Tell you what, D3ATHS1NBUNCH3S, this is a big game for the Mountaineers. I somewhat like West Virginia's chances taking on K-State. Really, it's going to be a heck of a quarterback duel. Maybe not a college version of (and I'm just name-dropping two QBs) Joe Montana vs. John Elway, but two doggone good Big XII QBs. It's tough to play at West Virginia. This one might be an upset.

Scary thing is, in '07 and this year after the first loss, each time we fell to #13. We somehow got back up to #2 when our toughest opponent was #20 UConn, but we face #4 K-State and #8 (?) Oklahoma. If we win out, with help, I think we have a moderately good shot at a National Title.

Double post, sorry.

D3ATHS, I wish you luck the remainder of the season.
Looking at your schedule (remaining games) :

Kansas State
TCU
Oklahoma State
Oklahoma Sooners
Iowa State
Kansas

I'm just being honest here on my thoughts. I see only 2 hurdles you'll have to get over. Kansas State and Oklahoma. If Geno performs, W.Va. wins. There is enough firepower in that offense to run with the best of them. You beat those two, the rest should be a downhill slide. Best of luck and hope to see you at the top my friend.

Thanks. I think a win vs. K-State would shoot us up to #9, a blowout win (28+) would raise us to #7. If that indeed happens, we're back where we were before Texas: Low Top 10, hoping for some losses above us.

Should be a fun second half.

I had a chance to see the video of LaMichael Fanning's suplex of that poor Missouri Tiger player. Wow... that has to be a suspension. I even saw the stats on Alabama's DL after that suplex. L. Fanning goes 6'7" at 298 lbs. I'm sure he'll have a future in pro wrestling if he doesn't want to go to the NFL. The WWE already has former Florida Gator, Titus O' Neil. Why not another SEC football player be a wrestling beast?

That said- that is a dangerous takedown. Even with all the protection football players have, that is incredibly dangerous. I think I heard on ESPN's "Pardon the Interruption" about how LaMichael Fanning was directed by Nick Saban to write apology letters to the guy he suplexed and the Missouri coach. Many people were wondering if Fanning really needed to apologize. Considering the current climate of injuries in sports, this is pretty much a huge deal. I do like hard hits, but that was super scary. Almost like something you'd expect to see in the NFL Blitz games. Only... this is college football.

Here's a better video I found of that suplex, with audio:

Speaking of long term football injuries, I wonder how Eric LeGrand is doing? I noticed that all the names on the back of Rutgers' jerseys in a game a couple weeks back said: "B.E.L.I.E.V.E.".

Pretty heartwarming.

Anywho, NEW BCS bowl predictions!

BCS National Championship Game - Pac 12 Champion (Oregon) vs. SEC Champion (Alabama)

The matchup is all about Bama's D vs. Oregon's O, a matchup of two of the best on their respective sides of the ball.

Face it, Bama. You can't stop De'Anthony Thomas. You can't. So, when they do pass the ball, play tight man/zone coverage annd get turnovers on the pass. You will be able to get the ball to McCarron and have him create something.

But like I said, "DAT" is unstoppable. Oregon wins.

Oregon 42 - Alabama 27
MVP: De'Anthony Thomas, RB, Oregon

Fiesta Bowl - Big 12 Champion (Kansas State) vs. At-Large (Notre Dame)

Well, well, well, you expected WVU at this spot, didn't you? Well, I think they lose the game and K-State wins the conference title. Like Bama-Oreg, it's Collin Klein vs. Manti Te'o. Thing is, ND's secondary is pretty good, too. Then again, ND has no QB. =P

It will be a defensive battle. I think Te'o outperforms K-State LB Arthur Brown, but not Klein. Klein rushes in for a TD in the final minute to win.

Kansas State 24 - Notre Dame 17
MVP: Collin Klein, QB, Kansas State

Rose Bowl - Big 10 Champion (Northwestern) vs. At-Large (USC)

"What?! NORTHWESTERN IN THE ROSE BOWL? You gotta be kidding!"

It seems like I am, and I wish I was. Ohio State would've been put in this spot, but can't because of Terelle Pryor, and what the hell is going on in Ann Arbor? Northwestern, motivated by their first opportunity for a BCS bowl in god knows how long, win the conference in a sad year for the Big 10. Too bad they are playing USC, in Pasadena, in Matt Barkley's final game...

USC 45 - Northwestern 21
MVP: Matt Barkley, QB, USC

Orange Bowl - ACC Champion (Florida State) vs. Big East Champion (Rutgers)

Rutgers is on a motivational high at the moment. This season has been dedicated to LeGrand, which it should be, and I don't blame them. Florida State sees Rutgers as that pesky little fly that they want Chief Osceola to spear. Florida State has to be careful: Rutgers is nearly identical to NC State, added with enormous amounts of motivation. Florida State can easily win as easily as they can lose. Florida State manages to pull it out, but not by much.

Florida State 30 Rutgers 24
MVP: E.J. Manuel, QB, Florida State

Sugar Bowl - At-Large (Florida) vs. At-Large (Oklahoma)

Both of these teams are scary. Florida's D can chomp you if you aren't careful. Question is, can Landry Jones keep poised throughout the game, even with limited receiving corps? It's the "Bradford protege's" time to step up. And he delivers in fantastic fashion.

Oklahoma 34 - Florida 24
MVP: Landry Jones, QB, Oklahoma

Notable Schools Left Out: Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, West Virginia, Oregon State

My Projected All-Americans (Minus linemen and kickers)

QB Geno Smith, West Virginia, Sr.
RB De'Anthony Thomas, Oregon, So.
RB Marcus Lattimore, South Carolina, Jr.
WR Robert Woods, USC, Sr.
WR Sammy Watkins, Clemson, Sr.
TE Tyler Eifert, Notre Dame, Sr.
DE Jadeavon Clowney, South Carolina, So.
DT Star Lutolelei, Utah, Sr.
OLB Jarvis Jones, Georgia, Jr.
ILB Manti Te'o, Notre Dame, Sr.
CB David Amerson, NC State, Sr.
S Eric Reid, LSU, Sr.
Return Man De'Anthony Thomas, Oregon, So.

I'm looking at this one differently. (wishing it would be OSU :guilty:)

The Big 10 Championship game will come down to Michigan (Legends Division) -vs- Wisconsin (Leaders Division). Both of these teams have a legitimate shot at running out the table. Yes, that includes beating the Buckeyes. Michigan is playing some serious ball up there in Ann Arbor. Wisconsin has finally woken up after some early season doubts. I really can't see anyone getting in their way. Michigan will square off against Wisconsin and at the end of it all and they will be smelling roses. They will go on to play USC ... Robinson will roll over USC in his final game as a Senior. (just my opinion).

Northwestern, for the 1st time since 2K (3 way tie) have a shot at winning the Big 10, but I think they will fall. Mainly, I think they will fall this weekend when they face Nebraska. This loss will damn the Wildcats out of the Rose Bowl. They simply cannot afford to lose this key game, but I think they will.

Below is a list of the Bowl games. As it unfolds,I will fill in the blanks with the appropriate teams. I will be holding a contest on what I will call a "College Bowl Pick 'Em". It will work as simply as it says ... "College Bowl Pick 'Em", you just pick the winning teams and add up your total. The winner will obviously be the member who picks the most correct games without using a points system. In the case of a tie, the National Championship game will be the deciding factor as to wins it all. The points system will apply for this game only.

Q - So what do I win ?
A - You will win a 1 year premium membership. If you win this and are already a premium member, you may opt to choose any member you like to receive this.

More details to follow as the season unwinds. Keep it tuned in here.

Hopefully ECU can secure the conference championship and another Liberty Bowl bid. We're 1-2 in our last 3 trips, an epic win against Stanford in the early 90s and then two heartwrenching losses in our back-to-back champion years. The second time we missed 3 field goals in the 4th quarter (one inside 40 yards as time expired) and lost by less than a field goal to Ryan Mallett led Arkansas.

The ESPN match for tonight is #2 Oregon at Arizona State. If the Sun Devils take down the Oregon Ducks tonight, it could set off some insanity this weekend. Could you imagine the higher-ranked road teams falling this weekend? ESPNU's "College Football Daily" is even predicting West Virginia beating #4 Kansas State.

Other games tonight... my Houston Cougars will try to entertain some horsies in Dallas. It's Houston vs. SMU- yet another Houston/Dallas confrontation in sports. And for you FCS fans, you got the Hampton Pirates going south to take on the Eagles of North Carolina Central University.

Enjoy your college football this weekend, and good luck to all of your team(s)!

Houston decided to give up 10 TDs and a Safety last night.

72-42 SMU.

That damned sad by UH. Usually, it would be HOUSTON putting up that many points and winning- NOT SMU. My expectations are extremely low now compared to what I thought of the Cougars before the season started. I almost don't care how we do this season, but I do remotely care.

That said, this is just bloody sad.

Time to face Optimus Klien and the Wildcats in Morgantown. Let's goooooo Mountaineers!

And CAM, I just read your ECU Pirates are moving out of the C-USA (sorry if it's late). Where are they moving? Big East? ACC?

Link? I have no idea, although you may be sparking a party at my house if its good news..

Oh, CUSA got scheduled to merge with the Mountain West, but it fell through. CUSA will be absorbing a bunch of new FCS teams in replacement, which sucks.

Many people think today's FBS-level football will be about four super-conferences. My Houston Cougars will be joining the Big East from Conference USA. I still wonder if Houston was in the Big XII rather than C-USA. Still, I'd love to see Houston return to some sort of major relevance, like in the Southwest Conference days. I actually sort of want to see this for both football AND men's basketball (Lady Coogs aren't bad either).

Right now, I'm alternating between LSU at Texas A&M and Virginia Tech at Clemson. "Johnny Football" for TAMU is pretty good. I am actually starting to think Texas A&M will be better equipped in future seasons in the SEC. They are doing pretty good to me. I'm not expecting the Aggies to be an SEC beast, but they are going to be more than competitive for years to come.

I still can't wait for the K-State at WVU match later tonight. That's going to be a good one- and a HUGE test for the Mountaineers.

About conferences: We were going to spend another year in the Big East, but Oliver Luck (our AD) sued the conference and won, so we got to the Big 12 a year early. =P

On K-State game: This is the biggest game of the year, no doubt. A win, we're right back in the title picture. A loss, and I'll mainly root for Geno to win the Heisman.

Edit: I just realised something: If we went to the Big 12 about 4-5 years earlier, and Andrew Luck followed in Oliver's footsteps...

I think FBS will be cut to 80 teams, 5 16 team groups. You just have to make your case to not be #81.

Rutgers moves to 7-0. At halftime one had to wonder if they were asleep since they were being shutout 10-0. They score 35 in the 2nd half and win 35-10. With Louisville's win and Cincinnati likely to win tonight, next week will be the first of 3 great Big East Championship games.

I can feel D3ATHS1NBUNCH3S's heart getting torn up right about now. It' 38-7, K-State early in the 3rd Quarter. Yikes!

Fixed.

Holgerson has to recruit great defensive players soon. A Sun Belt team could figure out our defense.

Absolutely destroying them! I'm surprised. Even the most ardent K-State fan would have to admit at least partial surprise at how this is unfolding. I turned it off before half. No longer a game.

I did watch Purdue push Ohio State to OT - the Boilers gave it away in regulation.

The Irish did not play well, but won... That's what you have to do to stay in the hunt. They were looking ahead to Oklahoma perhaps. If they find a way to win in Norman, they should remain unbeaten all the way to their last game - at USC with a title game berth on the line.
