Damnit! I love the ZL1 and now the Z/28 comes around! I wonder which will be faster... đź’ˇ

The ZL1 should have a 75 hp and 25 lb/ft torque advtange PLUS the magnetic ride control.

But the Z/28 is 300 lbs lighter with a very capable Z06 engine!

The big thing people are missing with the Z/28 is that GM found a way to make the car lose 300 lbs. Thinner glass, lighter weight panels, and A/C delete all add up to a car that can actually dip to within striking distance of the Mustang, or about 3600 lbs. That's a pretty substantial thing to consider when you're adding another 80+ BHP to the car, along with sticky rubber and a properly set up suspension. Fair assumption would be that the Z/28 won't have any problem wiping the floor with the BOSS 302 or the GT500.

Thing is, all of these updates only amount to holdover techniques until the new car arrives in 2015 or so. Keep in mind kids, it's getting smaller, and should pack more power.

I wonder if Ford will counter. I'd love to see the 6.2 liter hurricane/boss (Raptor engine) retuned for Mustang duty, a sort of last hurrah for the current Mustang. Perhaps call it the GT 390. Or, my personal favorite, Cobra R. With different engine tuning, I think the 6.2 could just about equal the LS7 in power/torque figures. Weight will be quite a bit higher though, engine wise.

I would love a modern GT 390. I agree the 6.2 could easily push out those type of figures. Even if they took a GT500 5.8 and de-tuned it slightly and put it into a lighter Mustang body, that would probably work as well.

No, I think using a supercharger in this type of car is a bad idea. The weight associated with the supercharger (heavier block, intercooler + heat exchanger + blower itself) will cause it to be nose heavy, and then superchargers have heat soak. Both of these things will hurt it's performance and longevity on a race track or even spirited driving on the road.

6.2 N/a is the way to go, IMO.

When you put it that way, I see you points. Didn't think of that.

Motortrend explaints it well:

"Final power figures have not been announced, but Chevrolet promises at least 500 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. The LS7 was selected over the supercharged LSA for its broad torque curve and high 7000-rpm redline, which makes it well-suited for high-speed track driving."

With all the mentions of it's weight in most reviews & comparisons, I hoped GM would focus on bringing the weight down. While the visual differences look nice, I would've preferred some attention to that weight.

It will be on the same platform as the ATS and CTS which are both the featherweights of their respective classes.

I still never really cared much for the other Camaro but this is looking even worse. The front is barely tolerable but the rear tail lights are TERRIBLE. đź‘Ž I also still feel they need to redesign the sides to be more like the 69 Camaro. I think eventually the will get there, but it looks like it wont be for a while. They clearly put most of their design resources into the 2014 Stingray because that car is so sick!!

I think manufacturers are going to steer away from the retro look from now on.

I like the SHOgun in that Leno video. But, yeah, that Z/28 is nice. I'd have one though, looks like I'll be getting an imported Mustang first.

I've seen a few in DME...it's not as nice as I was expecting. The tail lights look a little underwhelming rather than elegantly minimalist.

I have pictures of a yellow 2014 convertible I'll post when I can. With the pictures I've seen on the net, I really did think the new design was just another step in the wrong direction. But, I actually quite liked it. To me it makes the car look smaller and definitely looks a lot more appealing than the out going model to me.

I saw one at the local Chevy dealership Friday. It was black and I must say looks substantially better in person. I like it.

Yeah seen about three sofar and one i saw at a dealer had a rather ugly chrome trim piece that ran across the edge of the top front bumper :yuck:

Ill see if i cant grab a pic tomorrow.

The front looks great in person, but the back leaves a bit to be desired. The subtle improvements to the interior are welcome, but they weren't as much as what I wanted.

Here are my few pictures I quickly took.

I didn't have my phone with me (on account of my daughter dropping it in her bubbles), so I grabbed my ex's phone and snapped the shots very quickly.

Still not a fan of the rear. Looks incredibly bland and that chrome strip on the grill sure looks tacked on.

The back makes it look like a bad 90's Japanese car...

Chevy has gotten incredibly lazy with their designs for the next models.

Corvette looks fine until you see a glimpse of the rear
The Tahoe/Suburban looks like a Ford Escalade(don't give me that look I know Cadillac makes it)
Silverado... there's nothing at all new except for a bar going through the headlights(but it does look better)
