Rules

1) This racing league is open to all who can commit to a full season.

2) You may purchase or win as a prize any car on the following list for an entry. You may make a team with only two or three members. A team may also hire a team engineer and inform Crooooooow about it. A team must also pick a team leader to ask about being on pace with the leaders of the field. A member of a team may choose a race number separate from their teammates'.

4) There will be only totaling of points for each race with the highest being the winner at the end of the season, figured solely as individuals or teams depending on the entries.

5) The season lasts 30 days, each driver and team has that amount of time to submit their times for each event. A driver or team can do the tracks as fast or as slow as they want and manage their time, but 30 days is all you get. Results will be posted for a race as soon as all entries are in for it. When the 30 days pass, no further entries will be accepted and results will be posted at a minimum of one track or event a day until it is all complete.

6) All driving aids are at a driver or teams discretion.

7) To drive a course a driver will use the events/tracks listed in the Event Schedule. At least one lap must be within A-Spec mode during a race, B-Spec mode is at a driver or teams discretion for the rest of it.

8) Times used will be a combined lap time that shows when you return to the main screen for that track, after a race, with a combined time for all the racers that finished.

9) That combined time is what a driver will send in a private message to Crooooooow and it will be compared to the other drivers and teams for each track. *For Teams: To make it fair to the single racers, you will have to have either member do one part of the racing events, and you complete the other racing events. Or, both of the team members complete all of the races, and choose who has the better time than the other team member.

10) All time submissions will be by Private Message to Crooooooow

11) Points will be awarded at the following rates (Points system will change depending on the number of competitors):
Code:
*example*
Position Points
1st 10
2nd 7
3rd 5
4th 4
5th 3
6th 2
7th 1
8th 0
9th 0
12) A winner's circle will be held for the top three positions at the end of the season.

13) If a driver or team that isn't able to post their times for a given track, receives a DNF for each track that is missed.

14) A solo driver or the head of a team may ask by PM if they are on pace or not with the leaders. I will reply with one of three responses, Yes, No, or Not Enough Data. This way you are not completely competing against an unknown target.
Code:
Pace
Yes - (+/- 1.5 seconds)
No - (Behind more then 1.5 seconds)
Not Enough Data - (No entries yet)
15) A race event should be driven in the spirit of a race keeping two wheels on the track at all times and minimizing collisions with the AI cars. Especially to preserve your car for the season.

Hmmm. Your car rankings appear just to be alphabetical order.
It's widely known that the Shelby Cobra and Corvettes will crush the usual muscle-car fare, what are you basing your rankings on?

Thank you for noticing that error. Since I included this little note...
(Please note that all these cars do not have the same, nor close amount of horsepower. Since the car with the maximum horsepower on the list is the Shelby Cobra with 485hp. So, you may tune your car up to 500hp with any upgrade of your choice. The specified horsepower should be in the range from 420 to 500hp. Mufflers, engine, and turbo are the only legal upgrades, as well as tires.

... I do not need to include the Car Rankings part in the Competition details, afterwards.

i think that you need to edit the rules;
In 2nd one you say we can tune our cars to 500 hp,and in 3rd you say engine modifications are not allowed.
Also, are we allowed to remove weight from our cars?

Disclaimer: These comments are based on my limited knowledge of the Pwr to Wt ratios issue.

I always wanted to do a race series with the Muscle cars but could never get around the fact that they differ in so many ways. Trying to do it in Arcade was beyond my expertise at the time. I learned a lot from the tuners in the Tuning Garage Challenges a couple of years ago.

I was excited when this thread popped up and proceeded to run some laps on Deep Forest to compare the cars. I used the Shelby Cobra, Cougar, Corvette Stingray and the GT500. It seems (with my driving style and ability) that the Cobra is the odd man out. It has an unfair advantage in the pwr to wt category. Some of my findings below based on the HP & car weight from my Prima GT4 Game Guide.

Cobra 427 - 5.02
Cougar XR-7 - 9.80
Corvette Stingray - 9.40
GT500 - 9.1

Assuming that the Cobra stays at its stock settings the best the cars could achieve with out trimming the weight is:

Cougar - 6.2
Stingray - 6.6
GT500 - 5.6

Some other car best scenarios using current wt and 500HP figures

Charger Super Bee 426 - 8.1
SuperBird - 7.7

I did run a car from adamgp's garage which got into the range of the Cobra. He allowed me to run his cars in a few series and I have always enjoyed his Muscle stuff. I left a lot of stuff off of the car to make it legal for the race. I think I got it to 494 HP. Mine didn't but this does have the Wt reduction 3 package. Here it is.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3010470&postcount=41 If you use something like this it's pwr to wt ratio is 4.85. Spot on with the Cobra.

Are we allowed to add stuff to readjust the gears. Otherwise Nurburgring and other tracks with some straights might be rev limited nightmares.

You have the daunting task of trying to present a series where the cars at least are equal to each other. Something I could not do.

Thank you for noticing that mistake. You are not allowed to use weight reductions. Only mufflers, engine, and turbo packages are the only legal upgrades.

That is why I enabled racers to upgrade their car's horsepower. The muscle cars in the game sounded good to be included in :gtplanet: competition, but yes, the fact that all of the muscle cars do not have similar, nor close to the same amount of power.

I'm in and going with a 'Dukes of Hazard' orange Dodge Charger 440 R/T 1970.

The rules look strangely familiar. Croww waves his hand in jedi fashion, "These aren't the rules your looking for. You can go about your buisness. Move along!"

:)

But what about gearbox ? Some of them will reach max speed in couple of seconds and balanced horsepower will than mean nothing. LSD might be problem on some cars too.
This challenge seems like fun but I need to check my school schedule first and then I'll decide whether to participate or not.

Done.

I have no idea what you are talking about. :sly:

I am not going to include the gearbox nor the LSD as a legal upgrade for this season. But for future seasons, I will make them legal.

Hope you can make it for the season.

You are now #01. But not in the rankings, so don't get cocky. :sly:

Of course not, I'm definitely going to lose the endurance races because I'm too lazy and cheap to race them myself and I've never learned about B-spec strategizing so I'm screwed for that...

I'm lazy too, but I just turn on some music to keep the gaming adrenaline going for the long races. Plus, try going into practice with the B-Spec mode to get a good glimpse of the directions and experience with it. If you are an experienced Gran Turismo racer, then you will achieve a better time than if you keep the endurance races set to B-Spec.

Ok, thanks for info :)

Schedule checked, I will have enough time to compete although 4 hours of Nur might be tricky for me but we'll see eventually... I'll pick Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 1970 with 70 as a number.
I'll need to buy a whole bunch of tires since some races requires sport tires while some doesn't have limit so we can use racing ones. :sly:

Are we going to be able to tune the transmission?
If not I can't see the point in entering this.
Most muscle cars already have too much power for the stock 4-spd and max out at 115-125mph. Tuning them to 500HP to match the Shelby Cobra isn't going to achieve anything unless we're able to make use of the power.
I'm contemplating running a Plymouth or the Mercury, but I want to know if it'll be a complete waste of time?

I agree with Smallhorses. I think I'm going to pull out actually, C. I don't want to have to tune the car because muscle cars sound great without the tuning, and just feel much better to me.

oldmodelt & I would like to enter a Team in the 1969 Corvette Stingray
( because it looks so good, just like us :) ).

Racing number 69 ( obviously :sly:)

Sorry, I already claimed that beauty. She's mine, so choose another car.

Thanks, glad you liked the Cougar. 👍 It was/is one of my favorites.

I'm tempted to join this competition.

I'll take the '64 GTO if it's not already taken.
