Just a note, we will be running the full version of Grand Valley Reverse, not the East configuration.

And yes, shifting at 8k is the way to go. If it feels a little sluggish in the slower corners you can try adjusting your lower gears to better fit those turns. I spend more time adjusting my transmission for a track than I do any other settings. 👍

Thanks guys, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something!

Noted about Grand Valley, I just always use GVER as my base tuning track :-)

It's a great track for testing, especially with the Cappuccino. I kinda consider it the Home Track for the Capp Cup and some variation of it will probably always appear on the schedule. :)

Hmm, one last thing... I guess I can admit it now, but I actually had a Cappucino RM series in the works back right before the Lexus IS-F cup started up early this year. I decided against it since I took over for R1600Turbo since he couldn't run the series at the time, so the Capp idea was out.

I joined Mchid's old Capp series that used R3s (bleh) and I just could never get to grips with driving it, no one ever told me about shifting @ 8,000 RPMS (too dumb to check the powerband myself xD) so I was always at the mid-field or worse. Mchid did an ok job and every thing but something just didn't sit right so I never gave that series a good amount of time.

That's why when the idea of a Capp series came back up I was all over it. I didn't want to run it myself at the time because of obligations with WSGTC and FMSC at the time so I wanted to just make sure it would have a great basis for racing by trying to influence the direction of the new start up in the way that I had initially foresaw it.

I was going to run the series on Sport Mediums with reduced power, if you can believe it. But anyway, that's long gone. I somehow convinced every one that Sport Softs would be the way to go and it worked out! People actually listened and every one had tons of fun in season 1 so it made me happy. I would've participated myself but, again, I was short on time back then. You should all realize that Stig pretty much picked up this whole thing on a whim as he came into the thread only as a curious party and potential racee. We saw that managerial degree in him though :D and were able to convince him to run this awesome series for every one and we couldn't have picked a better Capperino (lol, new nick. You're all Capperinos... unless of course, you don't choose to be awesome)

Now that the great ride of season 2 was done I can't help but look back at one of my more favorite aspects of my initial vision for a Cappucino series... nothing too major, nothing too Earth shattering... but a little extra something.

Could you do me the great honor, Stig, of mantling this great series with a simple little tagline? I always had this in mind for the instance that a Capp. cup goes into multiple seasons:

Cappuccino Cup Season 3: Extra shot!

I'm down. The more races the better. It's good for guys like me who don't know what they are doing. The extra season or seasons would be cool, because the first season I would be learning. The second season I would be more comfortable with everything.

Thanks Wardez, I really appreciate the kind words. The Capp Cup is my first real attempt at running my own league and your input/guidance during the formation stage was a big part of getting it off the ground. I can't be more pleased with how things have gone and I've had such a fun time with these cars and this group, I really enjoy every second I put into it.

I'm sure a lot of people aren't aware of how this series started, it was a league without a director and kinda grew from GTP itself. Somebody posted that they liked these cars and wanted to do some races with them, the public chimed in that there needed to be a league but the OP wasn't interested in running a league. The ideas formed and the series took shape but still had no defined leader. I had chimed in many times to help keep things organized and on track, soon I was nominated by the masses to take the reigns and kick off the New and Improved Capp Cup (there had been 1 previous season run by a different host using a different format). Because of the way I was "appointed" I've always felt it was my duty to form the Capp Cup based on the interests of the members and not necessarily by my own desires. (I would have been on Race Hard tires from the beginning but the consensus of the group was for Sports Softs so that's the way we went) So this really is a league by GTP and for GTP. 👍

@Wardez.....as for your simple tagline request.......see if this is close to what you had in mind. :)

We're actually about to start our 3rd season, and hopefully we'll be around for many more! :)

Well, I know what I am doing in work tomorrow: finding the A0 plotter, hanging an out of order sign on the door and printing out your poster. Awesome work Brandon!

Thanks. :) If you really want to print it out here's a better resolution version. It's only 4.5x6 so not really poster sized but everything other than the photos is vector so it can be enlarged nicely. :)

I plan on having a lot more graphics for the Capp Cup thread this season, I have fun with that stuff. On a slightly connected note, this is the kind of stuff I want to show people who complain about there not being enough to GT5 to keep them entertained. Because of the league I got to spend a couple hours in photo mode creating the pictures for the schedule, get to play around on the computer creating graphics for the thread, did testing at different tracks to determine race quality and lap counts, did online races with members at the selected tracks to ensure race quality, have been flipping through my paint chips to decide if I want a new color scheme for my Capp this season..............that's hours and hours of GT5 that didn't involve A-spec, B-spec, or "grinding"! If you say there isn't enough in GT5 to keep you entertained, you're simply not doing it right. :)

Excellent job on the graphics Brandon. I think the Capp Cup has the best graphics of any series...lol. Judging by the times I'm seeing posted I think it's going to be a very competitive season with closer racing than ever before. Perhaps RH tires are the true equalizer!!

Well, it is kinda my day job, and what my degree is in. :) In all fairness though, there are a number of series with better graphics that I've gotten inspiration from, WSGTC and FMSC to name a couple. I'm going to try to step it up this season though. I think they really add a nice element that make people feel like they're part of an organized series that's run by somebody who cares enough to put some effort into it. 👍

I meant the this 3rd season I would be warming up, and the Extra Shot I would be more comfortable. I know you guys have done this before.

In case you guys haven't seen it already, GTP will be down for a few hours this evening while Jordan switches some of the underlying servers. I'm not sure if I'm going to be around this evening for any racing but I will be sure to update everyone before 5pm EDT (when the site will go down) so you know whether to look for my lounge or not. 👍

If you Capperino's are looking for something to do this weekend, I have an assignment for you. I'd like to have a photo of everyone's driver and car so I can maybe have some sort of Podium at the end of every week and actually have a photo of your driver in his suit/helmet to post in the Results as well as your painted up Cappy. If I have time, I'd like to do a Driver's Profile similar to what they do in the WSGTC but that will be rather time-consuming so I'm not focused on it at the moment.

I'll try to think of a good place for everyone to take a photo of their Cappy and will provide a sample shot of the angle/position I'd like so we can keep them all uniform. This is kind of a newly formed idea but I figured I'd let everyone know so they could work on it over the weekend. You can either PM me a link to your photo (from Photobucket or Imageshack) or email the files directly to me at cappuccinocupracing@gmail.com. The driver photo is my primary concern now, not worried about the photos of your car just yet. To get the photo of your driver, go to where you can select your driver outfit/helmet and click on the option to take the 9 different photos. Once you select one as your profile photo it will automatically save it into your Photo Album in GTLife. From there you can export it to your XMB and then save it onto a thumbdrive so it can be uploaded/emailed. If you have any problems getting it to work just shoot me a PM and I'll walk through it.

:)

I've been told there may be an easier way to do this. If you set the photos as a "favorite" in GTLife then apparently I can access it through the Gran Turismo website and save it from there. Much less work for everyone this way, so if you take some photos this weekend let me know and I'll try to pull them off of your gran-turismo.com profile. 👍

You can do that, but it'll be a lower resolution shot.

How low? They'll only be viewed on-screen so they don't have to be super hi-res. I've never grabbed photos off that website so I'm not familiar, but I know most websites automatically reduce resolution. It's just an idea, may prove to be too complicated/time-consuming.

The GT5 link said I was "forbidden", smacked me and then shut down my browser, all while cursing at me. I cried.....a little. :(

I just took some pics and selected favorites, I did have to select "share with friends" on both pics to get the ps3 to say they have been uploaded though. So check out my profile and see if you can access them.

I saved it and re-uploaded it. Try now.

Not a lot of difference in quality, just slightly smaller size. I think it will work ok for viewing on-screen and is much easier for drivers this way.

Zilla, I'll check it out when I get home and let you know. Thanks for being the guinea pig.

Looking to get some practice in tomorrow at Suzuka east, if anyone is interested send a FR to GTP_Z3RO_ . Should be on about 3 PM PST.

I should also have a lounge open tomorrow around 2pm EDT (4 hours earlier I believe) for anybody on the right-hand side of the country or across the pond. I would really like to do a full race program with the double-race, reverse grid format once or twice before we kick the season off so I can see if there's anything I haven't prepared for. If we can get at least 6 or 7 people to show up by 2:30 or 3pm EDT tomorrow we'll do a 10 minute qualifying session and then 2 10 lap races at a select track. I might even be willing to give out a prize car or 2. ;)

I saw this dude walking down the road tonight, he asked me to pull his finger. Called himself Torzilla.

It is 3 hours I think lol. Well if you will have one open i will try my hardest to make it to yours, if I can't make then I will still open mine at 3 PM regardless.
