CLASSIC RACING Sundays 17:00-19:00 GMT: "Ford Ferrari Wars" LEX CHAMP by 1 Point!Finished

Sorry for such late notification but gonna have to skip tonight as well. Family matters. Nothing serious but takes attention from racing.

Have a good one 👍

Fun races today, but I had one issue. The shortcut penalties were ridiculous at times, so I thought it should've been removed for this track at least. Also, they penalties didn't work in qualifiers, so in the race when you think you could take the same line you did in that it would give you a penalty . Other than that, everything was fine this week. (I'll just ignore the invisibility stuff :P)

I almost missed today as well. I had planned to wake up early and practice a little, and adjust the gearing and brake balance. I hadn't driven this track since the Senna tribute was released.

But instead, I heard a loud crash and chorus of car alarms about 5:50 am. Since I had four cars parked on the street, I bolted out of bed to find a rolled over pickup truck that had smashed two parked cars before rolling (not ours).

After helping to extricate the dumbass ("wait a minute, I have to find my cigarettes first"), I spent the morning talking to police and neighbors. Dude had a child seat in the truck, and we were looking for a kid! Fortunately, the dumbass was alone.

I got a penalty in the qualifier for the main race, but I agree the penalties did seem a bit harsh - I'm pretty sure they are on weak, but will check.

I think I discovered a new bug - I ran out of fuel in the Chaparral 2D and limped round almost a whole lap, then when I got in the pits I was trapped and couldn't leave the pits to continue racing.

I just need to remind Racers about letting faster cars through when being lapped - I was in a strong 3rd place - Smiley went through to lap the Category 2 Corvette in his Ferrari, but lacking his driving skills and daring I just couldn't get past and was losing 5 seconds a lap until probably preoccupied by trying to pass I ran out of fuel!

I'll post up the Race Report shortly.

Oh, that's odd. Maybe the penalties were lighter in qualifiers? or it just wasn't consistent... either that or I'm not very good at noticing it.

Yes, I had some green and blue cars cutting off my red car--and I was knocked off the track.

But I also think I neglected to recognize Lex's Jag soon enough to get out of his way. Sorry, Lex.

But the worst is Flaco!!! Every time I rammed him when we were on the grid counting cars, he head-butted me back!!! LOL

I let Smiley through but completely missed Lex coming through in his Jag...Sorry Lex. :dunce:
However i got punted off and then again by someone else next corner...not sure who...I'm sure it wasn't someone lapping me?:odd:

Anyway, I too competely ran out of fuel and went into the pit to get some but it wouldn't let me. Saw Sick stuck there but it didn't give me the option of refueling. :banghead: So began the limp home...which I never made.

Overall I had great fun and I think the racing was fair. Flaco overtook me every race and I couldn't do anything to stop him.

I think I spent the main FFW race running out of talent as I did in the Caterhams where I was so busy looking behind I forgot the corner ahead...DOH!!:dopey:

Thanks Sick for hosting. It seemed to go better this week.

I just thought you wouldn´t see me anyway.

When I eventually got the sound to work, today wasn't too bad.
In the FFW's I didn't bother qualifying in the 2D since it accelerates so slowly it's a bit of a hazard at the start. There was also the new bug in that I couldn't "see" Flaco or Sutsagrd, but I think they could see me. Because of this I drove around off line and quite slowly. So apologies if I made contact with either of you.

Yeah the penalties did seem a little harsh, but they were the same for everyone.

You need to pay that pit crew more Sick. ;)

You are awesome, Gentleman-driver! Fine move!

Although I was wondering how a 2D can be so slow, your driving was predictable there was no problem at all for me, we didn´t touch once. 👍

Hopefully those problems will be fixed, that we may all see each other on track like it is supposed to be.

Great pictures there IfAndOr!
I really enjoyed racing again last night. I finished on the podium! :)
I still need to work on my grid starts though, I either bump the back of someone (sorry Maxi) or brake early and get bumped myself. Guess I should improve my qualifying and starts.
I wish there were more offline races that had proper grid starts.
There was some very enjoyable and clean racing, especially with Flaco in the FFW's where he'd out manoeuvre me in the bends and then I'd pass him in my more powerful car on the straights and he'd draft me until the next corner.
Congratulations to BTH_pimiki, Smiley/OneRacer and Lex for their wins.
I'm looking forward to Spa already.
BTW did I mention that I got on a podium? :)

Lovely photos as always IfAndOr.

Tony BSCC stands for British Saloon Car Championship (currently known as BTCC).

Car of the week (Last Week!) - Aston Martin DB4GT Lightweight 1963
Only 75 DB4GT's were made of which only 6 were Lightweights - so even rarer than the Lightweight E Type (12 made) which would have been its competitor on track.

Track of the week - Lydden Hill
Very small, but perfectly formed - great for circuit racers and drifters and with a Rallycross layout used in the European Championships it is probably one of the best circuits for spectators in the UK.

Feature of the week - to be added

Everyone probably already knows but...

Update Details (1.13)

- Fixed an issue wherein engine and other sound effects were not being played correctly during online races.
- Fixed an issue wherein the game sometimes hung mainly during online races when there were 2 or more cars with additional meters equipped.
- Fixed an issue wherein it was not possible to download and playback replays from the Online Rankings board after entering an event.
- Fixed an issue wherein playing online race replays from the Gallery sometimes caused the game to hang.
- Fixed an issue wherein the "Client" system(s) sometimes hung when using the Multi-Monitor function in online races.

So looking good. 👍

However, there's no mention of any invisible car problems! Let's hope they have snuck that in there as well.

That's a shame that invisible car problems weren't fixed. I hope that they fix in next update.

Yeah. PD

*cough* any plans on starting a classic racing series on Pcars, anyone? *cough*

I had a look at the car list for Project Cars and at the moment it is a bit thin on classic cars - there are a handful including the "Red Sow" which I would love to drive, but not enough to run a series with variety. They have some exciting cars on their to do list such as the Lotus 40, which hopefully PD can bring us in the future.

News - it is with sadness that I announce that Bergele (Cu3e) will be leaving our race series in order to concentrate on his studies / career and also that Emotional Rekz will be taking a sabbatical. I am sure you will all join with me in wishing them all the best for the future. This means that we will have two vacant slots on the grid for Sunday's races which are open to the first Reserve Drivers to respond.

I have not had a chance to review the replays from last Sunday - hence no race report or photos yet. I know that at least one of the results needs checking as it showed Lex winning by 1 lap, but with second place a fraction of a second ahead of him!

Hopefully PD have fixed the online bugs - I expect that the sound problems have been fixed, but I am not sure about the pit stops. Some of you are more frequent racers than I and feedback from you would be welcome on this point. If you are still experiencing problems with pitstops online we can cancel them for the time being and adjust the fuel / tyre wear settings.

That's sad that Emo and Bergele will leave the championship. Well, did Emo have any problem?

I thought they had a bunch of classics, then again I never really look very deep into other games progresses. If there is a lack of comparable classed cars I will quickly lose interest no matter how great the physics and the sounds might be.

Sad indeed. Two great talents more are leaving the series, hope remains they will now be replaced accordingly and that we will soon see a comeback of the missing chaps, that includes Harsk aswell.

I actually barely do anything but this series races and the seasonals, but my hopes are not high for the pitstop bug to be gone. I´d love to be proven wrong here though. :)

Flaco, when I get a new PS3, I'll return for racing. Promise you all, Classic Racing! This lobby is Classic Racing number 1 for me! Good luck!

I will miss October 19, unless mother nature is adamant about keeping us off the lobster grounds. I'll confirm in a couple weeks.

For now, I'll see about preventing the Mk IV from spinning out at the bus stop.
