I've never been much of a fan of the new Camaro, and yeah, the Prelude-like rear end of the 2014's didn't exactly have me ready to change my mind. Autoblog's Deep Dive has put the car in a new light, though. That thing looks evil.

Is that LS9 stenciled on that hood scoop..? Oy.. They should make a twinturbo V6 performance variant..

Turbo LS9 IROC-Z....yes please. I rather like it. Could be a track only car.

Unless there were other turbo Camaros from Chevrolet, that would be the only suitable option.

Which part of V6 you missed?

Because if a Camaro called an IROC-Z had a V6 and was sold as a performance car, GM would have to answer to about a million letters from people who send them hate mail. The V6 belongs in the base model and nowhere else.
But Yenko was a dealer/tuner so could GM even use the name with out a trademark battle?

Like the Z/28 where is doesn't fit a class at all?
Would be interesting...

A million letters from these guys:

Would probably be fun to read.

There wasn't a turbo Camaro that made it to production that I'm aware of. The Pontiac Firebird, it's platform-mate, had an available 3.8L turbocharged Buick V6 in 1989 only.

The Firebird also had a turbo 4.9L V8 in the early '80s but was built poorly and didn't last very long. It did alright but people tried to drive them like big blocks and had poor maintenance so many of them grenaded. I think it was made for like 2 years. It was rated 210hp/345tq which was phenomenal for the time, considering most V8 cars hadn't made it out of the 140hp crisis yet.

Please do not speak of the Turbo 301 anymore. :P It turns out GM owns the rights to the name Yenko so its wide open on that one. I would love to see a TT V6 Camaro it would be a damn good car and might get Ford to put the 3.5 TT in the Mustang.

That would be a conversation for another topic/thread.

Still don't see what is wrong with push rod V8s, but hell is more likely to freeze over before they put a performance 6 cylinder in their Muscle/Sport Car. Plus GM is has Cadillac to play the role of sport coupe with a V6 TT

Reciprocating mass.

Some designs have more than others.

Yes, and some are designed to have less than those that usually would. E.g. a super car V8 vs a sporty V6.

These engines (Vette engines) are designed to keep it as low as possible for such an engine and they make it work quite well.
