"Downforce Thrust Vectoring".

I don't know what that is but it sounds very good.

I guess it could be like the thrust vectoring nozzle mainly used in fighter jets. But this time, it was applied on this car added with the insane downforce on that car.

Still though, I'm just speculating.

This is more of a race suit than a car. Regardless, like many before me, the crazier GT Vision the better. They might have got the inspiration from the Rollerman.

Finally something that can challenge Red Bull X2014?

From the initial teaser for this car I was expecting a lot and my God has it lived up to the Chaparral legend! It has the most advanced tech and goes like a cheetah with ginger up it's arse. It looks so mean in black, it could be Batman's track car, but I will have to have it in Chaparral white.

It is the coolest of the VGTs to date, and we have had some pretty cool cars, and it will take something beyond exceptional to better this Chevrolet Chaparral 2X VGT. Only a Daihatsu Midget 2075 powered by our will to win can beat this.

I would be seriously looking forward to this car if it was just badged as a Chevrolet for example, but having the Chaparral name adds something else to that anticipation which takes it to another level of excitement altogether. Having the brand name resurrected for a GT game is appropriate as I would not know too much about the brand were it not for the series. The exposure and reputation it got through GT I think has helped many people remember and respect the great brand which could have disappeared into relative obscurity.

Stunning car.

PS Why after all these years am I still spelling Chaparral incorrectly?!

We Can only hope GT7 Looks like this!

Anyone knocking this VGT effort, just forgot their childhood. Jetsons Cars, Speed Racer, futuristic movies(remember Minority Report?). This is the stuff we need for people to see what's possible.

I want current cars to drive. I want to see VGT cars resemble a car I'd drive tomorrow or a couple years from now.

Honda are giving us hydrogen cars. Hybrids are here. Electric cars have been here since the start of the automobile. People thinking this configuration is bad or they don't care. A motorcycle has zilch protection. It doesn't matter. It's stirring conversations. People are thinking how they used to draw cars like this. People are thinking they could make a car like this. Thing is, GM did it and no one else did.

In the video, we have a nice little quote. "Work with a bunch of guys who wanted to find out".

If you dislike this car because you think it's not grounded in reality enough, or you think lasers sound ridiculous, then you don't get the concept or briefing in the slightest. Do you think 50 years ago, people thought a box with wheels and two giant fans sucking it to the ground was normal? I would expect nothing less than an insane design from Chaparral.

Disliking it because it doesn't conform to what we have 2014 shows that you aren't open to the future. You aren't someone ready to ask questions. You aren't ready to move forward. So what if it's weird? Sci-Fi from 30 years ago is the norm in technology today.

It's actually been fantastic to see such a positive reaction to the design. We get to see Chaparral in the 21st century. That's something I've always wanted.

Amen, my friend.

It obvious that such an outrageous car will draw the ire of many; you either love it or hate it. If you do dislike it, it's a valid opinion, but not if you're like some people I've seen, that say they are leaving Gran Turismo because of this car.

Why!? You're not forced to drive it (if you don't do the seasonal event) nor own it, and there are better reasons to stop playing the game than a car you dislike. Heck, there are a lot of cars I do not like in Gran Turismo, and I haven't stopped playing it because of that. There are far bigger issues with the game than cars that aren't your taste.

In short, GM chose to be insane and outrageous. It was their choice, as the other companies chose how to do their cars. It might sound crazy now, but the future holds many surprises... And what else did you expect from a car with the name Chaparral?

And @Tornado, I understand your issue with this car, you believe that it doesn't match the reputation that Chaparral created throughout the years. May I ask one question, out of pure curiousity? :) What design would you choose for it?

I am glad to see that it is properly detailed as well. I mean, that Aston VGT got me hyped, and then ended up having about 1/5th of the polygons of every other car in the game :(

I applaude Chevrolet for doing this 2X Concept.

To me this is what I imagined most of the car manufacturers would come up with as they only had to design something digitally. They didn't have to build a physical model either but Chevy have done so anyway.

Mitsubishi, Subaru, VW and Toyota have designed their VGT Concepts on exisiting concept cars, this seems to me like they either weren't bothered to design something totally unique or their other designs were so bad they were abandoned.

Chevrolet, Aston Martin, Nissan, BMW and Mercedes' cars are to me what VGT is all about. Designing something from scratch and having no limits to what you want to design.

Why are there complaints about the concept of laser propulsion now as if it was pulled out of GM's a** when it's actually been thought about for decades?

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser_propulsion

Yes, because a ground based factory size group of laser beam arrays super-heating a heat exchanger to provide additional thrust to a rocket is entirely the same as a star trek style 'we have used a fancy word therefore it must work' pile of BS seemingly powered by the drivers farts.

It isn't a concept car, it isn't a realistic variant on possible technology and it simply isn't feasible. It's a joke.

I'd like to see you try and fit a V8 up the drivers a** lol

And they never even mentioned a V8, they only mentioned the laser engine, with mathematics they say it converts to around 900bhp, and this car is extremely light too my guess is to be lighter than the Caterham Fireblade, they even said this car has ZERO emissions... hmmm very V8 obviously...

Also adding a V8 to everything won't solve problems, with this car, it would only add problems.

These VGT cars have slowly shown me how good PD has gotten at modelling cars over the years, they're making them look absolutely magnificent.

That's a great example of VGT!
It looks ugly to me and I still prefer classic designs, but hey, this is pure awesomeness!
And yeah, thrust vectoring + laser engine...this thing is a fighter jet on wheels.
