Oh boy...seems like I have to fire up the engine again tonight and go for some serious drifting :dopey:

Until I redo some shots I made with an R8, this will be my placeholder...

Don't really get this one , does it fit with the theme?
and why do you need a placeholder?

@JediRage excellent pic 👍 Not sure if I should bother changing mine cos I have nothing to equal it + I can't drift worth a lick unless its unintentional :dopey::)

First question: Why should it not fit the theme? It´s a car drifting through the last corner of Tokyo R246.

Second question: I´m not sure yet, if this pic will remain as my final entry. I want to try something out, I have an idea, but I´m not sure if it works properly with another car... If 4WD cars had been allowed, I would have entered this one:

And that is also, what I want to try out with an RWD car...

I asked the question because I have a ton of pics near as you could get it identical to the one you entered.... not a drift amongst them, as your shot doesn't show that the car is doing that I just scratched my head when I saw it.

I hope you manage to achieve what you say your intending and I'm a little baffled as you are why it has to be R/W drive only?? Drifts a Drift regardless in my book and the your R8 shot wouldn't look out of place in this comp... Judges rules and so be it.

But the rules say clearly:

CARS: Rear-drive cars only (no FF or 4WD)

If the judge allowed me to use the R8, he would set a precedent and suspend the rules completely. Do you want him to do that?

Thanks. Put some low grip tyres on and practice. The judge has done well in insisting on RWD because they're easier to drift. I imagine there will be some understeer involved in using AWD and FF.

Not speaking on Dennis' behalf, just my own opinion; but it's just to make it interesting, I imagine. 4WD cars are easier to drift, and converting them to 90/10 splits makes them behave much like a rear-driver (oddly enough, the Tune Shop says a 100/0 split is possible, but it isn't), but it's not like we're limited on choices by ignoring 4WD cars. There are plenty of fun possibilities that don't have front-driven wheels 👍

No thats not what I was stating, once the rules are set they're set and I don't think the judge should let your R8 pic through after that fact. I was speaking retrospectively as to why that rule was in.

I also see your point SlipZtrEm but to a drifting noob :dunce: like myself I can make almost anything "drift" if it has any of the comfort spec tyres on it, whatever wheels its driving.

I don't disagree with the rules at all but I don't think it makes any advantage/dis-advantage to the likes of me lol.

Just a little tip for those struggling to get sideways, get the art Morrison corvette in the new dealership. It's a very friendly car to get sideways in without any tuning (use the stock tyres), also try to learn on short flat tracks, this will help you with technique :)

I have a whole gallery of drift shots with all sorts of cars, but I'll defo be shooting a new pic for this week!

I agree with you in a way. For me (and you should know why now) this rule is unnecessary. But the rules are the rules and I have to get along with the situation.

I'll drift anything I want to, so I'll drift a Kubelwagen. And yes, it is RR.

FINAL ENTRY

Yes, a drift is a drift, you can also make a FF car drift, but the "real" thing has to be done with rear wheels drive.
Check wikipedia for example:
Drifting refers to a driving technique and to a motorsport where the driver intentionally over steers, causing loss of traction in the rear wheels through turns, while maintaining vehicle control and a high exit speed

And I set the rules to RWD-only to keep it as 'real-life' as possible and to make it a little more interesting... :)

Indeed, putting some comfort-hard tyres on almost any RWD car will make you go drifting, don't expect much but you can make it work.

Also true, you can have as much fun drifting an AWD car as drifting one with RWD but it's the fine-tuning that gives the advantages to the cars with RWD.

Carry on guys !! Some really good entries out there :D

i don't know what to choose
Japanese or us or European cars ??
HELP ME GUYS
