Um, Foresythe will be running 2 cars. Patrick Carpantier was dropped from the team, so you haven't gained any drivers at all.

At practice for Long Beach this week, 6 cars showed up for 3 teams...

Yep, He's Been replaced by a pay drive...

as if Ron Dennis would be slacking DC for Verstappen or Alex Yoong. What a good way to get some interest back in to the series...

www.crash.net LOOK AND SEE FOR YOURSELF - Forsythe running 3 CARS. Indeck sponsered paul tracy, corona, lavin and carpentier has a ride in the team just looking for a sponsor. and long beach wasnt practice, it was a preview.

mcdonalds are now full time sponsors of bourdais car and red bull is now sponsoring a.j allmenger/

opening 2 paragraphs from crash.net story

Champ Car veteran Patrick Carpentier will not be dropped by champion team Forsythe Racing this year, quashing rumours suggesting that the Canadian had been forced out of the line-up by well-heeled also-ran Rodolfo Lavin. Press reports late last week suggested that the four-time winner would be looking for another ride after Gerald Forsythe's decision to hire former Walker Racing pilot Lavin, but the team confirmed at Champ Car's Long Beach season premiere that Carpentier would be returning to partner both the Mexican and fellow countryman Paul Tracy in 2004.

see? champcars are building strength big time

plus, jimmy vasser has invested in PK racing, it is now PKV racing. Jimmy will drive in one car while Roberto Gonzalez will drive the other

TSN - Carpentier

Local media that are usually speak directly with him all have the same story, ... if it's true even Carpentier is not knowing it. Rumors are sending him to PK Racing, but nothing official yet.

Still I'm looking forward for see the push-to-pass button (50hp boost, 60 sec total in a race) in action... f1 would definiely need this one.

Adding 1 driver is building strength big time? And 1 driver to one of the only teams in the league to even have money?

And I guess Speed Channel talked the guy for nothing....I mean, Paul Tracy friggin fired him!

Yay, I actually asked about how many drivers a team could feild, i was very suprised to hear no limit, and i am now suprised to hear my favourite team is doing it! I'm glad they aren't dropping Carpentier!

same ere....carpentier is a good driver, he deserves a race spot.

The push to pass system is also a great return, increaseing the overtaking is only a good thing. there is nothing more thrilling than seeing overtaking on a street circuit, with concrete surrounding you. And The359, not just 1 car has been added, 4 new ones have forsythe, rusport, pkv and rocketsport....with more to come soon as other teams like mi-jack, herdez, rahal etc.etc. having to release their car list shortly. New tv deal annouced, and drivers such as hunter-reay and salo havent stated their rides yet and they have stated that they have one lined up. cant wait

The TV deal is for SpikeTV to show races on tape delay (NONE of the races will be live) and they will be cut down to an hour and a half.

Teams that were announced as entering the Long Beach Grand Prix:

Newman-Haas - 2 cars (Junqueira and Bourdais)
Forsythe - 2 cars (Tracy and Lavin)
Rahal - 1 car (Jourdain)
Herdez - 1 car (Dominguez)
Rocketsports - 2 cars (Tagliani and Phillipe)
PKVR - 2 cars (Vasser and Gonzalez)
RuSport - 1 car (Allmendinger)

11 cars.

Fernandez Racing has dropped out of CART and will be moving to IRL, rumor is Rahal will be following soon after.

Ummm, it is not CART anymore, it is OWRS....And nooo, not Fernadez Racing! I though they were sposed to get a 2nd car this season?

CART is the racing series. The series is owned by OWRS.

Just like Nextel Cup is the racing series, and they are owned by NASCAR.

champcar IS the racing series. champcar was owned by championship auto racing teams a.k.a CART. now CART has passed on and open wheel racing series (OWRS) has taken control of champcar racing.

Justin Wilson has now been comfirmed as one of the two Mi-Jack Conquest drivers for 2004. a big name to add to the series......ralph firman is also linked to a champcar drive

alex sperifico is driving the second conquest driver.......... wired thing is...wilson will be in a lola while sperifico will be in a reynard

Well, I for one am happy that CART is still alive.

However, I am unhappy about the tv deal with SpikeTV. Granted the channel has some good programming(especially MXC), but I feel that the series really belongs on SPEED. I really dislike tape delaying a race (With the exception of Formula One since most of is races are live at 1 to 3 in the morning) because it just isn't the same as seeing it live.

I'm also disappointed that Adrian Fernandez jumped ship. I understand his reasoning behind it though. He figured that IRL would be better for his team financially.

I'll definately watch the series though but not with the same enthusiasm as before.

im used to seeing the races tape delayed....they are on very late monday nights....so that means i tape them and watch them on tues or wednesday......

im just interested to see how the new points system will work...it sure is different

Yes, I think it will make a Championship battle more interesting then. Wouldn't you hate it if you lost the series by one point because when you pitted the guy in 2nd lead a lap....:D

YES...THERE IS AN AUSSIE ON THE GRID (somebody has been reading my wishbook)

it may only be for the gold coast race, but Josh Hunt will compete in the champcar race. He will also compete in the toyota atlantic this season....THIS IS AWESOME

last time an australian competed was the near exact situation...jason bright at the 2000 indy...competed in the indy lights before competiting in the australian race...and doin an excellent job...up to 5th before a puncture from papis debris.

I Hope Hunt can do a great job and get a permenent spot next year........TASTY BOOYA...A queenslander competiting in the queensland race....im proud to be a queenslander

I'm just proud to be an Aussie.:'(

Anyway...it will be great to see an aussie at the gold coast indy (in a champcar). He got in to test the car and he broke the track record, now that is a good driver!

I don't think that Champcar is be around that much longer. Specially since Team Rahal and Adrian Fernandez's team has signed out and is going to the IRL
