You know, I feel sorry for the University of Maryland. I was watching "College Football Daily" on ESPNU, and I heard that Maryland had lost their fourth QB. So I think they will now start a linebacker that was once a QB in High School. My Texans of the NFL last season know about the "next one up" deal after Matt Schaub got injured... followed by Matt Leinart... until we eventually put T.J. Yates under center. It's sad to go through so many QBs in one season in ANY level of football. Best wishes to Maryland moving forward.

Earlier this season, I predicted the University of Houston COULD lose at East Carolina. Then too, I predicted the Cougars would have target practice with Texas State. Turns out... the JohnBM01/CAM grudge match is this weekend- my Coogs against his Pirates. This one ain't going to be easy for UH. We'll see what happens...

Good luck to your team(s) this weekend.

I had no idea. That's crazy!

Okay, CAM. You win. My Coguars get pimpslapped 48-21 at East Carolina. So my losing prediction before the season started was correct. This Houston Cougar team MUCH different from when either Kevin Kolb or Case Keenum were under center. We're not that good anymore. UH is going to have to really catch fire soon, especially when they make their Big East debut in a season or two. But again- congrats, ECU. Pirates won 48-28 over my Cougars.

You guys are not as bad as the score shows. Your quarterback missed a load of open receivers, and the defense wasn't prepared for us to have a back that can run for 150 yards.

There were two Houston fans that were annoying before the game, but they settled down quickly.

Could be a HUGE upset now if Pittsburgh can get a win against ND.

West Virginia's chances of being in the top 25 next week are down to 0 with their 3rd straight loss.

Duke is already losing. We need to win out and FSU needs to lose on Thursday night.

Pittsburgh can't hang on and blows a huge lead late. Losing in 3OT 29-26.

Yeah, a great finish in South Bend. I saw most of the Overtime action as well as some of the final quarter of the game. I'm watching the Oklahoma State at Kansas State game right now.

Few upsets this week:

Aside from West Virginia's 3OT loss, #23 Texas beat #18 Texas Tech 31-22 and #16 Texas A&M beat #15 Mississippi State 38-13.

Predictably the Gophers lost to Michigan, our bowl hopes pretty much come down to next weeks game against Illinois as I don't see us beating Nebraska or Michigan State.

Saturday had it’s share of nail biter games:

“Bama struggled to beat LSU - 21 to 17. With just 1:34 left in the game A.J. McCarron led the Tide on a thriller 5 play drive that resulted in the game winning TD. LSU blitzed - ‘Bama screened, end of game.

It took Notre Dame 3 OT periods to beat Pitt. 29 - 26. The #3 team did not need this scenario to happen. How badly (if at all) will this damn Dame ?

#7 Florida, in not very impressive fashion, hangs on to beat Mizzou 14 - 7. Close one, will this barely win hurt Florida as well ?

Oregon State as well as USC kept the scoreboard controller at work last night. Oregon wins by a score of 62 - 51. At one point, the Trojans were trailing by 18. They fought back to pull within 3. They got it close, but that high power Duck offense put it into overdrive to keep a couple lengths ahead of the USC surge.

Buck notes :

Ohio Stadium suffered a power outage about 30 minutes before kickoff Saturday. The scoreboards and clocks remained dark until seconds before kickoff.

The Bucks hosted The Fighting Illini of Illinois in Columbus yesterday. They handled this rather easily by winning 52 - 22. This win makes the Bucks 10 - 0 / 6 - 0. One thing that stood out … the OSU defense. They did not give up that “big play(s)” that have haunted them to a degree this season. A last quarter blunder, I’ll call it a “scoop and score” gave Illinois an easy 7 points. Backup QB Kenny Guiton running on an option, ill fatedly attempted to pitch one off to Bri’Onte Dunn (hometown boy btw), which turned into a 77 yard Defensive TD for Illinois.

* Carlos Hyde rushed for 137 yards and 3 TD’s
* Braxton Miller was 12 / 20 for 226, 2 TD’s and a rushing TD
* Bri’Onte Dunn 13 rushes for 73 yards set the final tally with a 3 yard score into the end zone.

OSU is off this upcoming weekend as they will prep themselves to go into a very hostile environment ….. Madison Wisconsin - Camp Randall to square off against the Badgers. Then the following week we host arch rival Michigan.

From Coach Meyer :

"I've been fortunate to have a couple of top-5 teams; this probably has more holes than those other ones," said Meyer, in his first year at Ohio State after winning two national championships in six seasons at Florida. "However, there were also some great performances (today). We are going to dwell on the weaknesses because those weaknesses get exposed when you play two good teams like we have to finish the season."

"I explained to them, the bye week, there's no rights around here; that's earned time," Meyer said. "If we didn't play well we would have been in (on Sunday) working, and going all week like a normal work week. But those guys earned (the day off). I'm proud of them."
Then he added, "And two big ones left."

And then there were 6 …
Only 6 unbeaten teams left in the ‘12 campaign, who can go the distance ?

Alabama (SEC) - has to face Texas A&M, Western Carolina, Auburn.
Kansas State (Big 12) - has to face TCU, Baylor, Texas
Louisville Cardinals (Big East) - has to face Syracuse, Connecticut, Rutgers
Notre Dame (Independent) - has to face Boston College, Wake Forest, USC
Oregon Ducks (Pac 12) - has to face Cal, Stanford, Oregon State
Ohio State (Big 10) - has to face off against Wisconsin, Michigan.

*OSU is Bowl Ineligible*

Buckeye highlights

Due to Boise State's loss to SDSU, if both Rutgers and Louisville match up Thanksgiving at the records of 10-1 and 11-0, the winner will go to a BCS bowl game.

1. Alabama
2. Kansas State
3. Oregon
4. Notre Dame
5. Georgia
6. Florida
7. Louisiana State
8. South Carolina

Just bump Alabama to #3 and then we have a fun national championship game to watch.

If only.

I have a very bad feeling we may only win one more game if we keep playing like this.

Holgerson, we know, you are an offensive mastermind. Now, recruit some actual defensive players and turn into a mastermind on both ends.

How the hell can Boise State lose to San Diego State... and at home, no less? You deserve to be unranked if you fail at home against San Diego State. What? UCLA ranked ahead of USCal? I'd expect this in basketball, but NOT football! Nice to see the Toledo Rockets make the Top 25. Always be wary of MAC teams. They are to college football like what the Missouri Valley is to college basketball.

Random comments over.

Isn't College Football just great. You never know from one week to another what will happen on any given Saturday, and where one will end up being ranked. :boggled:

Question .....

We are all aware of the fact that OSU is bowl ineligible and are not even being ranked (understandably so) except for the AP poll. The question is this. If OSU were to be ranked, where you you place them ?

We had this conversation at work today and the answers varied from #3 up to #8. I feel that maybe #4 is within reason, maybe even #5. 💡

Tonight is the start of a new week of college football. Tonight, it's Ball State playing at #25 Toledo. The 6-3 Cardinals of Ball State look to take down the 8-1 Rockets of the University of Toledo. There's more MAC lovin' tomorrow night as the Bowling Green State Falcons (6-3) will try to shut down the Ohio Bobcats on the road.

Enjoy this week of college football, and good luck to all of your team(s).

I am pulling for Kent State to win the MAC now and I want Ball State to upset Toledo.

It's very likely Toledo won't be in the Top 25 in next week's rankings because Ball State beat #25 Toledo 34-27. Buckeye State pride is on the line as Bowling Green State will go into the University of Ohio to try to take down the 8-1 Ohio Bobcats. Can the 6-3 BGSU Falcons take down Ohio? That game is tonight!

I've read that Collin Klein is expected to start this Saturday for when #2 Kansas State goes to TCU this Saturday night. I'm sure K-State will certainly need Klein to be on top of his game to keep Kansas State high in the rankings as well as to help his Heisman cause.

YES!

That really hurts Cincinnati and could help Rutgers immensely.

Darrell Royal died today at age 88. Those of you who follow Texas Longhorns football know that Texas' stadium is named after him. Terrible loss for college football and what all he's accomplished. My thoughts and prayers are with D. Royal and all whom have known and loved him.

Tonight's matches in NCAA FBS include the following:

* #10 Florida State at Virginia Tech
* Louisiana-Monroe at Arkansas State

There's also an NCAA Division 2 game tonight involving North Alabama playing at #19 West Alabama.

Enjoy your college football, folks!

And then there were four:

#9 Louisville upset by Syracuse 45-26.

#23 Rutgers beat Army 28-7, so right now Rutgers is going to be in a BCS game and has control of its destiny (which it had anyways leading into this game to begin with).

McCarron looks like an injury rehab patient compared to Manziel whilst running. I kind of want to attend Alabama, but I want someone else to win.

One step closer to K-State-Oregon championship.

Texas A&M upset Alabama. Might want to add that onto the list.

Deserves its own post.

#15 Texas A&M makes its first SEC splash, beating #1 Alabama 29-24. I am hoping this officially removes Alabama from title contention if Oregon, Kansas State and Notre Dame all finish unbeaten but knowing the SEC bias, two of them could run the table and they will both miss the BCS big game.
