Is it only me or are there more discussions about rules and cars allowed than pics in both PMC and 2.0 this week? :dunce:

2.0 is due to lack of engine knowledge, PMC is due to different opinions on what's a muscle car, or to whether it's a tuner or a race car :P

It was designed by and American though, just assembled in ireland.

That's like saying a Ford Crown Victoria is a Canadian car just because it was assembled in Ontario. It's still an American car. Just like the Delorean.

They were made in Ireland. It's an american company.

Founded in America, by an American.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeLorean_Motor_Company

It was DESIGNED by an Italian. And DeLorean wasn't American - he was half-Romanian, half-Austrian. If a dog gives birth in a horse stable, the offspring are NOT foals... They're pups.

Do Ford have factories in the USA? I'm guessing they do - I can't say for sure because I don't know. Probably loads. So of course having one of their cars assembled in another country isn't gonna change they are a USA company. But the main - and, er, ONLY - DeLorean factory was in Northern Ireland. This means it was a product of Northern Ireland. Manufactured, made, built by its residents.

What I see is, you're outnumbered in your thoughts of the DeLorean being American as opposed to Northern Irish - incidentally by a few Brits, who I would imagine know more about it as NI is part of Great Britain, as opposed to someone else hundreds upon hundreds of miles away from it. I understand your ignorance as you have to depend on the gospel of Wiki for all your knowledge (of course EVERYTHING on Wiki is 100% fact, how could it not be...) - unlike me who has lived within an hours drive of the DeLorean factory my entire life.

Anyway - one man along with a few bank loans and cash injections from friends isn't enough to start a car factory. Enter Northern Ireland who grant him the cash he needs. HURRAH! John has found the birthplace of his car. Oh, but wait - there is a clause before a deal can be struck. NI and all its money demands that they are the full owners of everything to do with the car - the company they put so much money into is theirs and theirs alone, but agreeing that John DeLorean is the only person on the planet that is allowed to buy the cars. John agrees, wanting his dream made a reality, and two separate companies are formed - DMC based in the USA which comprises of John as a sole trader (read customer) and then DMC Ltd as a limited company (obviously) with it predominantly owned by the NI grant board as the major shareholder, based in Northern Ireland. So the DeLorean IS a Northern Irish car - the deal meant the American DMC was only a mere customer to the Northern Irish company.

Don't bother looking for THAT information on your BFF Wiki because you won't find it.

Apologies to Slipz and Nads and all the photo-people for going off topic but this will be the last post in this little debate. Mainly because any reponse would be quite foolish...

Phew... that was my first entry ever yesterday. Not expecting too many votes...

Plus, it looks way better in full....

If you're talking about the V6 versions of mustangs chargers etc... those aren't muscle cars. They're posers. ;)

O/T I don't know that applies anymore. My father's 98 Z/28 had some 340hp after the flowmasters went on, and now the base 2012 Camaro LS is listed at 323hp...and...I kind of like the high-strung wail of the new Chevy V6, especially with aftermarket pipes!
