CLASSIC RACING - Sundays 17:00-19:00 BST - CONGRATULATIONS CHAMPIONS Flaco & Lex LathorFinished

Well I don´t know what to say.

If I accidentally chose the wrong tyre (SH instead of RH) and use hood view theres a couple of things I would do: Use rear view a lot; use left/right view also and when P1 and P2 are closing up at a much faster pace than I could ever go with the far less grippy compound, I would definitely look for a way to let them lap me safely (not just in case of different compound, but in every case getting lapped means to make way), even if it means to lose my position to the one behind me (in that case, Sick). There is a lot of things you could have done, one example would be ... to brake? You also could have taken the entry from the very right and slowed down, which would have allowed Lex and me to pass you safely, but you chose to keep your line on the inside. We didn´t fight for position, Lex and I were lapping you and the two of us had a battle for 1st. And neither of us rammed you intentionally.

And last, how am I suppose to know you ran Sports Hard? Had you had RH, like the rest, this wouldn´t have happened either, because you didn´t have that much understeer and could have let me (at least) pass you safely by a quick lift off of throttle.

Edit: Just realized that many of you guys were using Sports Hard, not sure why.

Flaco, I didn't know you were coming up behind me! When I first saw you, I was already stuck in my slide to the outside and there was nothing I could do. Braking would not have worked. Also, I didn't even know who you were until after you passed, so I didn't know I was being lapped. Had I known you were there, and you were lapping me, and if I had control of the car, I would have gotten out of the way. As for SH? I thought we were running stock.

I'm sorry to have been in your way. During the race, I was pissed at the honking because it seemed you thought I was intentionally blocking you. In reality, you came from nowhere and were in the path of my uncontrollable trajectory. I've watched the replay from several views, and I don't blame you for honking. But please don't think I intended to block you.

I think the problem was that many of the drivers thought that when Sick stated untuned it meant using the standard tyres the Lambo came with - Sports Hard. I did ask him about the tyres on one of my posts and he said Race Hard were allowed - as per the rest of the championship.

Now if folks didn't know/see this, there as been somewhat of an unfair advantage to those of us using the stickier compound. Those on the SH's would be trying to push harder to keep up, wondering why other were pulling away - @Jbaffoh . And the RH drivers wondering why others are sliding about so much - @Flaco13 . Thus causing the incidents mentioned above - and creating the cars to be lapped when they possibly shouldn't have been.

It's a shame. Good racing otherwise.

Not sure Sick - Over to you.

Also it's a pity GT6 doesn't in some way show that a leading car is about to lap you. When you're caught up in your own battles it's sometimes hard to keep track of others in the race. GT5 used to ghost the lapped cars and you could drive through them - not very realistic I thought. It just needs something flashing on the HUD to warn you and give you the chance to perhaps give way.

After Flaco's sluggish launch, 5th place qualifier Whisper nearly steals the lead from Lex after the first turn. But even with Flaco kindly blocking Emo and If, Whisper eventually succumbs to the siren call of the guard rails and slips to a dismal 7th.

To everyone I swapped paint with today, I apologize. I hadn't been around Madrid since the first day of the BMW seasonal (weeks ago), my 507 was not tuned, and I had never driven a Countach until our 6 minutes of practice. I guess that's pretty reckless on my part. Also, it seems I need to wean myself from the hood view and use one with a rear view. I'll be better prepared next week.

To start with, my Countach is now Gaillo Sole, the oil is changed, and it's shoed with RH.

I'll be tuning the 507 and repainting it something more suitable.

I also changed my clothes (thought I had an open faced helmet until I saw the replays).

I'm looking forward to Monza!

Our fellow participants could avoid problems like which tyres are to use, which colours and which colour/car in a given race by following this thread more closely.

When it was time to use the Lambo I was waiting for someone from the "red fraction" to raise the issue, Sick surprisingly said nothing at all and everyone seemed completely comfortable with having four red Countachs in the race. As no one said anything I chose to change, at last moment, to a Matte Dark Silver car that I had used for practise.

So, sure Whisper couldn´t identify me but if you had all followed the thread closely you had realized I was the first to post the LP400 to use in "Rosso Siviglia". I even asked to let me know if the colour was taken so I could change it in case, then before the race there were 4 red ones :/. This is all causing a lot of confusion, so please, in future be so kind to tell Sick which colour your cars will be in and do so early enough for him to announce this here. If we know who is running which colour and car it will be easier for us to identify others.

I don´t know which HUD settings you use but it would be best to make it show the grid and/or the psn-id on top of the car, this way you can identify others. (And know if you are about to get lapped ;) Although I agree wit IfAndOr, it shouldn´t have ocurred this last race!)

Edit: @Sick Cylinder if its ok with you I´d like to just stick to the Matte Dark Silver on the LP400 now. Otherwise let me know so I can paint it anything else.

Wanna talk about color? I was first to pick green. Two others followed. Sick posted that hopefully there would be a red one, so I switched to red. Much to my surprise, many others also did.

Makes me wonder if Sick has simply ignored much of our colour choices. :odd:

My apologies Emo and If for this, very stupid manouvre.

I get the pole by an almost 2sec. faster quali-lap ... and then mess it all up so utterly great with a false start and ignoring the two Corvettes to my right after the first corner ... sometimes I just :banghead:

Not to mention missing the braking point while leading Lex and then kissing the wall of the chicane in the Lambo race ... please don´t post pictures ... I died at that moment! :indiff:

Actually, I think you turned into a ghost and they went right through you. If and I traded places a couple times until I self destructed in the third lap.

When I watched the replay it seemed like it still made them slow down, I think I only turned ghost after already touching the middle Corvette, which then pushed the right one* into the wall.

Edit: *the one on the right. (It else could be misunderstood  )

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL RACERS - Please Read

It was a shame that the racing this week contained more incidents than it should particularly the Lamborghini race.

Following advice received from Furinkazen who is one of the games most experienced hosts, from next Sunday inclusive, we will be using a public lobby instead of a private room - this should increase connection stability and will also have the advantage that if I become disconnected you can continue racing with IfAndOr hosting (or in his absence Birdseed). I request that you exchange FR's with each other, particularly with IfAndOr and Birdseed to facilitate the sending of messages if required.

Voice chat will be enabled (we had been running with it switched off in order to increase bandwidth). The purpose of the voice chat is to enable the leaders to indicate when they are approaching and about to lap another driver. The horn can also be used by the lead driver when about to lap another driver. No offence should be taken by the use of the horn - in this case it is purely a warning signal. To avoid confusion the horn should not be used at any other time including while stationary on the grid. Some drivers do not have microphones or their spoken English may not be good - this does not matter and they will not be discriminated against - they can use the horn to warn the driver in front that they are about to lap.

Use of the horn for any purpose other than that outlined will result in a warning and or penalty.

Voice chat will also enable a driver to indicate if he intends to carry out a pitstop. The procedure will be that at the start of the lap on which he intends to pit, the driver will say his name and that he is pitting at the end of this lap. He will also say that he is about to pit when approaching the pit lane. The driver will also announce when he has left the pits and rejoined the track - while doing so he will endeavour to stay inside the white lines when rejoining.

For example in my case on crossing the start line I would say "Sick pitting on lap ten".

On approaching the pits I would say "Sick entering Pits".

On rejoining the race I would say "Sick rejoining race".

If a driver is about to be lapped, he should hold a steady course and if possible momentarily lift off the throttle so that the faster driver can pass.

It is hoped that the above changes will reduce the number of incidents to a minimum. Constructive criticism to help improve the series is welcomed if sent by private message.

The purpose of this thread is to provide information about the race series including results and photos and also to market the series to the GTPlanet community. Disputes about driving and other criticisms should be raised privately.

We want the cars to look appropriate to their era and varied colours also aid with identification. When it is time for a change of car (currently every three weeks) early notification of car and colour choice is helpful. This process should largely be self policing as drivers will see what has already been chosen.

Whisper's cars and colors, Weeks 7-9:

BMW 507 '57: Weinrot (dark red)
Countach '74: Gaillo Sole (yellow)
Corvette '60: Opalescent Gunmetal (dark silver/grey)

If this creates a conflict with anyone, please let me know.

Thanks for the compliment Sick 👍, not sure who you are merged with in that photo but it's not me for sure - so no apologies needed (at least not to me :)) Here's the next batch (hope you like 'em!):

I like the shot of Max and me. How many drift points did Sick get for that?

Many thanks Whisper 👍, i wasn't sure who it was in that one but i'm happy with the result - top driving guys!

Not sure on Sick's score but i'm fairly confident he got his full quota of red flags! ;)

Very nice shots Zulu. (Can I hang my picture taking boots up now Sick? ;))

Look at the body roll on the BMW 507 - must have racing very soft suspension fitted!

(Check out Sick's use of Hybrid technology!)
 Looks like an episode of pimp my car gone badly wrong! Don't worry you'll never see the join.

On a serious note though @Sick Cylinder - I take it the Cobra (Stu) couldn't see you and you couldn't see it (invisible cars). Therefore if I'm right, you wouldn't know it was in the race or it's finishing position?

Oh Whisper, I was going to use - Weinrot (dark red), Gaillo Sole (yellow) and Opalescent Gunmetal (dark silver/grey)...

...Just kidding. :P

Thanks a lot If 👍, i sure hope you're not going bare-foot soon - i appreciate your work equally as much!

I've got another batch to post in the morning, i look forward to seeing some different takes on the action :)

Amazing shots, If!!!
Thanks. I like to mess around in photomode - amazing what you can achieve without any further editing.

I'll capture some from the classics race tomorrow and I think Zulu's going to add some more aswell. It's going to be a colurful thread. :)

Fabulous shots If and Zulu!

Re the drift into the hairpin on lap one in the Countach - that was 30,000 points, but sadly had nothing to do with driving skill. I had tested the car with race hard rear and sports front tyres and enjoyed the way it handled. When I tried to enter the room the game seemed to lose my settings (even though the car was standard) and wouldn't let me enter. Eventually I got in and started the qualifier and immediately noticed there was something terribly wrong with the car - it had race tyres on the front and sports on the rear! I decided I would have to pit for fresh tyres on the first lap and thought I would take it steady, but as soon as I touched the brakes the car broadsided around the hairpin like Russ Swift in one of those old Montego adverts.
