I knew somebody would take it that way! :ouch: I grew up playing that game, put hundreds of dollars in quarters into Cruis'n USA and Cruis'n World back in the day. And that has directly evolved into what we're doing here, so I thought it was kinda neat to see and think about what kind of racing game that kid will be playing in 10 years (probably GT6). :sly:

Hard Drivin' was where I got my start... The local bowling alley had it, and I'd spend hours playing it... The force feedback was surprisingly realistic and it had a working clutch and 4 speed shifter. If I could find a used one in good condition, I'd totally buy it for my house.

Engine sounds and crash damage are eerily similar to GT5...maybe Kaz grew up with this game too...

I spy a Reatta.

The rear end of one, yes. Good eye. You can also see my WRX with it's shiny new tires. :dopey:

They had Hard Drivin' at the local mall arcade when I was very young, probably the 5-8 years old range. I consider it the first time I ever drove a manual transmission. :) I loved it, dad would go there to play pinball and let me play the video games, I don't think I ever played any of the others. IIRC Hard Drivin' had a loop-de-loop and there was a barn with a cow next to it and when you'd hit the cow it would go "moooo". (EDIT: I see both of those items are featured in the video posted above). That game made it onto a console at some point but I don't remember which one.

The Cruis'n games were later on, high school days. I used to hang out at the local pool hall and that's where I lost a lot of quarters. I generally had the high scores on the game and if I ever saw them get displaced I would pump quarters in until I was back on top. 👍

We don't get broken windshields or fire in GT5, obviously Hard Drivin' was way ahead of its time. :sly:

Any news on the car for next month? Narrowed it down any? Any testing needed to be done?

I haven't driven it yet so I'm not sure. I'd guess it would need some kind of sport tires. Probably be fun on CS but the racing might not be so clean. :nervous:

I think it's just over 200 hp same as the BRZ etc, racecar chassis and 15/40 stock downforce. Probably sticks like glue on even on CS tires.

I'm probably gonna be online this evening testing out some new cars, feel free to join if you're around.

The simple cure is to preset the room to the track you want to race on and DONT touch the track change menu.

I don't think that'll work, because the track reloads anyway when you set Grip to Real.

If it didnt work the bug would be there all the time.Changing the grip setting and tire wear doesnt cause or fix the bug.

Like I already said, I got the cold tyre bug the other night while practicing, & changing to another track then back again definately got rid of it.

I don't think that'll work, because the track reloads anyway when you set Grip to Real.

It does not do a full reload of the track when you change grip or slipstream or damage, it does not reset lap times. I call it a "soft reset" and it only changes one parameter but doesn't reload all the track data. To test this, go out on the track and set a lap time, then go change the track grip or the damage or the slipstream (you will notice it only takes a couple seconds to "soft reload" the track where a full reload takes 30-60 seconds). Now go back on track and you'll see your lap time is still displayed in the upper right corner, this illustrates that the track has not been fully reloaded.

However, the displayed lap time isn't really valid anymore and will not effect the grid line up, meaning the person who set the displayed fast time will not necessarily be started on pole. Once a driver has exited to the lounge their time is reset, it will still be displayed on the timing monitor until they re-enter the pits/track at which point their time will be reset to --:--:--. If that driver has set the fastest time in the room that time will still be displayed in the upper right corner of everyone's screen but it is no longer applied to the driver.

If you change to a different track and change back it does a full reload and will erase all lap times and start everything from scratch. This would likely be the only change that could cause "the bug" to appear. I would presume this bug works much like the "no tire noise" bug did, resetting the track could cause some drivers to lose all tire noise and they only way to get it back was for them to leave the room and re-enter, which would be synonymous with shutting the room down and re-opening it.

Details please. How was the room configured,lobby/lounge,quality,mics etc.PM me if you want so we dont infest the thread with bugs.

Firstly, I haven't encountered the bug that Brandon is talking about, the one that makes braking distances longer & give you extra slippy tyres. I have no insight into that, you guys know more about that than me.

The only bug I've ever seen like this is the one where the tyres stay blue, & don't warm up properly. It always goes away after changing the track, & then changing back. I used it to fix the bug back in 2011 whie organising an event in my private lobby.

The settings I was using a few nights ago when I got it again were; Private Lounge - Race Quality Standard - Mics off - & all the rest of the set up the same as Car Of The Month Club usually is.

👍

Just a notice, that I am (again) not able to join you for the race tomorrow... :nervous:

Unfortunately I am obligated by a social gathering in my local sportclub (read: food, beers 'n wine and happy people) :D

Good racing to you all...!

This is the only bug I was aware of, and because of it my practice has always been to have the room load to a track we won't be using and then switch to the desired track after the room is loaded. But apparently there is another bug that is a direct opposite, so perhaps the original bug has been exterminated and replaced with this new one. :ouch:

At any rate, in the last year of racing we have only encountered this situation once so I'm not terribly concerned about it but I'd like to make sure it doesn't happen again as it did make for a miserable evening of racing for some of us.

We'll miss you, but sounds like you'll be having plenty of fun!

Sounds like we need an exterminator!!!

I am around tomorrow but on call. If I'm not working I'll be there. 👍 Might be available tonight for testing as well, we'll see how it goes. :nervous:

The Roadster TC is an enjoyable car. The open top and great cockpit view is awesome.

The Art Morrison 60' Corvette is Pure awesome!!!

It needs Sports Softs and a gentle right foot. High skill level car but man does it drive good and sound good. Oh the cockpit view is stunning too.

Hmmmmm.......seems the MX-5 TC is bi-polar as I have other reports saying it is quite terrible to drive. I'll find out for myself tonight.

The Morrison Vette does look and sound awesome and has one of the best interior views in the game but I don't think it would work very well in a field of varying skill levels like we have. It really needs an entire field of highly skilled drivers to produce good racing, and as long as I'm taking part in our races it won't be an entirely skilled field. :dunce:

The Rainbow Roadster TC is a pushy car unless you take measures to mitigate that. It can trailbrake like a champion, though, and is a great learning platform.

But if we're running with tuning prohibited are we able to take the mitigating measures? Brake balance only goes so far.

I'll find out tonight, I plan on being online around 7 or 8pm EST. But first, I have some FRESH F1 footage on my DVR that needs to be consumed. :embarrassed:

👍
This is the cause of the blue bug and not the cure.I just spent and hour testing this idea and could not get rid of the bug once it appears.Lounge/standard,lounge/very high, pub room/standard,pub room/very high makes and the results were the same each time.I opened the room as Laguna, exit the pits in the BRZ and watch the rear tires turn sky blue then darken as the car travels to the end of pitlane. The car brakes and the fronts lighten in color and both front and rear tires have retained heat.

Reset the room by selecting Laguna, click ok,and exit the pits. The rear tires change color slightly but before the car has crested the hill the tires are dark blue, just like they would appear if the car was parked in the pits. The fronts lighten for a second under braking at the end of pitlane then loose all of their temp.

Changing from Laguna to DFR and back to Laguna and the results were the same.Tire wear off/on and grip real/low made no difference either.

The season finale of GATE2 is at Spa next week so I plan to do some tire temp testing after that race to see what the difference is.

Yes, it is only brake bias and driving adjustment that is necessary. That is what makes it a great learning experience.

I won't be round til perhaps 9 or 10PM EDT at the earliest, but if anyone is still on later I'll be on.

I'm in the lounge doing some testing, feel free to join.

EDIT: Gone
