CLASSIC RACING - Sundays 17:00-19:00 BST - CONGRATULATIONS CHAMPIONS Flaco & Lex LathorFinished

Hi @Cu3e.

Don't practice at Daytona Road Circuit - that was last weekend. This coming Sunday the race is at Matterhorn Riffelsee.

Hope to see you there. :)

-------------------------------------------------------------

I don't know if any of you have driven on the Riffelsee yet, but it's terrifying.
And I expect the WSR isn't very good around it - it's a bit bumpy. :nervous: You're right, it'll be a challenge just to finish the race - take it steady and stick with it though. 👍

I would think it'll probably suit the Elan the best.

I'm not familiar with all these cars nor the track. I will run a bit conservatively without crashing haha this week to get a feel of how thing is. May you guys turn on racing line aid and ABS 1? All other aid please turn off for fairness.

@FSportIS - I think we'll all be running a bit conservatively. :)

Sick Cyl always allows the use of ABS, so no problems there. All other aids are off.

Quite often he also allows the driving line to be used. Since it doesn't really affect anyone else, I can't see it being a problem. The Matterhorn Riffelsee is not the easiest of tracks to join us on anyway.

Good luck for Sunday.

@Sick Cylinder - Driving Line OK for FSportIS (and others)??

Matterhorn Riffelsee. There will be some nice scenery to look at - if you can take your eyes of the road for a moment!

Matterhorn Riffelsee will feature four 15 minute races.

The Driving Line will be optional. In future the Driving Line will be optional at all tracks - hopefully this may help us to recruit / retain new members.

Nice track summary Racedcad / the JohnG - I'm going to try those tips out. I have been having a lot of trouble with the Ferrari 250 GTO with wheelspin - also with the Senna F3 car spinning out.

I need to practise this track more. I have noticed that the track seems much easier when you race on it in career mode (National A, Cornergrat League) so I presume that edge grip is not set to real in career mode.

You can use the National A, Cornergrat League for practise for all four cars.

I had problems keeping up with the rest at the uphill section of the track. Easiest way to add torque would be adding parts and limit to spec...

What kind of Power Limiter values you guys are using? I was using 100% in practice session.

Edit: nice photos by the way 👍

Some add parts and limit to spec intensively. It´s whatever makes you feel comfortable with your car. Personally, I am trying to use the limiter as little as possible, I don´t like how you lose HP but torque remains. That can lead to me having disadvantage, but I rather have more realistic power band.

I agree with you. I noticed the C2 loses torgue when the rpm goes over 6000. Gained over a second changing to stock gear box and just short shifting. Just 3 gears! :D

Keeping my 100% limiter for tonight 👍

The C2 Corvette can be used in two events:

Race 1 - World Classic Cars at 315bhp and 1160kg and

Race 2 - Cobra Ferrari Wars at 460bhp and 844kg (or as light as you can get it)

When I used the C2 I supercharged it which gave a lot of torque and used the race exhaust system (it looks better) then used the limiter to bring the power down to 315bhp. I used the custom gearbox with second gear for race starts and fourth gear for most of the track (not Matterhorn) so I agree that you short shift and don't need to change down through the gears much with that car. I think you might be faster with the custom box, but only use second for the start, third and fourth for the uphill sections and fifth for the downhill sections - stick with the three speed if you have a good feel with that and the track.

Race Report - Round 18 Matterhorn Riffelsee
The first two races were held at dusk to hopefully give Mr IfAndOr some great photos. The next two races were held with early afternoon lighting effects. Apologies for any confusion caused at the start of the meeting when the length of time that the room had been open coupled with the time change settings caused some racers to assume that an unannounced night race was being held - this was not the case and practise and qualifying were held in full daylight. Unfortunately one racer quit the room and it was not possible to restart when they rejoined owing to the need to keep the meeting on schedule.

A warm welcome to new racers Bergele and Mr Smile and a warm welcome back to old hand Kisko78. Congratulations to Bergele on a fine 4th place debut in the "Cobra Ferrari Wars" race and congratulations to Kisko for his win in that event.

World Classics
1st - Flaco - Shelby GT350
2nd - Lex Lathor - Corvette C1
3rd - Emotional Rekz - Pontiac GTO
4th - Kisko - Shelby GT350

Cobra Ferrari Wars
1st - Kisko - Cobra
2nd - Lex Lathor - Ferrari 250 GT
3rd - Flaco - Ferrari 250 GT
4th - Bergele - Corvette C2

One Make Series - Lotus Elan
1st - Flaco
2nd - Lex Lathor
3rd - Kisko
4th - Emotional Rekz

Senna Tribute - WSR, F3
1st - Lex Lathor
2nd - Emotional Rekz
3rd - Flaco
4th - Kisko

Probably every racer had at least one spin in the F3 race - these cars have become very sensitive and prone to spin since the 1.09 update. A special mention for Maximusmonster who held a strong third place in the race, but had to quit the over-running meeting to collect his daughter - a great result was on the cards Max - better luck next time.

Next round (19) we switch to the Senna 97T which hopefully, although faster, will be less sensitive than the F3 car.

We switch cars in World Classics and Cobra Ferrari Wars at the next round as scheduled. There will be no need for Bergele, Mr Smile and Kisko to change cars until round 22 as they have only just joined / rejoined.

First of all, thank you all for letting me participate in the event. You all are very fast and I have a lot a lot more to learn.

Secondly, I apologize for typing during the race. Again very sorry!

Third, I hope Kisko would be more careful and less aggressive when you pass me. Once, on a turn, you just slam my car on the side when I try to yield to you and I end up spinning out. Second, you rear end right into me and I almost lost control.

How many cars do I need for round 19 and can someone give me specific tunes (Transmission, suspension, LSD) for all those cars?

Could anyone show me some practice on these specific car running on Red Bull ring. I prefer someone who also uses a wheel. I would like to learn the line and some techniques. Thanks.

I will try and open a practice lobby on saturday, add me on psn. As for tunes I recommend Motor City Hamis Tuning Guide:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/motor-city-tunes-gt6.291066/#post-9003798

It´s quite a long read but it can help very much. If you do a couple of cars following this guide you will get amazing results and learn a lot about how GT works.

P.S. Do you have a headset?

I currently use stock tune as I still want to perfect my driving techniques consistently first before tuning car myself. It would be helpful if some of you can share me with your tune (via PM or something) so I can adapt my driving with that tune. I'm not looking into being super competitive or anything. Thanks for that link, also. I am reading and re-reading it now.

Yes I do have a headset and would like to practice preferably one on one. Should I pm you for the practice so we don't hijack this thread haha.

Glad you are coming back for more. As you have seen Flaco is a very good racer so any help from him will be good. I will help you if and when I can, but I haven't learnt Red Bull Ring yet.

For round 19 you need:

Race 1: Pontiac GTO (315bhp max 1,160kg min) - I sent you details on this tune (Clueless over the hill outlaws). You will use this car until round 21 inclusive (next car change round 22).

Race 2: Shelby Cobra (460bhp max 844kg min) - I sent you details on this tune (Praiano). You will use this car until round 21 inclusive (next car change round 22).

Race 3: TVR V8S (Max tune) Fully lighten and fully tune engine, fit race soft suspension, tune LSD to 10 / 25 / 15, brake bias 7 / 4, custom transmission (race soft suspension works fine with race hard tyres on classic cars and those LSD and brake bias settings normally work fine - if you are spinning out on corner exit raise the centre LSD value to 30). You will use this car until the end of the series i.e. round 24.

Race 4: Senna Lotus 97T - untuned and power limited to 800bhp. Nothing to do on this car except set the limiter. We are restricting the car to 800bhp because the car is supplied in qualifying trim - they normally raced with about 800bhp. You will use this car until the end of the series i.e. round 24.

Re collisions with faster cars overtaking / lapping - it is difficult to pass slower cars and some accidents are inevitable - especially as slight lag can make cars fill a lot of the track. If being lapped move slightly to one side of the track to allow the faster driver past. If you have a headset, use to say "pass on the left" or as appropriate. If I'm not being lapped but the guy approaching from behind is much faster e.g. Flaco I just stay to the side and brake early to let him pass safely. If you have a headset use it to indicate that you will be pitting at the end of the lap - that way the person behind won't need to attempt a pass as they know you are about to come in. We also indicate when entering and leaving pits. Headsets are not used for other chat during races or qualifying. This detail is on page one of the thread. You don't have to use a headset, but if you have one it can be helpful.

If you stick with this series your lap times and racing ability will improve - that has noticeably happened to all the racers and because these cars are a bit harder to drive than average it should also improve your skills and results when racing in modern car rooms.

NB We are using the TVR V8S in tribute to the 1964 TVR Griffith (200 and 400) which battled on track with the Cobra and other cars in 1965. Hopefully PD give us one of these cars in the future (it has been suggested via the car suggestions section) - vote here:

Sick, not sure if this is ok to ask. Would newbie get some handicap such as higher HP or PP so the at least during the race, i can see cars and not being alone and also see the line you guys drive. I don't mean to get advantage to win or anything, I'm purely looking for fun and learning.

Matterhorn Riffelsee was a very hard track to join on and you didn't have all the right cars. This Sunday with Red Bull Ring it should be a lot easier for you - the Pontiac GTO is one of the best cars in World Classics and the cobra is the best car for race 2 - I think it has won all the races.

Everyone in the room is improving and if you get the right cars then do some practise on the track each week the results will come. If possible I want to avoid using handicaps.

Take up any offers from people like Flaco to copy lines in practise. Re having other people of a similar speed to race against - that normally happens on its own - the field normally breaks up into groups of two or three - Matterhorn Rifelsee was not a typical meeting, it's narrowness resulted in lots of spins for all drivers. The quality of the racing experience will vary from week to week - the important thing is to maintain concentration and not quit after a mistake, but keep going and try to battle back.

Six, I'm planning to make an apperance in just on the last round as my title is already ruined :(

If you have the time and your PS3 is working why not enter as many rounds as you can - I realise you are very competitive, but for most of us we are not racing to win the championship, but for the pleasure of racing.

Riffelsee? Oh man it's a crazy one. Over in WSC we did Dristelen last season. That was mental... this season we do Rotenboden.

We're kicking off on sunday as well, from us all good luck @Sick Cylinder 👍

Thanks Furinkazen and good luck with your series. I enjoyed Matterhorn for the challenge and the variety, but unfortunately my good laps were ones I did the day before and not the ones I did in the race.

I know the feeling  did 38 laps at Red Bull Ring last week. Come raceday i'll probably stuff it

Sorry, but a driver has to give its best.... Anyways, I'll try my best.
