People are complaining about Spiderman everywhere jeez. I don't really care about his costume, it looks nice like the old comics. But come on people ! This is Spiderman here ! Finally he's in the right place

Spider-Man is one of the few that was never in the wrong place, film-wise.

Fantastic Four, sorry, Fant4stic on the other hand... that needs to default to Marvel. Immediately.

Some comic book fans are the worst. Lot's of nitpicking for a character we've all been waiting for. I've seen people complaining his voice sucks, like what the hell ? It sounds similar to the previous Spideys to me.

No, Tom Holland

...I see the film makers went with comic-book-ish eye thing, a la Deadpool. However, I'm more interested in the portrayal of the young ruler of Wakanda. To a non-Marvel people there's a good chance Black Panther being a unknown quantity.

I sincerely hope he's not characterized as a black Tony Stark with a pompous blue-blood personality...

if you look closely, there are shutters around his eye when the eye moves. It seems to be mechanical, maybe Stark made.

I was watching a trailer analysis by Mr. Sunday Movies, and he concluded the same thing. Most of what that suit is made of is Stark Tech, from the eyes to the web shooters. That said, I don't think that what we saw in that trailer is going to be the first we see of Spider-man in the finished film, as it is confirmed in the comics that he did assemble his first suit (the one that he used in the entertainment/wrestling gig depending on which origin story you believe.) While Marvel may not have the rights to adamantium (they remain with FOX), it shouldn't be outside the realm of possibility that this Spider-man suit does have some armor as the rights to the Iron Spider suit is very much up in the air.

Another thing that I would like to point out is that the web shooters uses cartridge based fluid, not unlike the 1990's cartoon, the design of the costume overall is akin to Amazing Fantasy #1 (1963), and I do think that Spider-man in this film will NOT reveal his secret identity.

Sort of feels like they're getting ahead of themselves with Spiderman... though we probably wouldn't feel that way if it was Garfield playing him.

This movie could either make or break the Sony reboot, depending on how the fans like the new kid.

Consider it a hundred million dollar screen test. Like Wolverine: Origins was for Deadpool. :D

I'm thinking so far ahead. The black suit makes an appearance. Either by way of Hulk bringing something back from his team up with Thor or during Infinity Wars. Brings us Venom and then, Carnage. I'm also trying to work The Punisher into meeting Spidey somehow.

The franchise has misfired so many times that Civil War is their hail Mary pass - the last opportunity to get it right. If they can't pull it off here, there may not be much of a future for Spiderman.

Isn't there an MCU Spiderman reboot (sans origin story) for 2017?

Tom Holland has a lot of work to do, but seeing him practice flips and acrobatic moves shows his dedication atleast. Still think Garfield should have resumed his role.

As long as Spidey isn't tap dancing, the character will be fine. Hopefully we see his true speed when fighting. Plus, I didn't mind Garfield but, if he is going to make appearances in his own series of films and the Phase 3 movies, I guess they had to keep Parker looking more youthful.

Eh he'd be more of a black capt. America just as smart as Tony Stark and the savior of Wakanda. That's the only way I could see it working.

...I hope so, I really do.

He wasn't really that arrogant in the comics if I remember correctly it's been a while since I read Black Panther. Point is there is still a glimmer of the real comic counterparts being used in the MCU live action attitudes, and demeanor overall so I don't see why he'd be another Tony Stark.

...I'm not familiar with BP's story as well - a DC guy here - so can't say how he might be portrayed.

I don't think my hypothesis will apply in Civil War, since it's not a Panther movie, but for his solo outing the writers might be tempted to go with a character arc of arrogant and aloof prince morphing into a true hero or some such.

Just a hypothesis, however.

I'm a DC guy too, I just tend to read all over and then pick what is better written.

To me the Black Panther storyline is interesting, the heir to a throne that he must earn all while be clouded with trying to avenge the death of his father. He is said to be one of the most brilliant minds in the MCU, so making him aloof would be a disservice to the character and basically not something I could see Marvel/Disney green lighting. The guy is so smart that he's a few steps shy of Stark, Banner, Pym, Richards in regards but nevertheless not without his own achievements. I see them linking him and Tony based on the technological fears that should be in check, but also because his nation usually has had their whereabouts hidden from the world as a protection and because of the Vibranium.

I watched Age of Ultron this past evening and so it easy to see how it ties in with Civil War and them revisiting certain parts to tie it in further.

...Hah, I haven't read a comic in ages - I should go back and start reading ones I missed. I don't remember much from AoU if I'm honest - besides the Hulkbuster fight in Johannesburg CBD(?) everything else is a bit blurry.
Tends to happen if I see too many movies and TV shows.

As for the Panther treatment, the creative team probably have a working script down already, the one that got the necessary nod from above. It's Ryan Coogler directing it, right? The guy from Creed?

I used the word "aloof" because of he's a royalty - y'know, the way the blue-bloods are often caricatured as uptight holier-than-thou types.

Even with him being royalty he can't be distant because of his background. He is like the watchful eye of Wakanda a leader that people relate to but also look to for protection and something the character has always respected. His royalty doesn't seem to get in the way, so as I said it'd be hard to see him in that light. I mean look at the others. Stark has always been the way Downey Jr. plays him, Rogers is the same and is played correctly to it as well and even Hemsworth and Thor seem spot on.

We'll need to see how The Punisher is dealt with in Daredevil. If he shows up with Spider-Man it'll be the first Netflix/cinema direct crossover, as no one has stated if the shows and movies will ever interact.

I was one of the folks that really liked Garfield as Parker too, but there's no arguing it's a wise business move for Marvel/Sony to look at an actual teenager for him going forward. Especially with a lot of their actor contracts wrapping up with Avengers 3.

The acid test will be how much of Parker we see in this film, not Spider-Man. Anybody can be the guy in the suit – that's why they had doubles fill in for him before Holland was cast.

Early comments say he and Black Panther are both great additions, so I'm optimistic. The Russos seem to know what they're doing.

I hope they don't show a lot, my problem is they'll probably do the whole origins story again, sure it will be a different twist but with the amazing spiderman being not long ago I feel it would be a bit boring, similar to DCU's Batman skipping the intros.

It's pretty much Hamlet, but with less tragedy. Which is by no means a bad thing; Hamlet is a fine starting point.

They've already commented saying they won't be doing another origin story because it's been umpteen times over as is, so no worries there. When he shows up in Civil War he'll already be established, with probably the slightest offhand mention of who he is and how he came to be.

Good on them then, best of luck to Holland then, big responsibility (no pun intended) on his shoulder.
