At least now they won't have to make an SRX.

If only it were that simple...

BRX --> SRX for 2010, and then we have this... Likely with a better AWD system too.

Looks like the Lansing factory will be busy either way.

It's looking pretty sharp, but not in the league of the coming HSV Tourer, and not many wagons will even challenge the Audi RS6 in terms of performance. I hope it sells well.👍

CTS + DIESEL = WIN?

Rumors are starting to spread of GM considering fitting the new Duramax 4.5-liter turbo diesel V8 in the Cadillac CTS. That would mean an oil-burnin' sedan with a possible 310 HP and at least 520 lb-ft of torque. Think of it as a sort of mid-performance model slotted between the standard 304 HP CTS and the top-spec 556 HP 2009 CTS-V...but with good fuel economy. That's right, not only does the Duramax mill meet new emissions regulations but it's 50-state-legal and it'll also return an estimated 20-25% better fuel economy than a comparable gasoline-powered V8. That efficiency combined with the pavement-melting torque could make for perhaps the best all-around American car ever made.

We know the CTS-V has gone over well with even the most anti-American critical European journalists, like Jeremy Clarkson. Now, imagine a car with many of the CTS-V's sporting upgrades, but with a lower price, just as much torque, and much better fuel efficiency. They've been going crazy over BMW turbo diesels in Europe for years, so a Duramax CTS could finally be Cadillac's big push across the pond. But who knows, maybe the it'll never happen.

I'm all for it, but what ever happened to the diesel V6 option? You know, the 200-ish BHP one with nearly 400 lb-ft? Oh well, I'll have either, and I'm sure that it will be an interesting purchase here in the US given the rate at which the Mercedes and VW diesels disappear.

I say 'win'. The low RPM torque delivery typical of diesels would suit the character of the CTS very well. The 3.6 DI isn't exactly a peaky motor, but you do need all it's revs to extract performance from it. Redlining a Caddy somehow feels... unseemly.

Good competition for the 335d.

I'd rather something more refined than a van engine...although, It worked for Porsche, in the 924...

Hey! Thats the only shred of goodness that my Fox shared its engine platform with that of a Porsche!
