Okay, that's weird. I just came into this thread without any idea what Oni91 had posted, only to find that he's also done some circuits in Nottingham. Ooo-eee-ooo ...

The riot coverage was on TV so I thought I might as well, as I go to University there. Nice coinkydink there. Also your tracks are a bit considerably better.

Derby, UK

It's Nottingham's not-as-good younger brother. Track's 2.8mi and pretty much designed to keep the Abbey street downhill straight fully intact.

If you fancy a bit of a challenge, try using Derby's A601 to make a UK version of Long Beach.

And from messing about with the last one in Nantes, we go a little south-west to:

Pont-Saint Martin, France(2.96mi)

Yes, I know this is going to tear through what is probably a lovely picturesque French village, but I just love the Vignoble-Nantes section, as well as the Ricardo Tormo-esque section at du Lac.

A something i sketched recently. i didn't really plan on the track, i just started with start/finish straight and went from there. Sorry for the bad photo, crappy versions in upper left corner and the scales. i just figured out it would be too long...

anyway, a description:

After passing the start/finish line, driver passes through right-left combo of turns 1 and 2. I had the Nurburgring chicane in mind (before the remake of opening section of the circuit - 2004/5 was it?) but i made the second corner more open. The duo of corners leads into turn 3 a tricky hairpin which leads drivers into difficult middle section of circuit with a combinations of quick turns. Starting off with turn 4, a gentle right hand sweeper leading to turn 5, left-hander slightly inspired by silverstone to turn 6, sharp right-hand corner. After a brief straight drivers turn to left through smooth, yet tight corner 7 and continue through gentle uphill chicane to a short straight which is ended by turn nine, hard left hairpin which descends a bit, drivers brake into the corner and steer at the same time, cause by a left-handed bend before the hairpin itself.
A short straight follows up, succeeded by a fast lefthander, turn 10. The track drops under the bridge at the exit of the corner and climbs up throughout the corner 11. following up, is a corner 12 a little tribute to old Fuji circuit. Right hander is significantly banked in its first apex, but in the second part of the corner, the angle decreases, making the southeast part of the curve difficult to master. If the driver succeeds and maintains good exit speed he would have a great chance for overtaking in the turn 13, inspired by hockenheim's stadium section. Turn 14 offers a good chance for overtaking too. The turn 15 is a complex of two difficult right-lefts which make braking into the final turn of the circuit a little harder than if there was a straight. The final turn is a slightly downhill right-angle right-hander. Then the drivers face only slightly uphill left bend and the start/finish straight itself.

This was the GP version of the circuit, it has 3 other layouts which can be combined to make even more.

The first altered version is identical with the GP track at most of its length, but being designed for motorbikes, it leaves out the banking and uses a similar shape right-handed corner, which is flat.

Second one would be used primarily for smaller events/ national series. Beginning of the track is identical with previous layouts, but instead of turning left to the turn 7 drivers continue through a gentle left bend braking into tight right6hand corner in the place of original circuit's turn 11. Elevation change makes this a little difficult. Then the track joins original layout in the turn 14.

Last but not least, is a high-speed layout. After exiting turn 3 and a tiny right sweep drivers turn left onto a straight, which is not really a straight because it goes left a tiny bit. After thet and high-speed right sweep, they slam the brakes into a tight right corner. Exit of the corner leads to turn 10 of GP circuit, continuing on the GP layout until turn 14, at the exit of which, drivers turn left and by taking a long right-handed corner byoass the tricky turn 15 of the original circuit. After that, the track joins the original turn 16 and continues to finish line.

Where exactly do you get your inspiration Interludes? Are you extremely well travelled or is this just a little hobby where you pick a new city once in a while and try and design a circuit?

Pretty much the latter. I try and pick out what looks good in a city and use it accordingly. I'm mostly going after the shape rather than the actual location. Like in the Vancouver one - to create it exactly would no doubt require demolishing buildings, but that's not the point. It's a design that I could see being lifted and purpose-built somewhere else.
