I couldn't agree more. And I enjoy point to point races more than anything. I also don't like the need for speedish presentation with "cool" people and "cool" themes. Less trendy more rally ftw

That is excatly what i thought when i played the demo and to hear that it is only 20% of the game scary. Dirt is really the only Rally game i know of in the states and now that it really not point to point rally I guess all i have to look forward too is WRC in GT 5

Dirt isnt and never was a true "rally" game. Its just a compilation of off road racing of many disciples. I dont mind the presentation and its no where near what Need for speed is/was. Its seems to be a good game regardless. If you dont see the game for what it is you probably won't like it.

I know it wasn't, but it was never this bad either. It really the only rally series left that involves rally. Other then GT5 I like all forms of off road racing.

I'm loving this game. I hated the original Dirt but I'm hooked on this. It plays great with the old DFP.

It's hard to play GT5 and bump into things all over the place in London without damage after playing Dirt 2 demo.

The crashing is FUN in Dirt 2. That last turn in Trailbrazer has flipped me so many times.

Hey, do you need to use the handbrake to get good times? What about drifting the hairpins?

Do the different difficulty levels change the driving physics?

My best time is a very lame 3:21...but I'm really good at crashing :)

Its not Colin McRae Rally, its Dirt. the same as Grid is not Race Driver. These games have there own purpose. Its not a bad game either, its bad to those who don't see the game for what it and who it appeals too. Grid is the same way, many people hated it not because its a bad game but because its not what "they" want it to be. I liked grid and dirt. Rally racing is fun, i miss the good old days of rally games. But at the same time I can still enjoy other form of off road racing.

I'm thinking I *may* rent this before I dive into the $50+ purchase. Just in case...

Same here. It's really fun at Morocco, but I'm leaning more towards NFS: Shift right now. But I'm still very new to the whole Dirt game. Never played the first one and I'm kinda skeptical about actually buying it.

I didn't Like the original Dirt as it stepped to far away from actual Rally and the WRC and added too many events. To top it all off I hate Codies interfaces of getting into a race. But saying that Rigging up the G25 and playing the demo I really liked Dirt 2. On the DS3 its rubbish the cars are too light and not a fun as MS but on the wheel its great.

i finally got the demo on psn and played it with my G25 a few times, i was already fast with the wheel my 2nd-3rd run, but best i could do was 3.07+. Definitely a few spots to cut down time. Just wish the CLUTCH worked and i could set the wheel to 900*. I will wait for gamefly to send it out, don't think i will be purchasing it (brand new anyways). :)👍

I use the wheel, too. I just feel like I'm going to break it because of the lack of 900 degrees. I mean, there's no excuse for a new racing game to not support a full 900 degree with clutch. Even though it says clutch in the options menu.

I'm not sure but I was under the impression that it was 900 degrees. I would have to check tho.

I played the demo quite a bit with my g25 and yes it's annoying. As I've read only 20% of the game is actually rally racing so I won't get it :(

Anybody down to race online?

I played against ANFD a couple days ago, provided a good hours worth of entertainment. until we got to Baja. Ugh. What a buzz kill. Flatout through the whole track except the last corner kinda kills the coolness.

And if 20% of the game is rally, whats the other 80%? Asphalt?

I rushed out to Best Buy straight from work like a kid on Christmas morning. "Sorry, we don't have it yet."

WTF? I thought it was supposed to be released today.

Went to Best Buy and Toys 'R US and came home empty handed.

It ships today. I figured that out about five minutes before I left . My dad is picking it up tomorrow while I'm at school.

Yeah, comes out tomorrow. I'm going to swing by blockbuster on my way home from work to rent it. Hopefully they have more than one copy.

yeah i pre-ordered it a couple months ago. It sucks i have class 1-6pm so i am probably not going to pick it up till my break and not get to play till after class....

what a great game, been playing the **** out of it.
minor complaint is navigating the menus, a like a more simple, quick type. Colin McRae Dirt 2, more like Dave Mirra Dirt..

That's because its not Colin McRae Dirt 2, in the states it's just Dirt 2. complaint eviscerated.

The games pretty fun. It really is focused around Mirra and Block. A cool thing I found was tire deformation.

as soon as the local Blockbuster has it imma pick it up (rent). Currently pwning GRID atm, never even played the original DIRT, but i hear dirt 2 will be insane

true true :)
The graphics are amazing, I'm surprised that this gen has more to deliver. I thought the xbox was tapped out, but this is a new level of graphic fidelity to behold. I now believe all the NFS shift videos.
The gameplay is great, Ive been playing with a wheel so I cannot comment how it differs from dirt, since I played it with a pad. But it feels great!

I'm really struggling....especially on the hairpins.

Do the physics change based on difficulty? I want to drop the difficulty but I'm afraid it will effect the physics.

Should I do the hairpins using a perfect racing line like GT5P or do I need to drift?

If drift then should I use the ebrake?

only way around hairpins so far is to use the brake and take the turn without going too fast... if I try to drift around it [hairpin] the car gets sideways but keeps going in the same direction.
