I would be fine with either Fuji version. It's not the greatest challenge to drive on, but what it does offer is a very wide track, lots of room for error and passing, and it's relatively flat, except for the last couple of corners, making it easy to predict what your car is going to do, so close quarters racing is usually ok there.

Some of the best, most exciting battles I've ever had online were at Fuji. Never ran the Cappy there though...could take 6 or 7 minutes just to do the front straight...lol.

Oh yeah, I just realized iForce's suggestion was to run Fuji instead of Monaco. I meant to suggest Fuji for the week off, not to replace Monaco. I'm looking forward to Monaco in the Cappy, I think the car is well suited to that track.

I didn't even realize I quoted myself...lol.

Actually, after re-reading I'm not sure iforce was suggesting that. Might've been exactly what you initially thought - Fuji for an off-week, and a new track instead of Monaco.

Yeah Fuji just for fun on Monday before the 2.0

I left space between thoughts.

But its hard to tell sometimes.

So i'll say it here.

Or here.A new track like (insert name here) over Monaco 👍👍

My favorite track to drive is Trial Mountain. Not so much in Capp, but still really fun.
I've always found TM a challenge to drive but its not great track to race on.Remember one thing about TM,its an original GT track and was never designed to race online so things like passing zones werent big factors in its design.

But Fuji doesnt have a monkey or the Loch Ness monster either so it not all bad.;)

Never thought of it like that. And I love your picture.👍

TM is one of my favorites as well (besides the Nurb/Nord). One of my first online races was at TM with the Concours club running M3s. The racing was actually pretty good.

The race lounge is open, qualifying will start at 10pm EDT.

I apologize in advance for any and all incidents that happen tonight. This is not a good track for a large number of cars and it will get ugly. Poor choice of track on my part, but we won't run here again.

Wait, I know about the loch ness monster. But where's the monkey?

On one of the tree branches stretching over the track. There's a thread about it somewhere.

Here are the results from Friday night's races. Much better racing tonight, for the most part. Good job guys.

FRIDAY RACE 2 RESULTS

First race tonight was pretty good. By the convo after the race it sounded like everyone was doing virtual high 5's and backslapping at how much better we all were than the Tuesday crowd. Race 2...yeah not a lot of backslapping after that one...lol.

I watched the replay because I got into Trackbound on lap 6 exiting the first hairpin. At the time I thought you had swerved over into me Track, to avoid someone scraping the wall on the outside of the exit of the corner and it appeared that way on the replay. Sorry Trackbound but there was nothing I could do to avoid you, there was nowhere for me to go.

Maybe a little lighter crowd will make a less eventful day tomorrow...lol.

Good Q run Cipher and a pretty good finish all things considered. Excellent second race Cam.

No hard feelings. That turn has been a thorn for everyone this week at some point. It was also an equalizer if you could get through. I think it was a good track Brandon...we all need that once in a while.

I was extremely busy this week, so I couldn't study Tuesday's race. So, I had to run this track constantly to even be remotely competitive tonight.

59.1!!! And 10th!!

I'm happy.:)

And sorry CAM. again and again and again.

I took another look at the Race 2 replay this morning. I want to throw this out there for everyone but particularly for Cipher and Cam. Understand I'm not being judgmental here, just offering up some advice for what it's worth and hopefully you can use this advice to your advantage in the future.

You guys could easily have finished 1-2 in that second race. I wasn't anywhere near you guys so I didn't see what happened up front but watching the replay you guys put on a heck of a show. Passing and repassing, lap after lap, door handle to door handle racing with a bit of contact but nothing major. And Cipher's pass on Cam going from full speed down into the dead slow in the first hairpin several laps in could easily be in a demo video of how to complete a pass going into a tight hairpin on a track that's two cars + 1 tire wide. Until you missed your braking point a few laps in Cipher, it was excellent racing.

However, as exciting as those first few laps were, that is what cost you guys the race. I'm as excited as you guys about executing a good pass, and in 4 or 5 laps online sprints it's pass or be passed, there's not much waiting or racecraft. But in these 15 lap races you have really give some thought about where and when to pass. As you and Cam passed and repassed, you're sending a signal to the other guy, "watch your mirrors man I'm coming for you" and so you have to constantly watch and defend and be sure you don't make contact.

This slows you down. You are both capable of running high 58's and given how even the field was and how far back the faster drivers were, you could have won the race with high 58's easily. You guys pulled out a small gap in spite of the battling, enough to break the draft I think early on, but your constant battle allowed the pack behind to catch up. Had the pack not caught up to you Cipher, you would not have been in that position to miss your braking point because it would have been just you and Cam out for a Sunday cruise.

Instead, what you might have done is send a signal to Cam saying, "Go as hard as you can man, don't worry I'm going to slot in behind you and not try to pass". Watch most race replays and you'll see when two fast guys get out in front, inevitably they bump draft to try and create a gap behind them both to secure your position, and so you have some room to breathe and try to make some riskier maveuvres that will slow you a bit, but won't matter because the gap is so big. Had you bump drafted Cam and backed off going into the corners and never "show" a pass, Cam can concentrate on just running hot laps, and you can gain from his draft as well, making you both faster.

If Cam makes a mistake, by all means go on by, and then he can bump draft you for a while to maintain the gap. Usually within 2 laps of the finish, it's understood it's every man for himself at this point and the lead car can now expect a pass at anytime, and so begin blocking and taking a more conservative racing line to close the door behind him.

But had you worked together, bump drafting and swapping places only when mistakes are made, you guys would easily have finished 1-2, I have no doubt of that. It's not always outright speed that wins races, especially on tight tracks like this where it's hard to pass, but good racecraft and patience will always lead to better finishes and more fun in the end.

And again, I offer this up not as criticism, because you guys are entitled to race however you like, there are no rules against racing door handle to door handle every lap. It's cool if that's what you want to do too. But I suspect you guys would have been happier with a 1-2 finish with no passing than how it ultimately turned out, so I hope this helps a little bit for the next race.

See Tuesday night race 1 as the prime example of this.Dsg and i swapped positions at the first turn lap 1 and the positions didnt change again until lap 13.I was shocked to see that we were 20 seconds ahead of the field at the end.

And this is why points for laps led would be good. Keep two people from bumping up so far.

I disagree with bump drafting outside NASCAR and large ovals. But meh

I race how is needed to attempt a win. Relative to the rules.

Honestly enjoyed the races last night. This track is so simple yet requires you to be on it in every turn or you will fade.

My point was regarding the constant position changes not the part about bump drafting. There was very little if any as the gap was always about 1 sec.

If you want to add up laps led for 3 races per week with an average of 10+ drivers per race then maybe we can add it. :)

In faster cars bump drafting is risky but in the little Cappy it's safer and necessary.

Yeah, I guess I was a bit impatient. I could have taken 2nd in stride, but I think seeing the opportunity got the best of me. I feel like Vettel losing to Jenson Button in the last lap at Montreal.:guilty:

Next time I'll think things through.

Here are the results from Saturday's races. Congrats to Brosif and Wiifreak on their victories. Pretty clean racing today, 👍 to all.

We are going to delay Round 3 by 1 week until we can thoroughly test the 2.0 update. We will still meet at our normal times for racing and testing, can't wait until 2.0 Tuesday!!!

So, does anyone have their heart set on buying all the DLC if it's priced? I think I'm gonna buy it all, I want to have as complete of a game as I can.

And how can I watch Friday's replays?

I'll buy the extra tracks but I'm not too bothered about the driving suits and helmets. I just hope there are some classic tracks in there like Silverstone.

If you saved Friday's relays, you can watch them back from the little movie camera icon on the main menu. If you didn't save them, you'll need some kind soul to upload them for you.

LOL...man don't get discouraged. We've all done the same thing at one time and there's no better place to learn than here in the Capp Cup. The cars are small, the power is low, but the racecraft is exactly the same as in a GT500 or LMP race, just slower. When I was younger and raced Karts I raced slower 4 stroke karts for a couple of years and that's where I learned to draft and pass and set someone up because the karts were so even. When I moved up to the much faster two cycle karts I think I was a much better driver because I learned everything at a slower pace.

The main thing to keep in mind is, when you aren't in the middle of a heated multi-car battle, is to keep thinking ahead. I'm always asking myself,

"Where do I want to be next lap, the lap after that...etc.?"

"How many laps should I follow driver X waiting for him to make a mistake before I make a clean pass and am I falling behind the car in front of him?"

"Can I catch the car in front of the car directly in front of me before the race is over, and if not, then I'm racing only for this one position so plan accordingly".

I put as much effort into going for a win, as I do running around in 5th with 2 laps to go trying to figure out how to get past the 4th place guy in front of me. I also do my best to signal the car ahead of me whether I intend to challenge lap after lap or am content to ride behind, give a little push and make up some ground on the cars ahead and behind. I figure if I bump draft someone a couple of times he realizes that, barring a mistake on his part, I'm going to stay back there a while and not challenge every corner. I do this because I want him to go as fast as possible and carry me along with him.

Bump drafting at Madrid probably only shaved off a tenth or two at most, so I did it mostly to signify my intent, not to gain any time. At bigger tracks I know you can shave a second or more off and it's more important.

Never get discouraged. Just keep practicing running laps and work on your racecraft and strategy and it'll all come together.

I have roughly $50 in my PSN wallet from PSN cards, so I'm ready to buy the DLC when it's released :D Hopefully they price the DLC reasonably, but I'm probably going to be buying it regardless of price. I'll be getting the car and track packs for sure, but the racing gear I'll wait and see if it's worth it.
