Wondering whether we'll get this new 8 speed auto some pople have been talking about or not...

It has also occured to me just now that including this car there are only 3 base model vettes in the game.

Bit much wouldnt you say? I was simply saying what I would have said... Jesus, no need to get all up tight about it.

Lol, sorry, that guy was doing my head in, they know perfectly well what i'm getting at, just interfering for interferings sake!

Again Sorry Nismo!

Everyone did know what you were getting at. It's just that what you were getting at ("If you don't like what PD is doing for GT5, then just stop coming to GTP") is a complete load, hence "I'm tired of people saying GT Planet is dedicated to GT5 when that is not true at all."

Yes, including me. 90% of the posts seem to be already off topic.

Thats what happens when you get a bunch of kids in the room salivating over a car in a video game that we don't even have yet, lol. Ah yea, let the hate posts begin, lol, I stirred up the pot now!! jk

Seriously tho guys, everyone just needs to relax a bit and just go back to playing the game or whatever. I can understand the excitement, but some of you are treating this like the second coming of Christ, lol. Just relax, the car will get here in due time.

This thread is just like a train wreck, completly derailed!

OT: I sure hope it is not a 7 or 8 speed tranny because I use the H-pattern shifter and it only lets me use 6 then ya heve to switch to paddles and that gets so confusing sometimes.

IGN, Eurogamer etc are gaming sites!
GTPlanet is focused primarily on the Gran Turismo series, hence the name!

And WTF this has to do with the Corvette i don't know!

This made lol, because it's so true - I had to unsubscribe from this thread because there was so many messages being added that were not interesting, nor was I able to catch up and read them all to follow the thread - the car is on its way, just be patient. I like Corvette's and I like the GT-R Black Mask and would love to drive the C7 in it's camo but I'm not cumming in my pants over the anticipation of a new car . . . it's just a new car - another Chevrolet as well, big deal, I am glad though that it's not another Skyline. All this conjecture and hoping and praying that it will be here soon is not helping and PD will release it in their own good time. Until then calm down and be patient this thread is getting old now.

I have no luck getting the C7 demo :( Anyone can guess what sort of pp the car will be ? I may want to try arcades races, see if it shows up as opponent car.

apart from all
who would like to drive a car in the game with this camouflage?

Me, and a bunch of people. You never envy those guys that do private testing for manufacturers? I do... a lot of car nuts probably do too.

GTPlanet is focused primarily on the Gran Turismo series, hence the name!

It took me quite awhile to figure this out, but GTPlanet is divided into two parts.

1 - The Gran Turismo News Section - A place where GT related information goes.

2 - The Forum Section - A place where GT fans, trolls, and fishermen go.

Once you have that understanding, this place will look a lot different to you.

It has also occured to me just now that including this car there are only 3 base model vettes in the game.

Not sure the Z06 C5 and Z06 C6 would count as Base model Corvettes, I would think those are performance versions. Technically, the C7 would be the first base model Corvette in GT5.

A trick you can do is go into options, go to demo, set the Max Demo time to 10 seconds and set the interval the demo comes on to 10 seconds (Make sure to have "Display" checked). Then when the on-track demos start, press R1 or L1 and it'll skip straight to another display. You could likely get it to show up in less time.

Thanks 👍 Will try that.

What a waste of time. First they give us an unfinished game. Two years on, we see an unfinished car. I'll never understand what goes through PD's heads...

Certainly not paying to drive around under a tarpaulin and gaffer tape.

Ok so go find a pic or a video of the C7 whit out the camo or the covers

Just wondering, whats the big deal of going through all the time and trouble of seeing it on your own TV when pics have already been posted on here of the car and what it looks like. Just seems like a waste of time when you already have seen all you're going to see on here. I just don't get it.

I don't like driving interior-less cars in GT5, so I'll be happier when I can drive the final version.

I agree with your point, but someone might say it was a waste of time modelling the non-final version of the car when we should be getting it in full in January. The model of this version won't become obsolete once we get the "real" version. It's not really a waste since I can see some mean looking photos being taken of it. Generational side-by-side photos of the Premium Corvettes, whatever looks cool.

And what I think is a very good point \/\/\/\/
It's just PD. Think about the many concept cars and novelty cars like the WWII vehicles and SambaBus. It's unique having something like this and in a game when no other game will have it (probably).

As long as the interior's modeled this time. The Black Mask GT-R's isn't, right?
It's TOTALLY unique having this "camo" version of the C7 using this medium. It's GT, one of the most popular "video games" in the world. And we'll never get to see this exterior in the real world, unappealing or not. I actually love the look. What'll suck is that PD will likely not add the interior to the "camo" version when they've given us the final. :grumpy:

:) Aw, no acronym will suffice to describe my laughter just now...

Way to overreact. More time was wasted by people responding to my last comment than the guy who modelled a wrapped-up car!

My point elaborated: Going to the trouble of modelling a camouflaged test car smacks of having too much time on one's hands. I just don't get the point. A picture of it isn't something we can't easily find on Google Images. Alright, we may not even have this version as a driveable car in the game. Personally, I'd have had them model up another car which has actually been released (with the manufacturer's permission of course). The new Viper would've been nice...

The new Viper would have been scrutinized because it wasn't a 'first'. PD stayed ahead of the curve this time.

C'mon man. It's for the fun factor, something GT could use a little more of.

First, mock. Then, that? :dunce:

I'd just like to add that this is probably one of the most interesting developments that's been in GT5 ever. A fun surprise. A neat publicity stunt. Most of us are car nuts to begin with and a new model of one of the most iconic and successful sports cars is a highly anticipated event. I love seeing those camo shots in car magazines and try to discern the actual appearance.

Sure the new Viper is a big deal too but the Corvette's heritage makes any major redesign a media event.

I agree, this is both great for GT5 and GM. Such a smart advertising move. Looking forward to taking that C7 out for a spin!

Jesus, you really can't let it drop can you? Stop the presses folks, you can no longer express what you do and don't want in this (or any) game, it's not your game.

Nobody said that, Simon. There's a distinct difference between "expressing" what you want and flat-out bellyaching like a disgruntled old fart.

No it doesn't. We don't even know the details of its inclusion yet, nor can we automatically assume that they will put it into the game the same way that they did with cars in the past, so currently the only appreciation people can get from PD's effort is looking at the pictures of it in this thread.

Which is still appreciation on some level, I've enjoyed the thread and the process of verifying the car's existence in the game. Not a waste.
No you didn't. You did a little game of wordplay, directly mocked a couple people and then acted like the matter was settled. And while that's pretty rich for you of all people to do that, you didn't do anything towards proving his "assertion" wrong.

It only takes one person to enjoy it and there was good reason to include it, especially when the overall impact to the rest of the game is unlikely to have been anything measurable. Just the viral marketing effect of the "revelation" will benefit PD. As for the "richness", I hope you're enjoying the opportunity. ;)
If you could actually apply the concept of demonstrably false opinions to this situation, you already would have by now, because:

I would assume that the best use of PD's time would be not doing something that contributes directly (if you want to assume that this will be exactly the same situation as the Black Mask GT-R) towards something that PD promised they would tone down doing in response to people taking issue with them doing it. If that was the basis for him saying PD was wasting their time, his argument in practical terms is little different from when PD makes DLC versions of cars already in the game.

What did people take issue with? The black mask GTR? Why? I thought it was fine, personally, although the cynic in me obviously had a little laugh about the whole "manufacturer tie-in" malarkey. Maybe it's different because it's not Nissan this time? All of which would have been fine if the original poster said any of this, so at best you're just putting words in his mouth (which is pretty rich for you of all people.)
I'm going to keep this one for future use. Should come quite in handy any time you express an opinion about something PD decides to do regarding the direction of the series from now on. Because apparently if you aren't bankrolling it, you aren't allowed to say anything now.

Who said that? You jumped to the same stupid conclusion Simon did, based on what? A bit of sarcasm? Well done. Simon's example was on a whole different level - he equated an employer (who we'll assume holds the purse strings) complaining about an employee not doing any work to the original poster's griping, not me.

Honestly I don't see it having anything to do with a TT. And here's why.

Normally, when they want to give out a car or something is up, they label it as a "special event" in the seasonals. These never have anything to do with the normal TT and drift trials.

And personally, I don't see them having a car giveaway in a normal time trial or drift trial or seasonal event. I only see them doing such a thing in a special event. And these usually have a big announcement made about them. Even if the car was needed to be kept secret, you'd believe that they'd at least tell us a day in advance, so everybody would swap NFS for GT5 so they could play the special event. Otherwise, what's the point of putting it in the game if you don't want a little hype about it all.

Even when they had the special academy car events, they announced them, even though they only said "special prizes will be awarded"

Because of this, I highly doubt that it'll be released in the TT tomorrow.. :( but I could always be wrong. Hopefully I am this time.

Another guess, Something will happen at the reveal. Basically PD will be in the house and this is when a code will be made available. Maybe have to visit the local GM dealer to get a code.

Nice to know that PD's famous "6 month modeling time" (which, regardless of accuracy, is at least understandable ignorance to posess) is appreciated so much by people who might as well have looked at the already-available spy photos of the car on the internet for weeks now.

So there was good reason to include it? You know why they included it in the game and didn't tell anyone about it? Because for all we know, it could have been an accident just like it was an accident that it was found in the first place.

Just the viral marketing effect of the "revelation" will benefit PD.

They certainly got tons of talking points about the NSX concept when they showed that off in GT5, didn't they? Everyone remembers the GT5 association, and it wasn't in fact generally just ignored entirely in favor of news about the car itself.

By the way:

EDIT: If he's thinking all we're going to get is the camo'd version, I think he probably wants to re-read the thread / news / remember the GTR in 5 Prologue. That's a pretty daft assumption.
Since the idea of people thinking that PD would model a car as part of a publicity stunt and then do something weird with their implementation in the game is so daft, isn't that NSX that they modeled and showed driving on a fictional GT5 track so much fun to use in GT5?

You're acting as if this is all so lovingly cut and dried and that makes the original guy so obviously wrong that you can claim that is a "sky is blue" situation, and based on what? One example of precedent from a completely different company that PD has obviously always had a special relationship with?

All of which would have been fine if the original poster said any of this, so at best you're just putting words in his mouth (which is pretty rich for you of all people.)

You're right. What was I thinking. If only I had qualified my statement as being a supposition to make it clear that I was speaking for why he might feel that way rather than conclusively stating why he is. I could have even phrased said qualifier like, say, "If that was the basis for him saying" than my massive gaffe could have been avoided.

Silly me.

Who said that? You jumped to the same stupid conclusion Simon did, based on what? A bit of sarcasm? Well done.

Then what was the intended conclusion of "Oh, I didn't realise he'd commissioned PD to make this game for him. I can see why he'd be upset, now, $60 million is a lot of money." if it meant something besides "he wasn't paying for the game's development, so what he says is irrelevant?" Because even seeing it in the context of what Simon said, I'm not seeing how it means anything but that.

I like this theory. What if they pick random winners for an exclusive chance of an early test-drive?

Whoo, can't wait for this Corvette. If this is the base model, then possibly more versions can come their way, like Z06.
And then instead of duplicate GTRs, it would be duplicate Corvettes. :sly:

Has anybody seen this ?

http://www.autoweek.com/article/201...s-in-Gran-Turismo-5&utm_campaign=awdailydrive

Word got around pretty quick.

I liked this bit-
"We put a call in to Chevy to ask what the deal was: All they would say is that Chevy is working closely with the Sony to offer players of GT5 an authentic driving experience with the new Corvette. Chevy said more details would be available at a later date." -Jake Lingeman, Autoweek

Sounds good to me.
