I would tend to side with Jedi here. It does not violate any specific, previously laid out rule that I see and I don't feel it goes against the spirit of the competition either. Obviously those that make the rules make the rules but my two cents says this one is OK. 👍

Thanks for the support :)

I understand your point. It's just a bit difficult to ban every individual filter you don't want to be used simply because there are so many of them, and they are not the same in every software. In GT4 comps the rules used to be written with Photoshop in mind and I don't think that's right. I'll talk about this with other comp hosts, it would be better to have a common policy.

Well, so what is it? Seeing as the deadline's on 17th, its no good telling me a few hours before it.

I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but I don't like the goalposts being moved in the middle of competition week.

thanks Fido! :)

You have to check out my last Gallery shot! You will be surprised, haha. :embarrassed::D

I don't see a problem with your entry seeing as this is a 2.0 competition and as far as I can see no rules have been infringed.
I think the effect used in your shot works well for what you say you were trying to achieve but probably brought the unwanted attention maybe because it lacked subtlety.... my guess anyway but all this might (rightly or wrongly) prejudice your shot for the poll. I believe its worthy to make it but the debate now hangs a cloud over it sadly.

enter your Secret Santa here before Sunday 12pm GMT

Your entry is legal. Wheter or not it goes to the poll is up to the judge of course. I'll try to figure out a wording for the rules for the next 2.0 week that would sort this thing. It's rather difficult though. The point is that you should use filters or tools that enhance the photo, not create effects that are not in the original (witht the exception of licence plates, rims and motion blur that are specifically allowed). That has always been the way in the 2.0 comps and should stay that way, for more advanced modifications there is the Photoshop comp. But how to make a waterproof rule out of this?

Well thank you. I don't care about the prejudice, it's the judge's problem.

Well that's settled. Thank you. I understand you are trying to prevent this from turning into another photoshop competition but the difference is that we can't add/remove objects in 2.0 comps. I think that's difference enough. If people have some idea about what they want to do with a pic with a little bit of blur/effects/colours here and there, it should be encouraged. Because quite frankly some of the background stuff in GT5 is plain retarded and editing is always necessary to make it perfect. Creativity and perfection should be encouraged.

But I'm fine with what the judges/comp hosts say but it should be spelled out explicitly in the rules so that any newcomer can start working on it straight away. I've only been active in this forum for 6 days so I don't know what has been going on here for the past few month or what things are 'understood'.

We had the same debate with the vintage photos. Maybe the rules need to be updated. I encourage this debate to be continued in the discussion forum. It would be nice to clarify what's allowed and what's not 👍

But strictly speaking, the rules do say what's allowed - and that particular filter is not mentioned I believe.

I had had ideas to do a couple shots like JediRage's but assumed that they were illegal because adding a texture or artistic effect is adding a shape to the image whereas motion blur is just blurring what's already there. If this is allowed great, it would be nice to clarify the rules so that everyone has the same tool set at their disposal.

Here we go! The best I could achieve in that short amount of time. Unfortunately I don´t have time tomorrow, otherwise I could do better... anyway, here´s my

Final Entry

Thought I'd give this a shot...I drifted the car in front of the sign for that extra special tire shredding look.

Final Entry

Blurred, Added noise, cropped, adjusted colors/contrast/brightness

Indeed it is so. But we'll continue this in the discussion thread later. Thank you for keeping a civil tone in the debate.

I have asked Gtuned for the Top 20, from this point on new entries may or may not be considered for the poll.
