I knew it was gonna happen...Geno would have a bad game and our D wouldn't be able to keep up. Oh well, a win vs K-State will get us back in it.

Rutgers moves to 6-0 but only by 8 points. At least they covered the spread. Probably will move up a few spots (at least one).

Had an awesome day. Tailgating was sick followed by a 41-7 win, the 7 was after we took our starters out.

Duke = epic failure. We go up 20-0. Final score? 41-20. :banghead:

Did you hear a loud thud emanating from Louisiana? Well, that's because...

DOWN GOES #3 SOUTH CAROLINA!

It was 23-21 (I believe) as #9 LSU took down the boys from Columbia, SC. If South Carolina really wants to stay in the hunt, they need to beat Florida next weekend. I think it's AT Florida next weekend.

Other random notes (not all feature scores)...

* Congrats to Florida State handling Boston College at home by a HUGE score. I believe it was 51-7 as Seminole Nation tomohawked the B.C. Eagles.

* It was a beautiful day at Texas Tech. Sadly, West Virginia got, uh... eviscerated.

* I heard the end of Stanford at Notre Dame on the radio. I was listening on ESPN 97.5 FM here in Houston as Notre Dame held off Stanford 20-13 in Overtime. Lee Corso picked Notre Dame by wearing the whole green outfit the Notre Dame mascot wears.

* Speaking of Houston, Houston's two FBS schools won. We (U. of Houston) hung 39 on UAB as UH won 39-17 over the UAB Blazers. Five miles away from UH saw Rice hand the Roadrunners of the University of Texas-San Antonio their first loss in a much closer game than UAB at Houston.

* You can have all kinds of fried foods at the Texas State Fair at the Cotton Bowl. Well, Texas got fried well done as they got tripled on by Oklahoma. It was 63-21 even as Texas scored an inconsequential touchdown late in the game. Prior to this, Oklahoma scored first; but then Texas blocked the impending field goal and ran it back coast-to-coast for two points.

* Duke was up 20-7 on the road at Virginia Tech, but the Hokies smacked around Duke with plenty of unanswered points. Duke's is trying to be Bowl-eligible for the first time since 1994(?).

Congratulations to all other winners from today and tonight.

Duke was up 20 to goose egg. Zilch. Nada. Zeeeero. And then left the building. I have a eerie feeling we will be 5-7 after this debacle.

ECU, however, seems more promising. UAB next week (who we normally have trouble with, unfortunately) and Navy the week after (they put up 70 against us last year) are probably a little easier than they will be most years. But by no means does that mean they're sure wins. I also know we have Tulane left.

So close for Louisiana Tech. Heartbreaking to see them get so close and then not execute the final piece of the comeback. And I wouldn't have minded to see Sumlin lose either.

Congrats on that blowout win 👍

Things were not so easy for the Buckeyes on Saturday night. They survived a last quarter - 22 point surge by the Hoosiers to narrowly escape out of Indiana by a score of 52 - 49. The win moves the Bucks to 7 - 0 / 3 - 0 and makes them the only ranked team with 7 wins.

A few highlights Note towards the end of the highlight reel ... the amazing onside kick save by Indiana. It was nail biter time.

* Michigan slams the door on Illinois and pitches a shutout at home. 45 - 0
* Notre Dame escapes with a win in overtime. 20 - 13
* LSU rebounds and knocks off South Carolina. 23 - 21
* Even thunderstorms and a rain delay cannot slow down "Bama. 42 - 10 over Missouri.
* Texas Tech stuns W. Va. 49 - 14
* FSU mauls Boston College 51 - 7
* USC climbing back into the mix. Wins by a score of 24 - 14 over Washington
* Oklahoma pummels Texas 63 - 21
* Rutgers still hanging in there ... wins 23 - 15 over Syracuse.

More shuffling of the ranked teams coming up. Going to be an interesting week again.

EDIT : a BTW version.

Did anybody else catch this tackle

There is no room for this kind of 🤬 in football .... Pro or College. I heard that the NCAA will be investigating this one .... possibly a suspension upcoming.

Well, we're gonna fall back a few spots, since we got blown out, but if we can beat K-State and Oklahoma, with all these crazy losses happening, we're right back in it.

Wait... You're a Duke fan? I'm confused. If I've struck a nerve assigning the Duke label (which happens with non Duke fans who are so accused) apologies in advance. Reason I ask is I have a cousin who signed to play football there next year.

You're fine. I live amongst thousands of arrogant Carolina fans, so little jokes from people I'm familiar with are welcome :).

And yes, I was raised an ECU fan since birth and became a Duke fan for basketball and lacrosse and eventually started watching their football a few years back.

The first BCS standings will be coming up later tonight. Remember that this season and the next will be the final relevant seasons in regards to the BCS. The higher-ranked teams will obviously be further down the order if they lost this past weekend.

Should be a suspension. This isn't wrestling or the MMA. Just flatten the guy. Due to the concussion issues in pro sports putting a move where they are crashing helmet first into the ground (and they are literally falling right onto their spine) should be at least a 4 game suspension.

Can't watch that on my phone, was that the tackle on Ryan Swope by the Louisiana Tech guy? That's the only egregious hit I saw this weekend.

Ah. Swope got drilled as well.

Too lazy to look it up, space jump is on.

Some Alabama guy suplexed Missouri's RB.

It was atrocious as well... Payback is not always the best way to act, but when Mizzou players kicked his helmet off two plays later - good for them. His coach wisely took him out of the game after that (might have been 4th down though).

The Alabama D Lineman indeed deserves a suspension.

This is a .png file - not sure if it will embed? I usually embed .jpg only. Let's try.

The issue here is that a moment ago the defensive player had is BACK to the photographer. He had his arms around the ball carrier, who was facing the same way as the tackler - AWAY from the photographer. Then this clown leans backwards, flips the ball carrier over his shoulder, twists and puts him on his head/shoulders.

This type of tackle can eliminate a young man's ability to walk for the rest of his life.

THIS !!! 👍

Did anyone notice that at 1:04 into the original posted video that #63 of Missouri got this guy, LaMichael Fanning, and drove him into the ground ? PAYBACK ? :lol: Yeah, I think so.

It embedded. 👍

It's just brutal looking at the snapshot you provided. This could have easily had a very, very severe outcome. Glad this young man is alright. 👍

Some not so interesting You Tube comments :

I think the outrage over this play is exaggerated.
Amerrican men are becoming total wussies.
Apparently nowadays this sport is turning into a game of pansies.

I love this reply :

I'm guessing you agree with potentially ruining peoples careers? I'm guessing you like seeing people being carted off the field?
We aren't talking about torn ACLs or hamstrings here. Talking injuries that put people in wheel chairs and destroy their careers. That's what you like to see? That's not football,

+1,000 to this guy

Since the BCS began, the #1 and #2 teams from the initial ranking have only met in the title game TWICE. Expect a different 1 v 2 come January.

If you're a Tennessee Volunteers fan, you are probably immensely p-o'ed over Derek Dooley as coach. I read on Yahoo! Sports of Tennessee fans being incredibly frustrated with Coach Dooley.

Another note I'd like to make is that Minnesota's coach, Jerry Kill, had another seizure after this past weekend's game. I hope Kill is able to recover.

Now for a look at this week's games.

* Houston at SMU

* Utah at #8 Oregon State

Any matches you're looking forward to?

Hoping South Carolina wins. Then again, even if they do, watch, BCS will drop Florida to 4 that's it.

I'm tempted to drive up to Durham since there's no home ECU game. I went to the Duke-Carolina game in Chapel Hill last year and got another reminder of why I hate it there. I just hope Vernon and the rest of the hard working Duke seniors get a W against the Tar Holes, finally.

And we better beat UAB, end of discussion. All about if the defense shows up.

Our season has gone down eerily similar to 2007 so far. We had a good start to the year (started 5-0, check) rose to #5 (check), lost to South Florida the week before the BCS standings came out (lost to Texas Tech, check), and if the prophecy is correct, we will rise to #2 and lose to Kansas the final week, like we lost to Pitt in '07 (who are both the worst teams in thier conferences).

=P

Not trying to be rude, but if Geno has another day like he did on Saturday and your defense can't rest, Landry Jones or Collin Klein will put up more than 49 on you guys. I've said that to my WVU fans all week, it all revolves around Geno, which is dangerous now that his ego took a hit. On the bright side, his postgame press conference was reassuring, no bitterness.

I understand. Your right, we revolve around Geno. Thing is, our defense is better than this. Our secondary is much better than this. We have Darwin Cook and Broderick Jenkins, who both can easily be All-Conference. It's our pass rush. They gave Ash too much time in the Texas game, and we were lucky we weren't burned by him, as they were destroying us on the run.
