. If you want to be living in a fairy tale world where GT5 was the best game on PS3 be my guess. I'll be living in reality where it had worse career mode I've ever played, worst track selection, terrible car sounds(heck I'm not even no audio guy like that, but don't matter when a Corvette sounds like a messed up Vacuum cleaner that says a lot. Half-assed content WRC, Rallying period, and Custom Tracks come to mind.

Ok I'm done :) Of course this is all my opinion though

I'll believe it when I'll see it. Actually GT6 is low on my most wanted list:

1- Assetto Corsa
2- Project Cars
3- rFactor 2
4- GTR3 (?)
5- Race Room Racing Experience
6- Whatever Reiza studios will release
7- Forza Motorsport 5
8- Gran Turismo 6.
