Classic American Muscle Championship - The Dawn of Season 2 In Session

I'd like to see you create a race series. And don't say you won't have any issues like I've had. :sly:

Click on the Local Gatherings sub-forum of the Rumble Strip! ;)
You'll find all the SFGTP threads! I organised the vast majority of those events and series that we ran there, and made the LAN work. :P

G'Day all,
I enjoyed the first Muscle Car comp 👍 and would probably enter this one except I think I have lost my co Pilot :ouch:
Also looking at the rules with all the upgrades, it is starting to look like a "who is the best at tuning" competition, rather than a no frills mano a mano Racing series with roughly equal Cars.
Does not appeal at this stage.
Sorry :indiff:

That's pretty much what I was thinking.

However I do want to drive a Superbee with the #88, but I'll only be fitting a proper gearbox and set of N2 tires. Racing the way nature intended!👍

Entries are still up if anyone else wants to participate. I for one am not going to compete in this season. I don't want to hold Smallhorses back with my epic records.

I help choose what obnoxious contestant should be an idol on the X Factor. It's not the judges who vote for them. It is the people at the network behind the desks who pay the judges to be passive, as we choose the contestants that will get us more money and ratings. :sly:

Any chance for an extra week or two for this competition?

February has turned out to be a busy month for me, and I haven't had the chance to run many of the races races.

I will see what I can do.

Due to issues and constant complaints, I will extend the season until the day mainly dedicated to the Irish. For they will be celebrating by drinking a lot... more.

Hi there. I regret to inform you all that I'm withdrawing from this series.
After thousands of hours of playing time, my DFP pedals have finally given up and it doesn't look like I can rectify the sticky brake pedal issue that's been plagueing them for a while anymore. I've lost count of the number of times I've stripped them down, cleaned them out, reseated potentiometers and wires and generally resurrected them more than I really ought to have! Since I'm not progressing to GT5, I'm not inclined to buy a new wheel / pedals, so I'm calling it quits. :(

Will still be around but won't be a competitor anymore. 👍
Good luck to all!

That's too bad. Why not drive with the DS2? That's what I use.

As for me, the time extension is nice since I won't be submitting times until after I get back from Daytona.

Well that certainly isn't a plus on the good side. I wouldn't be acting all sincere if I was participating this season. But since your wheel had to break down on you, this series won't be so alive as it was. Hope to see you back in the game soon, and good riddance. :sly:

Pardon the double post.

It looks like there are only three competitors left in the race. Positions are still open freely to any who would like to apply. The deadline is St. Patrick's Day on March 17. You have three weeks left, and that is definitely enough time to complete all of the races. Keep in mind that there are no endurance races, so you won't have to worry about losing points from not taking hours to complete each race.

Only 3 competitors? Yikes. Is the competition still on?

I think I'll finally have time to run some races tomorrow. Probably just submit those times since I don't know if I'll have time to run them again.

I am worried if there should be a third season or not after the number of competitors in this round. But if Smallhorses returns to the field soon enough, then for sure there will be a sequel.

I am worried that there are too many series running at the same time with less than a dozen competitors between them all. If some arrangement could be made such that there were only two or three different series running each month then I'm sure they would be better supported.

At the moment I think we have:
Crooooooow running the Classic American Muscle,
Shotamagee running his weekly arcade time trials,
AndersonG22 and his epic racing series,
Matej with his track day challenge and also about to start series two of his hot hatch challenge,
and BH-21 still has 3 different series going.

Nobody with a job or a life could possibly race competitively in all of them and as I said there are not many of us available to fill the grid slots.

If in April say there was just one low end series (hot hatch, classics or similar), and a high end series (DTM, JGTC, LeMans or similar) then I might be able to compete in both. There may even be room for a mid level series at the same time to give a bit of variety, but I wouldn't be competing in all three.

I'll have to drop out.

Last weekend my car died so I was busy with that, and this weekend I have to go shopping for a new washing machine, as that just died. I won't have time for races.

Disappointing, this was probably going to be my 'last hurrah' for GT4, or most likely Gran Turismo in general.

I'm thinking I don't stand a chance against that Shelby. That being said, I did really like how the Superbee handled with its high weight, race tires, and tuned suspension.

Adamgp has promised to send his times shortly later tonight. Everyone will hopefully see the results by then.

I said I would try, but as I posted above I am unable to run any races due to some home repair emergencies.

I gave it a try but I'll have to drop out.

This season was a massive let down. It started out great with previous competitors in the mood to race again in the series. But, then most of the racers dropped out due to time consumption issues or mechanical difficulties with their gaming equipment. After all of that hoopla, it was down to two competitors. Car-less & thc118 went at it on the tracks.

Car-less seemed to have taken first place in all of the races, leaving thc118 stuck in last. Times were close a few times around. But, I hope they had fun competing head to head.

I am informing to all competitors and audience that the next season of the CAMC will not go live for several months. The best time will be after all of the current :gtplanet: GT4 Race Series' are at a pause. This will leave space open for new interests to examine and enter the Classic American Muscle Championship. I am unsure of the exact date or time period, but I will inform more data when examinations have been completely discovered. I will also send Private Messages to previous competitors only about the starting of Season 3 as an alert message. Thank you everyone for participating in the series and hope to see you back in the game with us soon.

P.S. to Smallhorses: Get that Logitech GT Force Cockpit fixed to revive the series at ludicrous speed! :sly:

Yay, go me!

On a more serious note, it's a shame that only one other driver finished the season. I would have loved a bit more competition - more of a nailbiter than the whitewash it turned into.

I started with a low mileage Shelby GT350 (a couple of hundred miles on the clock) and added these parts, taking the power after oil change to precisely 500hp in the tuning screen or 469hp on the replays.

Racing exhaust
Racing chip
Supercharger
Engine balance

Racing suspension
Racing brakes
Brake balance controller

Full custom gears
Triple plate clutch
Racing flywheel
Full custom LSD
Carbon driveshaft

Weight reduction Stage 1, 2 and 3.

I then went to the power and speed: test course and spent the day tweaking the car for each event.

After the first runs I gave myself targets of under 11s, under 20s and 200mph, the first two of which I eventually achieved but the third I could not. Each event had a specific setup which would be useless for anything else - the gear ratios for the 400m were very short and the suspension for the max speed even made the corners of the test course tricky!

For the next event I chose LaSarthe as it requires both speed and stability. Once I had the car setup for this race I made no further changes to it except for tyres. S3s for the clubman cup, R4s at Sarthe, R5s everywhere else.

Knowing how squirrely the car can be on sports tyres I left the clubman cup to the very end while I got used to its handling. When I did eventually arrive here I knew that Apricot hill would be my worst result - a standing start without adequate rubber left me playing catchup with the field, and I only beat thc118 by 7 hundredths of a second!

At the other end of the scale I was very confident about the Umbria rally as I had a small car and am more used to the narrow European roads than the other competitors that hail from the wide open spaces of the USA. A 10 second margin was massive, but not wholly surprising.

In all I put over 1000 miles onto the Shelby GT350 and the initial 500hp had dropped to 496hp by the end despite my changing the oil every 120 miles or less!
