....Ejiofor worked with Joss Whedon on Serenity, so I was kinda optimistic. But with Whedon taking a....ahem, break from it all, wonder how far the talks have gone.

Oh, he was brilliant in Serenity, but I get the impression that he is very much an actor who chooses projects that are of interest to him.

I only hope that Marvel doesn't commit the error of making Iron Man looking like the super-antagonist. Anyone who read the comics know that's not true.

I'm sure the "This isn't freedom, it's fear" debate will be had again.

...Indeed, he is a fantastic actor. Enjoyed his turn in Redbelt.

If he's cast...hopefully they don't saddle him with some inane African accent or something...:indiff:

There was a debate? Sorry, young guy here.
Yes, in Winter Soldier between Nick Fury and Captain America, when Fury was discussing the new program to monitor all potential threats with the ability to take any one of them out in seconds. Cap was not pleased with the idea.

There are leaks of the new trailer that showed earlier at D23 (which I won't post), but let's just say it looks like it might just right the course of the Marvel ship after the disappointing Ultron. No Spidey shown, but that's not surprising.

Spidey in this movie seems to be all over the place (from what I've read). First, not confirmed, and later on, a small role that won't really affect the movie.

So does it confirmed that Spidey will be in the Avengers battle ? I read it in an article few weeks ago that Spidey will be in a geeky, unique fight scene lol

I've read that he supposedly shows briefly in the trailer, flying in as Iron Spiderman that features in the comics. Probably worth taking with a pinch of salt though.

Cautious optimism, leaning towards "take my money".

Surprised, my critic friends are overjoyed at the trailer.

Cap 2 was one of the strongest films of Phase 2. With the same guys behind this, I'm supremely excited.

While I was looking forward to seeing this attached to Episode VII, it's hardly a bad thing to see it now. :D

Makes sense that they'd hold on to Parker for a later trailer...

"He's my friend."

"So was I."

🤬 got real.

EDIT: Gif name triggered the censor.

Ooooohhhhh 🤬 yeah!!

That trailer looks very, very good. Black Panther kicking ass, Falcon kicking ass, Cap and Bucky beat down on Tony - and that last line: "So was I".

By the way, was that Spidey that I spied there during the "car chase"?

  • Bucky is indeed fighting Black Panther
  • Black Widow seems to be fighting Crossbones at one point
  • Cap is chasing Panther, who is then chasing Bucky
  • Rhodey might not be dead, but it looks like his suit's power source was heavily damaged or torn out
No Vision, no Ant-Man, no Spider-Man, all three of whom are confirmed in the movie. Same goes for Baron Zemo. Certainly seems like the trailer is suggesting someone is setting Bucky up with new attacks, since he's now out of the HYDRA game, and that causes the Civil War ball rolling.

Cap 2 was one of the strongest films of Phase 2.
I think that's because it works pretty hard to be more than just a superhero film. The influence of the likes of Three Days of the Condor and The Parrallax View is pretty obvious, and it appropriates those elements to fit a modern concern.

I wonder if the armor that Tony uses is indeed the Bleeding Edge armor. It does looks like it's stronger than the previous ones, especially when Bucky and Cap were beating the hell out of Tony.

Will I need to watch all of the Phase 2 films before watching this? I still haven't seen Thor: The Dark world, Ant-Man or Age of Ultron.

It seems like as long as you've seen Winter Soldier you should be fine. Of course it's not out until May, so there's plenty of time to watch 3 movies.;)
