Hi guys
Do either of the first Dirt or he second one have handling anything like Colin Mcrally 3 or Colin Mcrally 2005?

Unfortunately, no:tdown:. I agree, brilliant games, but Richard Burns Rally still is the best:tup:

Awwwww :(
They should just use the physics from either of those games and the graphics from Dirt... would be legendary :D
I don't have RBR... :scared:
Thanks

I'm in the U.S. so I didn't have the demo for the ps3. I downloaded it for the 360, and it was alright with the 360 wheel. Wasn't sure if I was going to get it or not. Yesterday I heard the U.K. store had the demo in it, so I made a U.K. account and downloaded it. A whole different game when I could use the G25 with it. I liked it much more with a quality wheel, and now it's a definite buy for me.
One more game that showed just how crappy the M$ wheel is.

I'm in 2 minds, the wheel definatly brings it alive but I'm prety sure mt DF-GT will be in bits after a few hours, along with my arms LOL Fantastic step up from the original but with so many other great driving titles hitting the shelves I think I'll leave this one as I won't be able to give it the time it needs plus my wheel won't last the full game I fear LOL

I played the demo with G25 and I din't liked it. They improved physics because there is some oversteer, but for me they are not great. For my point of view it's worse than Dirt 1, because it looks a game for kids. The game doesn't represent what a rally is.

For my point of view, best rally game at the moment is Richard Burns Rally. It was released in 2004. We are in 2009 and no other game has managed to be better. That's sad. Hope GT5 will shows what a rally is, like in Richard Burns Rally.

I guess I'm in the minority of people who love the way D2 feels. I have Dirt 1, and enjoy playing it once in a while. But the new handling physics, although not totally sim worthy, are MUCH better than D1. The cars actually feel like they have some weight to them. Now, I'm playing with a Sixaxis so my opinion might now matter much to the G25 players. This game is a definite buy for me.

Well, gave Dirt2 demo a try. It's been a while since I played Dirt1 demo (never got the full game), so could be an improvement over Dirt 1, but still very arcadey I'm afraid. And the voice-overs/commentary is a bit annoying - emphasis is on the "game" rather than the "driving". :indiff:

I will say one thing: racing those Ickler thingys with a Buttkicker hooked up is an amazingly physical experience. :D

Dirt 2 feels very much like earlier Colin McRae games, I found it very enjoyable, unlike Dirt 1 which I thought was terrible.

As for the car, it's worth pointing out it's a very powerful hillclimb like car, not a regular rallycar, they're a seperate class.

D2's handling does feel great, the people who say's its too arcadey are just stroking their sim-ego's...

I'm not sure what you mean by this?

It's true that there is a little oversteer & understeer possible, but (unless I'm missing the "Pro" or "Simulation" setting in Options), I would say it's almost impossible to lose control of the car no matter how fast you drive. I'm not saying it couldn't be a fun game to play, but it's definitely a long way from having anything like "sim" physics.

the only thing I don't like about this demo handling is that it sees the g25 as a 180 deg wheel which makes the steering kinda messy and overly sensitive. And its also why its makes correcting the back sliding out so easy.

anyway, the PC version is probably the only option to gets some decent steering out of this.

You are so wrong.. I say it feels too arcadey because it is a arcade game. I dont have a problem with people who like arcade games, but personally i dont enjoy it. I like driving games who needs carefull throttle, wheel and braking control, something i cant say about D2.

Curse all of you, yesterday i was all over the PSN looking for the demo to try with the G25 till i googled and saw it was only for the European market. I know i could create a EU account, but i can wait. From the comments here, it sounds like fun, but nothing great. I am more of a Sim-racer myself, but there are a few arcadey driving games that are fun. :)👍

[edit]-Is there a setting/option to set the G25 wheel to 900* like in Grid? If not i won't even bother getting the Demo.

Had another go at this last night. I'm not sure that the physics are any better than the old Xbox game RalliSport Challenge 2, (which was a great arcade rally game with superb graphics -TOD, weather effects, very detailed replay options etc.) & I'm pretty sure the physics in CM2005 were significantly less arcadey than DIRT 2.

If you play the game with a "be smooth" attitude, all of these things are required to play as far as I could tell.

Played it again a couple times last night, this time in the cockpit view. Needless to say, the first time I went through a water hole I almost wiped out cause I couldn't see where I was going.

I know, everyone said the water looked so good so the first one I hit I was more focused on the water and how it moved more then where I was on the road . I don't know if this was posted but when you hit those random piles of rocks on the Moroccan stage, they go all over, I thought it was cool. And whats the deal with the horn? Will it play a role in the full game?

Must be a total noob because I can't find the demo even after creating the UK account ... linkage please?

EDIT friend Sureshot helped me out by indicating to look under "Colin" in the PS3 shop. Thanks!

Next issue - how do I get the DFGT to work? So far I only found out how to use the DS3.

I was playing this last night. I like it a lot, it feels, and looks better than the first dirt. Online is much improved as well. My only complaint is that people in the CORR race try to win by ramming you, and not actually driving. Id also like some more cars. The original had a very good selection in my opinion.

I tried the Demo and I quite LOVE this Game.. its the best ive seen so far in terms of presentation, water physics and effects, nice speed feeling, nice tracks and cars and damage is perfect too.. didnt try online but even for single player a must-have.. until GT5 ;) BTW: if you want the latest news and trailers for any game, try GAMETRAILERS im lookin there 15 times a day for any new vids and infos.. just try-->

Managed to run a 3:02.86 on Morroco, I swear I must have almost pushed the car (and myself) to its limit. I've already shaved about 5 seconds off my previous time of 3:07. I'm getting there, but I'm nowhere near as quick as I want to be.

Can you take the demo online? I haven't seen any options to race online. If I'm missing something someone point me in the right direction.

I don't really like how this is wanting to go all mainstream and crap with the faddish menu's and whatever.. But the gameplay was decent. I got a time of 3:10.something on Morocco with the Eclipse. The cockpit view on this game isn't that good for me. I can barely drive with that view on.

Yup you can, if you look in the caravan/trailer to the left of the "Dirt Tour" it should be there, its on a board. It's pretty good online actually. 👍

I've managed to work out what I was missing on the Baja race now, I can manage a lap a shade under 58 seconds at best. These physics gel with me perfectly, I'm not sure why but being able to be so fluent is fun.

If you press the PS button on you joypad during a full replay, you can use the PS3 screen shot feature. Save Screenshot is under the Photo tab on your XMB.
