CLASSIC RACING - Sundays 17:00-19:00 BST - CONGRATULATIONS CHAMPIONS Flaco & Lex LathorFinished

Seriously; I just fall apart. Maybe it's because I actually have a chance of winning. That's my huge problem. I will take a break from racing in this series and come back once I have improved my skills. Sure, I may be fast in a time trial, but if you can't make it count in the real race then you just don't have what it takes to be racing driver.

Why not learn and improve with us? Racing with real people is definitely harder than racing a ghost or the in game AI, but building the ability to focus and concentrate without the mind wandering or making a mistake comes from practise and confidence. Also if you could do the last two races you would find it easier - the Lotus Elan is a perfect warmup to the WSR, F3 car which follows. It is hard to come in cold when the others have already warmed up with the three previous races.

Race Report - Round 17 Daytona Road
We tried a day to night transition with the World Classic Cars and a night to day transition with the Cobra Ferrari Wars, with normal afternoon daylight for the Elans and F3 cars. My personal favourite was the night to day transition - it was very nice to be racing with the sun rising, however the PS3 seems to be at its absolute limit running these graphics and we had some very strange effects during the meeting - normally momentarily - but such things as the track turning into glass with a blue sky under or turning into giant black and white squares! We had to just keep racing and assume that a rival team had spiked our tea in the hospitality tent!

We tried the endurance race function for the first time and ran three races for 15 minutes and one for 20 minutes - many apologies for that last minute change which resulted in Lex running out of petrol. We will use the endurance function again as it helps control the length of the meeting. We will also try futher night transitions as it added atmosphere and variety, but perhaps there will be fewer magic mushroom moments with the graphics on a shorter track?

World Classic Cars

1st - Lex Lathor - Corvette C1
2nd - Sick Cylinder - Mercedes 300 SL
3rd - Flaco - Shelby GT350
4th - Emotional Rekz - Pontiac GTO

Cobra Ferrari Wars

1st - Emotional Rekz - Cobra
2nd - Flaco - Ferrari 250 GT
3rd - Racercad (TheJohnG) - Cobra
4th - Sick Cylinder - Ferrari 250 GTO

The race was set to 20 minutes and unfortunately Lex Lathor ran out of fuel having setup for a 15 minute race. IfAndOr found the CorvetteC2 Race Car very thirsty and had to stop twice for fuel, having not taken on enough at the first stop.

Above smokey start for the Smiley C2 Corvette. Below there was close racing through the field, here Racercad Cobra leads Sick Ferrari GTO and Smiley Corvette C2.

Senna Tribute: WSR, F3

1st - Flaco
2nd - Lex Lathor
3rd - Emotional Rekz
4th - SmileyWRX

The F3 cars were a lot of fun at Daytona Road and even with the draft set to real there was plenty of slip streaming on the straights and banked turns.
Below, four abreast on the banking!

Next Round - Sunday 20th July at 17:00 BST, Matterhorn Rifelsee (driving line optional) Four 15 minute Races.

Join us - burst that online cherry - you know you want to!

Apologies to anyone who was behind me at the starts of race 2 and 3. My screen remained blank for a few seconds and I couldn't see where I was going - I just accelerated and hoped for the best. In fact I didn't bother qualifying for the Senna WSR so I could be at the back of the grid! Which was just as well because, for this race, my screen didn't appear until I'd gone past the start/finish line! Everyone was way ahead by then so I gave up on the race. Although I didn't get any of the other glitches mentioned by Sick. Very strange.

Sick - many apologies for that last minute change which resulted in Lex running out of petrol.
These are our new tactics to help us catch up. ;) It didn't help me what with that C2 being such a gas guzzler - 2 pit stops!!

Anyway here are some pictures from the first race - The Classics. (C.F.Wars to follow later)

Okay, I really need to lower my expectations. At the next race at the Riffelsee my goal will not be to win, but to just finish the flipping race! The number of DNFs I have is just ridiculous!
Well, I absolutely agree with Sick:

Just like Sick does, I recommend you to participate in all our races. When I jumped in this Classics Club I wasn´t satisfied with myself for the first couple of meetings at all, it only became better over time. I´m much more confident, focused and relaxed now which results in less mistakes I make. I can also tell how other participants got faster since then, so its not just me.
I now also participate in the ITC-5 races where racing is so different to this one, I´m going to have to start at zero again, the first tests showed me that. They race more aggressive and with much more contact like, in a typical British Touringcar way, something I will need time to adapt to.

I don´t think to jump from hot lapping in time trial straight to our WSR race is a good idea, exactly how Sick said it, we where warmed up. You probably done a lot of solo-laps on Daytona with that F3 car, I didn´t practice the car on that track at all. So I´m completely sure if you had more man vs. man experience you would have easily passed me on the exit of that first turn performing a nice counterattack, instead of what you did, and leaving me with big troubles to keep up.

I don't know if any of you have driven on the Riffelsee yet, but it's terrifying.

Big jump into the barrier on my first lap, signs on the left went down like domino's, and I haven't even tried the fast cars yet. Cooler heads will prevail this time.

I think that Big Jump is as I was doing the motocross in arena...

Lovely pictures as always IfAndOr!

Matterhorn Riffelsee looks particularly nice, late afternoon / early evening so we will do the first 2 races with that effect and brighter sunlight for the Lotus Elan and Senna WSR, F3 car.

If anyone wants to earn a few credits while they practise - you can do the Cornergrat League for Matterhorn Riffelsee in National A - you only earn 35,220 credits (including login bonus), but it is better than nothing and you can use all the cars apart from the Senna F3 (actually I haven't tried that one yet, but will do tomorrow).

FSortIS and Cu3e - I hope you can both join us on Sunday - you are both very welcome.

How should I prepare?

I know you guys prefer classic cars. Do you consider driving regular sport cars such as M3, ISF, Infinity, Benz etc in some races?

I like one-make race the most because all are playing on an equal field. I also suggest to have shuffle race so skill difference can be standardized I hate tunable car race the most.

My PSN is Mr_Smile happy driver :D

We normally do three races each Sunday of which one is untuned (at the moment we are doing four races so that we can use the Senna cars - currently WSR, F3 car).

We swap cars at regular intervals so that over the length of a championship everyone gets to use all the cars on the list - this evens out any differences in performance.

One of the races is a one make series for the Lotus Elan, which is a lovely car to drive.

The cars are intended to compliment each other so that the grip and / or performance builds as the meeting progresses.

I will send you a conversation message regarding the cars - The four races on Sunday are:

1. World Classic Cars - at 315bhp max and 1160kg minimum - they are remarkably similar in performance.

2. Cobra Ferrari Wars - at 460bhp max and 844kg minimum - they vary more in performance (the Cobra has the edge).

3. One Make Series - Lotus Elan at 185bhp max and 600kg minimum - use the Arrakis Speedshop (by Feydrautha) or the LexLathor tune which he listed a page or two before this one.

4. Senna Tribute - WSR, F3 unturned.

In terms of how to prepare - I use the same setup for all the tracks and just adjust the gearing so top gear goes into the red at the fastest point. I use tunes from GTPlanet - normally by Praiano, Motor City Hami and Arrakis Speedshop as I am not good at GT6 tuning. To prepare test at next weeks track in career mode (this earns credits), in arcade mode, using ghost in time trial arcade mode etc.

In this room we just use classic cars or future classics. It is a shame that there is no longer shuffle racing - hopefully they bring it back.

All cars in WSR? Anyways, I don't have enough money for Lotus 97T...

Win the car for silver or gold in the Senna challenge or do Trial Mountain Red Bull challenge 6 times = 18 minutes (if you have the login bonus).
But you know that my PS3 is sick. And I won't do Senna Challenge yet. I'll wait to get 200% login bonus, because 9 million credits are much better than getting just 4.5 million credits.

Thank you, I should be there 👍 Did some practice laps in Corvette C2 yesterday. It is a fun car!

I am not ver familiar with Daytona Road Track but planning to take it easy and get familiar to the cars and the group
