Another way to see if its AWD is to pause the repaly right at the start and go as slow as you can and watch them spin. Thats what I did and it looks AWD but biased more toward the front.

I could not wait for the US demo, so i got the EU one.

looks really good. Tried it on the highest difficulty and i think they now have the steering right ( I could only play the dirt1 on a controller, steering wheel play was poor ).

It's hard to drive, but once you get the feel, the right speed, it awesome :). Could not win a single race, but it was great!

i think it's yet another game to get :)

My fastest time is 2.59, but I really don't like these stages were so many shortcuts are possible, I'll wait for the full game and the real rally stages, without ridiculous shortcuts.

The fastest times are in the 2.4X's.

Those times can't be achieved by driving in anything like a realistic manner.

By comparison I can get within 3 seconds of any given top 10 time in Gran Turismo within 15 minutes.

Played the demo and its got to have the best looking environments ive ever seen on a console game. Its certianly tops GT5's trackside objects and scenery (especially in the Tree dept). 👍

Robin.

I like it. Must admit though i figured they were taking more of a NFS: Pro street direction with all the adverts all over the place and that for me is lame.

The car selection too is strange. An Eclipse rally car? a 350z? All that aside i found the game very fun an will definitley purchase. This should suffice until GT5 is released. (IF)

The fastest I know of is infact a 2:51, taking cuts, I myself have done a 2:55 following what would be a legitimate line (2 wheels on the track at least).

The demo does not seem to save to disk, i mean you'll win money in races but when you quit the game and start it up again it's back to 0. Is this true for everyone or is it just me?

It's true, although you can't buy anything all you get is fluffy dice so it's not to important.

There's an official competition and the quickest time is 2.44, though all you need to do is post a screenshot of your time. IMO to set that time you need to cut the track massively or find a glitch were you can cut/jump corners.

I've now set a 2.58.40 but can see were I could gain 3-4 seconds through better lines and traction out of corners.

2:44? The 2:51 set by Codies had some ridiculous shortcuts to me, I can't even imaging the cuts taken for a 2:44 thats outrageous and I bet the car had bent bodywork all over the front from the bushes. The problem is if they blocked off the cuts it would feel stupid hitting like an indestructable fence. There's not alot codies can do to stop it except implement penalties in a GT like manor.

I feel horrible, guys. I can barely manage 3:25 using my DFGT and the in car view. I guess that's what I get for playing tarmac based sims.

But still, it's really fun.

3:21 second attempt after tweaking the DFP. I dont care for times at this point I'm loving this demo experience and I know that I will be getting this when it comes out next week!

I can get into the 3:03.xxx area if I get a good clean run. I went down to GameStop yesterday and laid down a reservation. :)

my fastest time on the 360 is 3:14 with the M$ wheel, but on the ps3 with the g25 I think it was around 3:08. I haven't tried to find any short cuts so I'm assuming they were clean runs. my 3:08 run seemed pretty good, but I seen lots of places where I could have shaved off time.

I got a 3:00.xx with some mistakes (ds3). I believe that I can get it under 3 minutes, but 2:55.xx? Probably too fast for me :)

Hmm, I guess I need to take my words back. Last week I did some runs and I got 2:56.60 and still not a clean drive. No ridiculous shortcuts either, just normal rallying cutting.

I wonder how the rallying part is in this game, too bad it isn't included in the demo. I guess this trailblazer is something they do in the US. Rally and rallycross are the parts I'm looking forward, this trailblazer seems ok too.

Looking at the times here I trust them more than the ones from the official competition, I also know people on here will drive in a realistic manner, rather than treating it as a Wipeout stage.

dragonistic, what view do you use wwhen getting those great times?

Bonnet view is best for learning the stage, then you can set similar times in-car.

It's also worth viewing a few Youtube videos from quick drivers as some of the lines taken are unconventional.

PS, sliding is often not the quickest way, try to maintain traction and drive through a corner, even if it means going into the corner a little slower.

Plug your G25 into USB port 1 and set your sixaxis to controller slot 1 by holding down the PS button and going into controller settings.

Ahhh, thank you--exactly what I was looking for. 👍

Chase on the sixaxis which set those times, then I use cockpit for my G25. Applies to all games, I use chase to help me see other racers around me like on GT, so I don't cut them up unfairly, but with the wheel i can't resist cockpit. Unfortunately Dirt didn't feel quite right for me on G25, so I stick to sixaxis but it's still alot of fun.

according to IGN review, rally races only take about 20% of the game. this is indeed very disappointing.
I couldn't agree more. And I enjoy point to point races more than anything. I also don't like the need for speedish presentation with "cool" people and "cool" themes. Less trendy more rally ftw
