It does look reminiscent of Fuel of War, but the story sounds kinda like Rise of the Machines to me, based on that video (minus the nuclear weaponry).

To be honest though, my interest in CoD games has waned since MW3, and this doesn't look any better.

Very interesting trailer. I'll be keeping an eye on this. I like that they've decided to go with a futuristic type of backdrop for the game (though I am aware that this is nothing really new in games). I also like how it tackles the fears associated with a technology-heavy (robots and such) society: what happens if the bad guys take control?

Side note: Looks like the XM8 rifle will be in the game, along with what looks like the M249 SAW, M16, and some future-looking pistol and shotgun. :)

I agree with Speed on this one, but I won't be handing out my gaming $s just like that on a good story. A game has to be well balanced, and by all indications, this one it ain't. I mean horses? Who rides horses in a futuristic age when you can hot wire a 70's car that will do the same thing plus carry more people.

I don't know about others, but I really enjoyed the storyline behind Black Ops & the game felt refreshing to be placed during the Cold War era. That being said, I'm assuming this one must have some sort of relevance to be called Black Ops II besides it being called the "21st Century Cold War".

I am a bit excited though by the hinted storyline in the trailer (the keys to our own defenses are stolen & used against us), so I guess I am looking forward to this. However, like Black Ops 1, it may be weekly rental for me as even the zombies (which I'm doubting will return now) couldn't contain my interest for very long.

Yeah, I agree with you, but for me CoD ended after trying Black Ops.

Still playing CoD4 (PC) and its just so much better than todays trash!

I love a good campaign, which both the MW series and Black Ops has,
but the multiplayer in Black Ops and MW3 are just horrible!

And they just keep throwing out this garbage at us...

Bring back CoD4 remake, with new maps and weapons, but keep the killstreaks of only UAV, Airstrike and Helicopter,
and keep everything else, and maybe specially the server system for PC.
That was a great system, and that and the great gameplay is why CoD4 is still very popular today.

It's just... ALOT more fun... :dopey:

Zombies returning.

During the latest episode of Roll Call on Call of Duty Elite TV, Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia stated, ”If you like zombies, you’re going to be really happy with what we’re doing with Black Ops 2. It’s our biggest, most-ambitious zombies ever.”

I don't know what to think, other Call of Duty games managed to call my attention but this one is not that interesting, I'm not sure if it has something to do with the setting, graphics or overall visual design but this looks really average in my opinion (Scenarios look pretty much generic futuristic setting). Graphic technology really seems to be far behind other games (direct competition like Crysis 3 and Battlefield 3 do show better graphics), there seems to be new mechanics introduced which might be interesting, but taking COD BlackOps vehicles sections into account they will probably be very arcade-ish, which might not be a bad thing but considering what other games have to offer it might fall behind in comparison.

Black Ops story was pretty damn good, but it was also structured with the setting from the late sixties which was pretty interesting because there aren't many games that manage to capture the events that happen back in cold war and the related affairs that Black ops managed to capture. A future setting in contrast might fall into a generic setting, the trailer heavily implies that there might be some sort of computer uprising or something (kind of like Terminator), but the visual design and visual settings looks too average and normal that makes it really meh(Halo, Deux Ex, BF2142, MAG and Fuel of War seems to have similar settings to this). I will probably rent it (Not buying CODs anymore).

This really starts to show how the Modern Warfare thing might be dying down, the over usage of modern war settings seems to be ending, which is a good thing but this doesn't have any elements of interest that might make it shine from other things that are to come.

So...this is just CoD: Ghost in the Shell Edition with Random Horses thrown in for who knows why? Seriously, it's like CoD developers spent the past year watching Anime and Westerns and decided to try and combine them.

I think the inclusion of horses are pretty clever. I'm guessing that either the government or military can take control of most vehicles for certain purposes (e.g. If someone steals a car, the police can track it down and remotely stop it). Since Woods asks what happens if the enemies find the key. The enemy should be able to remotely control all tanks, jets and stuff. So the protagonists will have to use other methods of transport.

W00t, Zombies are back :D

The engine is what matters to me, MW3 felt very old because of the engine, this again has the same one, which really looks odd since it's in the future, if my friends get it, I MIGHT wait for a price drop then get it

Woods is alive! I'm pretty interested in this actually, compared to the MW3 first trailer which made me think 'meh, whatever.'

Future, eh...

I knew that someday, CoD will focus on future warfare. Can't wait to see what features it's gonna offer.

Well I'd only get it for zombies, it just seems like it's trying to be Halo sort of...

Not really, Halo is pretty far into the future while this is only around 2025. There's no hover cars or anything.
Plus, IIRC the storyline is pretty unique. There have been movies where the drones develop AI and attack the humans. But not where the enemy hacks into them and controls them.

The following post is a complaint to Treyarch

Treyarch have made the right choice by looking at what some people want. In this case, it is a futuristic game. But that is only for those some people. I wanted "Call of Duty 9", not "Crysis of Halo 1".
I am, however glad that they have brought back zombies, though I do hope they do not make it futuristic too.
I will buy this game, but it is very likely that it will go back to the shop soon after.

Nag over.

Plus, if you think about it, MW2 (and 3) were set in 2016, no?

I love the way Treyarch credit David S. Goyer with writing THE DARK KNIGHT and creating the Joker for the film. He did no such thing. Goyer wrote the story with Christopher Nolan, which is basically just an extended recount of the film's events. It basically serves as a scaffold for the screenwriter to work with. If Goyer had created the Joker, he would have received a different credit, because under the rules set out by the Screenwriters' Guild of America, producers have to submit all documentation related to the scripts, and they decide which credit that person should receive. For example, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade wrote an early draft of QUANTUM OF SOLACE that was ultimately scrapped, and Paul Haggis was brought in to replace him. But because Purvis and Wade wrote that original draft, the SGA awarded them a full screenwriting credit.

So if David Goyer had actually created the Joker or done anything more substantial than simply writing a story treatment, the SGA would have given him a different credit. Therefore, Treyarch have no idea what they're talking about when they claim he wrote the film and invented the Joker in THE DARK KNIGHT. Jonathan Nolan was actually much more influential in the development of the Joker.

Yes, they were. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few references from the Modern Warfare series in Black Ops II.

I suggest that any CoD Zombie fan should read this short article, as it gives us a sense of what Zombies will be like.

I believe that will happen. According to sources, Treyarch confirmed that Zombies is set in the future.

Anyways, I personally find the article interesting, and I am waiting anxiously for the release of BO II.. As I have been a fan of Zombies for awhile now. I'm hoping for some new wonder weapons!

And in the means of other things, BO II's campaign looks quite good. The trailer is nice, but I just hope the game doesn't fail to amuse me. I'll get it either way, though. (Zombies)
