Official CM Statement:

"We have a planned press announcement to be released soon confirming dates for all skus, hence the lack of info on this forum. There have been no delays and our dates are as they were when we finished our detailed design and planning dev phase some time ago. This doesn't mean they tie into the speculation about dates on this forum of course... speculation is just that after all..."

So I suppose that's good news?
Can we get our hopes up for GDC to find out some real news?

Depends... for those worried that the game is being rushed, and that it is using the same physics engine from DiRT & GRiD... I suspect a longer development time would have helped easy some concerns. :indiff:

I'm not too worried about it not being a sim. They have said several times that they are creating it as a full on sim even with those engines and have said that those games were never designed to be sims.

"Just wanted to give you guys/gals on the forum a heads-up that we are going to be making an F1 announcement very soon, and that you should keep an eye on these forums and the internet gaming press over the coming few days.

We're aware that there has been a lot of speculation recently regarding the release dates and also the platforms for the upcoming F1 game, and this announcement should clear things up for you all."

Sorry if you took me up wrong Appie, I meant to say that in a sort of humorous way. Of course we shouldnt take peoples word all the time and that type of news should be posted with a link.
It was a bad joke, not helped by my terrible grammar in said post. :dunce:

not ego, but when you catch as much flack as i did [about the FFB on F1CE], then it turns out 100% true, you tend not to forget it :)

I was just having a bit of fun, just to make that clear.

Its always nice to get a dig at Schumacher, oh look another Williams to crash into....

F1 for 360/PS3 in 2010

"Realistic weather, accurate damage and fully customisable race strategy all feed into the game's realism, but the authenticity is also going to manifest itself in some more novel ways. Instead of delivering a slavish recreation of the television coverage, the game's aim is instead to mimic the driver's experience on a race weekend. That means no sassy remarks from Brundle or Legard, but instead commentary will come from the pit crew themselves – and some of F1's unsung stars could be playing a part. Rob Smedley, Felipe Massa's race engineer who's become a vocal presence in coverage of the sport over the past few years, has expressed an interest in lending his Northern tones to the game, as have several other notable Formula 1 personnel."

"The scale of development that was required for the next-gen projects, especially with something like Formula 1, to do it on such a massive high-def scale requires a lot more development time than less powerful platforms like the PSP and Wii," admits brand manager Paul Walters on the choice made by Codemasters.

Somehow I think that Formula One Championship Edition game for PS3 - at time praised as "hardest platform to develop for EVA" was released at the first day of PS3 sales in PAL (February 2007 if I remeber well, AKA more than 2 years ago).

It's nice to see Codemasters have the propper knowledge to handle everything necessary for "propper" F1 game that Studio Liverpool couldn't. Only problem is that I can't think of one single element that lacked form F1CE game after FF patch has been done.

No, I can remeber one - yellow filter. Oh, stupid me..

This has made me sad, what a horrible start to a day.

Back to F1CE then, will be getting the PSP version though.

1: What formats will you be releasing the F1 Game on?
Wii/PSP - Autumn 2009
PC/PS3/Xbox360 - Mid 2010

2: What season Data will the game use?
Wii/PSP - 2009
PC/PS3/Xbox360 - TBC

F1 for 360/PS3 in 2010

I see this as excellent and promising news... as it not only will give them adequate time to create a really impressive game, but it will be nice to have an F1 game available at the beginning of the F1 season.

This game just got bumped higher on my anticipated wish list. 👍

The one downside though... if GT5 comes out before it, why do I get the feeling this game is going to be largely ignored by most PS3 users. :indiff:

It's not a biggie. It's not like we're starve fed on great F1 games. With F1CE and several great F1 mods at rFactor, it's no catastrophy if this game doesn't come out strong or late. The stakes where higher with MotoGP 08 (which turned out to be a slight letdown in the end).

Well, if you only own a 360 it is I suppose.

CM:

"The PSP and Wii versions of the game due for release later this year are being developed by an external studio. The next gen versions due for release next year are currently in developement at our internal racing studios."

CM:

"Hi all,

Following on from this mornings announcement, I've noticed quite a few questions on these forums regarding whether the next gen versions of the game being released in mid-2010 will be based on the 2009 or 2010 seasons.

I'm pleased to be able to confirm that after speaking to the dev team and raising your questions and concerns with them that the 2009 Wii & PSP versions of the game will be based on the 2009 season, and that the next-gen versions of the game coming in mid-2010 will be based on 2010 season data."

this now is a major change from the initial FAQ of "based on season 2009" but at least we now know that something must have changed.
