Classic American Muscle Championship - The Dawn of Season 2 In Session

IT'S ALIVE!

I was feeling ambitious today and decided to open up the ps2 for one more try at getting it running, and now it works like new. 👍

I missed season 1 but I'll be ready to run season 2.

Grand job Sir!

Knew you could do it with a little perseverance.

Good to have another racer back in the fold. 👍
See you for season 2 all being well.

@ Crooooooow: Do we stand any chance of seeing a corrected results table? 💡

Thanks, looking forward to it.

It was a total guess as to the adjustment of the laser but now it reads gt4 and every other game I tried.

See you in season 2.

I found it was an iterative procedure, done by trial and error.
Start with laser in bottom position and loosely secure the top disc cover (or hold it in place) then close the drawer and see if it'd read the disc, and if not, eject, take off disc cover and drawer mechanism, move the wheel a few clicks, then close the drawer and see if it'd read the disc, and if not, eject, take off disc cover and drawer mechanism, move the wheel a few clicks, etc., etc., until it worked.

I actually got lucky and got it on the first try this time, with the laser set a few clicks above half way. So far so good.

I ran the '64 GTO I would've entered and ran a few races and it was more than competitive.

You happen to have jumped up one position onto the podium, and drop thc118 down one.

Sorry for the mess ups everyone. The thing that got me messed up was reading oldmodelt's & viperin's times. They did not list the endurance tracks in order, which through me off. But there is no fault on their part. It was my fault that I assumed those times were sequential.

At this point, I have a confirmation for the release date of season 2 of the Classic American Muscle Championship. It will be revealed with the full moon of the 7th of February, and end its cycle for the next full moon on the 8th of March. So you Jewish competitors can celebrate Purim with more celebration to see if you won or not.

I shall list more information shortly for updates and possible specials for season 2.

That nose cone.

That ridiculous nose cone beat me by a lousy 0.039 seconds. :grumpy:

At least I can now say I've truly lost by a nose.

Ok, so this time "transmissions" means British "transmission" i.e. gearbox, driveshaft, clutch, flywheel & differential, right?
Not just the "gearbox" like last time?

Correct. You know, I like the Brits, for they brought us the Flying Circus, The British Invasion, and John Inman. But, why must they have a separate definition for transmission? Sometimes it doesn't make sense.

Ummm, they don't! It's our language and we defined it!
We can't help it if you breakaway colonials go changing it!! :P

Anyway, what're we looking at timeline-wise for this one? I'm going to be away for more or less all of March, and for some of April too.
Looks like the enduros have gone though, so this might be a little quicker to run.
Rallying with Muscle Cars, that's evil!

I think I'll take the Plymouth 'Cuda with #74 this time round, I'm sure there's one kicking around my garage somewhere. It's notoriously out of the league of the other Muscle Cars, but since we're allowed to do some transmission, engine and suspension fettling, I'm curious to see how far off-pace it still remains! :dopey:

You should be able to finish the races before your departure.

you may tune your car up to 500hp with any upgrade of your choice. The specified horsepower should be in the range from 420 to 500hp. Any performance upgrade is eligible for this season. Tires, suspension, transmission (gearbox, driveshaft, clutch, flywheel & differential), etc.

3) Washing and oiling your car may be done freely. Or if you choose to keep it filthy and a disgrace to us all, be so. A refresher plan or stiffness is optional and may be purchased at a racing teams discretion. Any tire set may be purchased and used also at the driver or racing teams discretion. Nitrous Oxide purchase and use is banned. Banned I say!

I don't see anything above preventing the fitting of a racing chip/racing brakes/weight reduction. Just double checking so that I don't have to redo any races after removing illegal parts as happened last time.

Code:
Tracks

1. Rally d’ Umbria (EASY)
2. Rally d’ Capri (NORMAL)
3. George Paris (HARD)

With these narrow and twisty tracks there's no way I'd attempt to use the massive Super Bird from before. I think I'll go with something a bit smaller...

I have modified the rules a tad for the season. Any upgrade is eligible for the season.

Good to see you back on board Car-less! 👍
Get the feeling I'm going to be eating a lot of Shelby dust this season, but I'm sticking with the Plymouth marque, if not the same model as last time!

Are all the cars able to have a wing fitted?
It's not forbidden by the rules as they stand, and I can get one onto the 'Cuda, however, if they're not compatible with all the cars, they shouldn't be allowed.
Might want to check this Crooooooow. ;)

Count me in. I'll go with the '64 GTO I wanted to run from last time.

Choose your number.

My Shelby Mustang cannot be fitted with a wing either, and it's a slippery character once you start adding power. This is going to be a challenge for all the opposite reasons to last time!

For fairness, I would say, therefore, that since wings can't be fitted across the complete selectable lineup of eligible cars, that they should not be available at all, and added to the next line of rules alongside NOS as banned.

This is just like the start of last season!
Everyone raring to go, and no-one wanting to drive just yet in case we're submitting ineligible times!
Sort it out Crooooooow! :mischievous:

I second that wings should be banned. Besides, they just look silly on classic muscle.

Not to be picky, but your rules say that everything is allowed, and lists a few examples, but then everything else is banned. Since racing brakes and a brake balance controller fit into the 'everything' that's allowed because they're available on every car, do they also count in the "everything else is banned" category because they're not on the examples list?
I'm confused.
Clarity is a wonderful thing, and we need some here.

If you want everything except NOS & wings to be available, why not just add the wing ban to the NOS ban line instead of confusing matters with a contradictory statement on your upgrades line? ;)

Noticed this post from you in the Photomode competitions thread:

It's a few days past the deadline. Get into the game SVX!

And yet, we're still waiting on an answer to the question I posed above, here.
We're several days past the start date to begin racing, but no-one is even sure what's allowed and what's not due to your contradictory rules.

Get into the game Crooooooow! :sly:
