CLASSIC RACING - Sundays 17:00-19:00 BST - CONGRATULATIONS CHAMPIONS Flaco & Lex LathorFinished

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The Cobra v Corvette Championship will end on round 12. It will be replaced by a new championship running from round 13-24 - full details are given towards the bottom of the first post of this thread. NB Track Schedule to be added.

The World Classic Cars Championship is unaffected and will continue to run until round 24.

The One Make Car Championship is unaffected except that to save credits and give people more time with the cars the Lotus Elan will be used from round 13-18 and the TVR will be used from round 19-24.

NB June 8th will be a practise meeting, with short races enabling people to test the cars to be used in the new "Cobra Ferrari Wars" Championship. Round 13 will be held on 15th June.

NO chicanes?

Oops, time to reset my gear ratios and learn a new track! Glad I saw this today and not Sunday morning (race time is 9:00 am here).

Yes - they didn't have the chicanes when our World Classic Cars and Cobras were racing!

Round 13 - 18 Lotus Elan (Lotus Yellow) and Round 19 - 24 TVR (Lotus Yellow)

There's wing on your BMW!!! If you race with wings, you are disqualiffied from the race!!!

Why do you want to end Cobra vs Corvette? These new series will require a lot of money... :(

He was the one who posted it, he doesn't need reminding.
But I want everybody to know that wings cannot be fitted on cars, otherwise, we're disqualiffied. But there was an special case: Flegma used an Cobra with wing but he didn't know, so his result was valid. But before Classics Racing, I was already on Sunday Showdown. The first time that I was, I had an polarized Stratos and an green Chrome Dino: both with wings. But as I realized that I couldn't use wings, so I had to buy a new Ferrari 246 because the chromed green was an trophy for me.

Did the rules change with regard to practice laps? I thought we had 6 minutes to practice before the start of qualifiers. But today, I could not even complete one lap between the room being changed for the next car, and the start of qualification.

Also, it would be nice to have a longer qualification period with longer tracks. I prefer to start a few seconds later so I can see the first corner approaching without the names and blue lines obscuring my view. But if I do that and blow a turn because I haven't adjusted to the car change (i.e., no practice laps), then there is only sufficient time to make one more attempt. If you spin out and plow through deep fields of sand, there might not be time for ANY more attempts once you slog your way back to the track.

PD needs to get rid of the forced blue lines. But I think also need to take track length into account when setting the timers.

We saw today the open lobby obviously works better than the private ones we used before. We were done with the 3 races pretty early today also because of not facing any connection problems. So I agree with you, Whisper. I´m sure no one would mind to have a bit more free-run or practice time in between the races.

Pit Stop Entry Speed

I was watching the replays observing the lap times of laps with pit-stops. Seems like we (well most of us) need to practice pit stop entries.

Most of us enter the pits flat out, which then makes our car go about 50m into the pits, then resets to an entry spot (about the same 50m back) is what it shows in replays. This is causing slow lap times! It can take away about 3 to 5 seconds!!!

Watch the replays aswell, check out each drivers behaviour on pit entry. If it resets, he is doing it wrong. Some driver(s) car(s) never seem to reset, as driver lifts off and brakes (?) close before the control of the car goes to the auto-pilot (as I call it, in lack of knowledge for a better word). If we adapt this behaviour, we gain very useful time!

I find it sad that those who seem to know about this issue didn´t bother to raise it and share it with the others but rather silently enjoy the advantage it is giving them.

I was so disgusted by my performance in the first two races that I forgot to save replays. I'd like to see some pics from them!

Here, I'm overtaking Emo and thinking I had a shot at the lead, but late braking killed me too many times. Eventually, I had my own private battle with Zulu. Just as I'd prepare to overtake him, I'd step out of bounds for another 3-second (and even 10) penalty. I'd make up my ground, come within striking range, and blow it all over again. This went on for the last 6-7 laps!

I'm learning it's important to stay on the tarmac. Duh.

Race Report / Results - Round 8 Monza (No Chicanes)
World Classics

1st - Lex Lathor - Shelby GT350
2nd - Flaco - Toyota 2000GT
3rd - Emotional Rekz - Ferrari 250 GT

World Classics Flaco Pole.jpg

Above - Through great driving Flaco put the Toyota 2000GT on pole despite having only 288bhp compared with the other cars 315bhp. Below, off the start the Toyota with 29kg of torque got swallowed up, but the late braking Flaco battled back. This picture and bottom Lex Lathor leads in GT350 wearing paint reminiscent of the famous Hertz Rent-a-Racers except on the Hertz cars the colour was black with gold stripes - in a brilliant marketing move, hertz bought 1000 GT350H cars - they became known as "Rent-a-Racers" because many customers hired them for the weekend, slapped numbers on the side and went racing!

Why do you want to end Cobra vs Corvette? These new series will require a lot of money... :(

Originally it was planned to use the Cobra Daytona Coupe from round 13 to round 24, but this car will now be an option in the main event championship to run from round 25 to 48. We are running cars at a different bhp and weight level which will give them a different feel and keep the racing fresh - the Cobra and Ferrari 250GT particularly have a different feel when running light and without ballast.

Re the 5 minutes practise time - apologies, this will be re-instated.

I also agree with the comment that the connection in the public room seemed better - the only slight problem was the entrance of uninvited people to the room at the start even though it said PRIVATE in the room title.

Re the length of the qualification period - we wont be increasing this beyond 6 minutes - it is a fine balance to complete 3 races in 2 hours and also have some practise and qualification time. The blue lines added by PD to the qualification are silly, daft and distracting, but at the moment we just have to live with them. It's important at long tracks like Nordschliefe and others to get going as soon as the qualification period starts otherwise waiting will lose you a lap or prevent you getting a time. I try to drive cautiously to get a clean first lap in, then go a bit faster on lap 2 and a bit faster on lap 3 etc.

I will try to open the public room half an hour early and with settings that will allow people to practise in any of the cars before we start the meeting proper - hopefully this will help.

This week we had IfAndOr and Birdseed missing. We are due hopefully to gain another racer who is a friend of Maximusmonster next week - if you have any clean driving friends who would like to race get them to send me an FR. Now that we are using a public room anyone entering the room who has not been invited / previously sent an FR will be kicked to prevent chaos.

This championship will have now 48 rounds? (Just making sure)

No - The World Classic Cars championship is 24 rounds and is supported by the One Make championship and the Cobra v Corvette Championship (rounds 1-12) which will be replaced by Cobra Ferrari Wars (rounds 13-24).

Originally I was going to start a new thread for the new championships which will start when the World Classic Cars finishes, but it may be best to keep the thread going and update it. the three new championships will each be for 24 rounds. I will post the car list in due course (after Cobra Ferrari Wars has started) so that people have plenty of time to buy the cars.

BSCC style (1960's) Saloons replaces the World Classic Cars.

One Make Championship will continue, but obviously with different cars.

Main event will be announced later!

For the sake of convenience I am referring to the new championships as from rounds 25-48 - this stops them getting confused with the cars we are using for rounds 1-24.

Ok folks here's a couple of pics from the 2nd race - server problems prevented me from entering the opening race in time :(

But we will have to increase qualification period for that track, right? Our cars can´t do the Ring in under 6 minutes.

No - the game measures how far you have travelled in the qualification time therefore it is not necessary to increase the qualification period to allow a complete lap - people just have to remember to accelerate as soon as the qualification period begins.

Amazing body roll on that first Countach shot ZuluWraith.

Harsk - the car list for weeks / rounds 25 to 48 will be unveiled in a few weeks time so people have plenty of time to get the cars. It is not a literal list because GT6 does not contain the right cars, but is made up of substitute cars which have been tested and found to produce similar lap times.
