Great game, the handling and controls reminds me soo much of NFScarbon lol, now I just have to learn the tracks and don't bother about controllability, before going online. đź‘Ť
Man, with NFSshift releasing tomorrow I won't have much money left at the end of the month! :P

And no, I'm not kidding the controls / handling seems just about perfect I love using shoulder buttons for accelerate, brake when it's programmed properly.

I'm not sure what Carbon you played, Carbon was pretty woeful and Dirt 2 feels a million times better to me.

Hmm, I don't know carbon was a bit dodgy ok ,but what I mean is the way you can control your car in Dirt2 feels like coming home for me. Just like NFScarbon where I was hotlapping a LOT and therefore know how that felt :)
It really weird I happily admit, but it remind me so much I can't stop smiling when playing Dirt2 xD

Edit: carbon only felt good when you had a perfect tune, which was really abnormal ( like stock gears on some cars ) ;)

I'm not going to take that for a second, I think to compare Dirt 2 to Carbon in this way is insulting to D2. Carbon was functional, but the cars felt stupid at times.

Yeah, I agree about the cars felt stupid at times, e.g. the EVO felt great, but it just was too slow to be competetive... took me nearly two years to figure that one out. :dunce:

I think you can't really compare the two games as far as conception, tuning, gameplay, etc goes. I jus said it reminds me a lot in aspects how the cars feel. Didn't want to insult anyone.
:)

I really like the game so far, I think I'm at level 13 or something. I'm using a new STI for my rally car and it's doing pretty well. I haven't ventured online yet but I'd be willing to give it a go. Any of you can add my PSN name, it's GTP_Joey.

Anyone know of a complete car list for this game?

I know of the prize cars, because I think I've won them all. They are the only ones not visible from the start of the game.

Dallenbach Special
Ford Escort MKII
1995 Subaru Impreza WRX STI
1993(I think?) Mitsubishi Pajero Rally
Toyota Stadium Truck
Ford RS2000
MG Metro 6R4
Subaru WRX STI [X]
Mitsubishi Evo 10 [X]
Colin McRae R4 [X]

I'm pretty sure that is every prize car. If I've missed any it's proabably because I've forgotten them. Oh and the [X] means X-Games Edition.

Trailblazer races are by far my favourite events, I love the speed, wide open track and the way the cars look with their huge fender flares and oversized spoilers.

I'm about 25% of the way through the game and loving every minute of game play, this is probably one of the most fun racing games I have ever played. I'm glad I purchased it.

Agreed. What's even more fun is taking a trailblazer car out on a rally course for time trials. Or a trophy truck.:dopey: You have to be VERY smooth or you WILL hit something.

I hit level 50 tonight. Wish there was another unlockable for that achievement.:guilty:

Edit: Anyone else having trouble getting the ghost replays to load from the DiRT servers? 90% of the time when I start a time trial, it tries to load the world record ghost replay and fails.

Same here. Most fun I've had in a long time.

I looove the Trailbrazer races but the Raid events with the trucks is probably my favorite right now. Love "the bouncy trucks." I find it very hard not to go flying off into a telephone pole or off a cliff. It's just so rugged and rough. It's really bad ass.

I think the balance between realism and fun is spot on perfect in this game.

i'm only up to level 15. I'm really a terrible driver in this game...getting better.

Yeah, having a lot of trouble but they sometimes load OK.

The Raid races are cool but anything to requires me to use a buggy is awful, I can't seem to figure out how to properly drive them without spinning out or just being to slow to win.

I hope there ends up being some good DLC for this game.

I don't like the buggies that much but I find they can be controlled quite easily, you just need to be careful how much sideways action you get. Trailblazer is definately the best event in the game. The cars look awesome and the events are fast and fun. I'm currently level 42 offline and 19 online.

Does anyone know what the packs are in the extras menu that are greyed out under the Playstation Store option? I can only guess they are DLCs that have been already planned.

I finished all the race on single player a couple days ago. It was quite boring since the last awards you get are around level 30 and I am at level 70 now. The hidden cars are cool although once you get them the fun is over. Now all I have to do is go online and hope that picks up a little bit. I like to race the single race, like rally, but every room only has around 8 people. I guess I should try the crazy stuff today.

This game is awesome. The only thing I don't like is that I can't race online in cockpit view mode. Since I use it, everyone else has an unfair advantage with their trail cams.

Does anyone know how to obtain the Evo X [X] ?
(I have completed all the X games but not yet unlocked this car.)

I'm still loving this game, I'm only at level 21 but it's still very exciting. I too can't seem to drive the buggies properly, they either spin out, over rev or just don't go as fast as the others. The Raid races are awesome but I think my favourite event is the Rally in Malaysia. The amount of puddles and shrubbery make it immense and the way the car looks when coated in mud is great!

To me my favorite race has to be the full 4 mile Croatia Rally stage. Loose gravel, fast flowing straights and sweepers, and a variety of great corners is just awesome. I have been spending the last few days on Need for Speed: Shift because I just got it but in the week prior to that I made it to level 43 and the whole way had a great time. đź‘Ť

It's a prize for completiton of X-Games Asia. I can't think of why you don't have it though, try doing that X-Games again and see if you obtain it this time. Make sure you win every race in it and you should definately get the car.

Oh and it comes as a complete different car, maybe you missed it going through the car selection screen.

Thanks, found it in the Trailblazer catagory (was looking in Rally).

edit: just tried it out for the silver Trophy, but I think its back to the Wally now...

I don't get how some people are at level 60 or 70 already. The game hasn't been out that long.

What difficulty are you guys using? I play on Serious.

I'm at level 16 but I think I've played this game a lot since it came out. I guess I played a lot of online races. Came in dead last in most.

Tried online for the first time tonight. Enough to get to level 7 there. Out of all the races (maybe 10-12) I only lost three of them. I quit because they kept picking the Utah course and I got tired of it.

I must admit, I played through on easy first and it was way to easy. Now I am going to do it all again on the higher levels.

I've been playing it on easy and I'll probably go for some higher levels as it is extremely simple at the moment, I've not actually lost a single Dirt Tour Race yet, that's how easy it is.

Erm you can race online in cockpit view. I use it all the time in the Dallenbach Special. You can't spectate in cockpit view though.

Read my post again. I said you can't use it because of the water-blindness that other players don't get when using other views. And speaking of cockpit views, the RHD cars are soooo strange for me.

Can we start a lap recordbook for GTP?

I play with two flashbacks (Savage) and the All-Star level of races is pretty challenging. Tanner Foust really knows how to haul ass in a Mexican riverbed (the rally, lol).

edit: Also, I just got the Escort and my god is it fun!

The key to the buggies is minimal steering movement, and to be precise with the throttle. You sort of glide them round the track, making tiny turns and using 3/4 or 1/2 throttle for corners depending on the severity. There are only one or two corners on any of the buggy tracks which actually need you to brake. This way you keep your speed up nicely and shoot round the track.

Oh, and make ABSOLUTELY sure you line up the jumps right.

I tend to need 1-2 laps to get my buggy control again after any other form of racing, but once I do I really like them.
