I'm so excited for today. Huge Pac-12 matchup with UCLA and Stanford, then the game to decide if Notre Dame is for real...

Meanwhile, I'm watching Ohio State's Bowl game (for all intents and purposes)- Michigan at Ohio State. I'll be sure to keep tabs on as many games as possible. That includes the big Notre Dame at USCal rivalry game as well as the Iron Bowl. My Houston Cougars will host Tulane with UH's sorry 2012 season coming to an end.

Good luck to all of your teams on this Thanksgiving weekend.

Rutgers lost, as did Louisville but it doesn't matter at all anymore. Rutgers will be the #2 team in the Big East and that's what this team deserves.

Jeopardy in the middle of the greatest rivalry in all of sports?!?!!?
WTF ABC!
At least the Gators won. Anybody know how the last 7 minutes of the Gators-Bacon Cheeks game went?

Crossing fingers for a USC upset!

I'm hoping for a UCLA win, because I'd rather not see an SEC team that doesn't even make their championship game even get looked at for a title. The championship game ratings will be worse if its an all-SEC final again.

EDIT: Oregon out, thanks to Stanford's 35-17 win over UCLA, the two teams will meet again next week for the PAC-12 Title.

Florida out with Notre Dame beating USC 22-13 as ND moves to a perfect 12-0. They will face the winner of Alabama-Georgia in the National Championship Game:

Other BCS games likely set:

Fiesta:
Oregon will likely end up here with an at-large bid and they will play the Big 12 winner (either Kansas State or Oklahoma.

Sugar:
This is tricky. If Alabama LOSES to Georgia the Tide will play here vs. Oklahoma if Kansas State hangs on against Texas. Not sure if the committee will want Kansas State here if they lose to Texas. Georgia odds are will not make this game despite beating Florida due to the polls favoring Florida more (cue the one more game penalty as Florida loses the SEC and doesn't make the title game but yet represents the league in the BCS game). Simple rule: Georgia/Alabama/Florida vs. Oklahoma/Kansas St./Boise St./Florida St.

Orange Bowl:
This one is simple. Georgia Tech or Florida State will face the winner of Rutgers-Louisville.

Rose Bowl:
Another simple one: Winner of Nebraska-Wisconsin will face the winner of Stanford-UCLA.

So I'm fairly pleased the Irish are going to be playing for the BCS. I said after their win against Navy that this was their year and no one believed me.

I've given up on Michigan as well until they get rid of Brady Hoke. That guy couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag and pretty much made the Wolverines fairly irrelevant. The game against Ohio St. today was just boring too, although there is some satisfaction knowing that their undefeated season means nothing.

Actually come to think of it the whole Big Ten was really unexciting this year and I can't say I'm even remotely interested in the Big Ten Championship game.

Pretty sweet to see Notre Dame going to the championship, especially being so close to us.

Too bad the Illini aren't there yet.

One day.

The more interesting game will be the Sugar Bowl out of all of them because unlike the other 3 match-ups, the Sugar can range wildly based on the teams that get involved.

 Brady has brought life back into the Wolverines, hell, he even beat OSU last year. That's a huge plus if your a Wolverine fan. At least Coach Hoke has taken you guys to a Bowl game for the 2 straight years he has been there. Be thankful for that 👍.

You can always hire Coach Rich Rodriguez back . That man alone destroyed the Pride / Tradition of the Maize and Blue.

Richie's resume @ The U of M

* School record for losses in a season (9 in 2008)
* Consecutive losing seasons for first time since 1962-63
* 42-7 loss to Ohio State in 2008
* Worst loss to Ohio State since 1968 (50-14)
* School record for yards allowed in each of last two years
* Allowed most points in school history (35.2 PPG in 2010)
* Allowed most points ever in bowl game (52)

Anyhow ...

First and foremost, a huge congrats to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Great job from the guys from South Bend ... 12-0, nicely done. 👍

Congrats to Monte Ball (RB Wisconsin Badgers) ... 79 career TD's. A new NCAA record.

Congrats to Penn State (8-4 / 6-2) on a fine season which some (including myself) thought this team was doomed right from the getgo. Banned from postseason play, but none the less, they went out there and gave it hell. Good job Lions 👍.

On to the Bucks. 12-0, what a ride. It was rough at times, but we made it. Some will say it was all for not, however it just goes to show what a team can do when faced with adversity. Going into the '12 season, they (OSU and Urban Meyer) knew that this team was going to only play 12 games and then go home. No Big 10 title game, no Bowl Game ... nothing. 12 and out. For this team, capping off the '12 season with a win over rival Michigan to punctuate the season with a 12-0 mark was remarkable. Great job Buckeyes, see you in '13.

'13 will bring the loss of 21 players to the Buckeyes. Even with the graduation of these Seniors, next years OSU Bucks will be just as talented. Look for the Bucks at the top :D.

WVU Season In Review

Week 1 - vs. Marshall
W 69-34

A win, like I expected, though I wasn't pleased with the amount of points we gave up. Sadly, that was a sign of things to come.

Week 2 - vs. James Madison (FedEx Field)
W 42-9

Pretty good win overall, but it's James Madison. We should've won.

Week 3 - vs. Maryland
W 31-21

Really an ugly win. We looked absolutely flat that entire game. Lucky to pull that one out.

Week 4 - vs. Baylor
W 70-63

The game that put us in the spotlight, both in a good way and bad way. Geno passed for EIGHT TDs, but our defense was absolutely terrible against Nick Florence.

Week 5 - @ Texas
W 48-45

Our entrance exam to the conference. We passed, but just barely. If it weren't for a Texas offensive screw up and a three and out by us (shocking, I know!), we could've very easily lost the game.

Week 6 - @ Texas Tech
L 14-49

Entire game was flat out UGLY. Defense didn't do anything, Geno had an off day, and Stedman (our wideout) got hurt. Crappy day for Mountaineer Nation.

Week 7 - vs. Kansas State
L 14-55

This is it.
The game.
The game to see wether Geno can continue his Heisman run or have Collin Klein move into the lead.
What do we proceed to do?
Let Klein have 6 total Touchdowns while Geno throws just 1.
Eleven Stephen Hawkings on the field > our secondary

Week 8 - @ TCU
L 38-39 2OT

A good old fashioned shootout, but did it really have to be against TCU's backup?

And did we really fail the two point conversion in the 2OT?

Come on Holgerson.

Week 9 - @ Oklahoma State
L 34-55

Another defensive debacle. I'm starting to contemplate not watching anymore, because now the fear of not being bowl eligible sets into my mind.

Week 10 - vs. Oklahoma
L 49-50

We came into this game hoping to have a positive turnout in this abysmal season. Geno shined fantastically in this game, being the leader, driving downfield easily, and looking like how he was earlier in the year.

But what screws us over? A Landry Jones TD under twenty seconds left.

Defense made us lose. Again.

Week 11 - @ Iowa State
W 31-24

Defense won us this game. Surprising, I know.

We picked up a fumble in the end zone to secure the ball and win for the first time in almost two months. We also gave up our least amount of points since...Maryland....

Week 12 @ Kansas
Hasn't been played

It's Kansas. 1-10 Kansas. I think we will be fine.

Gophers unsurprisingly lost to Michigan State, at least we get a bowl game.

Jerry Kill also had a seizure at halftime but it sounds like it wasn't that bad.

Projected BCS Top 25:
1. Notre Dame
2. Alabama
3. Georgia
4. Florida
5. Oregon
6. Kansas State
7. Stanford
8. Louisiana State
9. Texas A&M
10. South Carolina
11. Oklahoma
12. Nebraska
13. Florida State
14. Clemson
15. Oregon State
16. UCLA
17. Texas
18. Kent State
19. Boise State
20. Northern Illinois
21. Northwestern
22. Michigan
23. Oklahoma State
24. Louisville
25. Rutgers

If only Rutgers had won (sigh). Automatic BCS berth would have been clinched and they'd look even better if Kent State won the MAC and their only loss was to another BCS Bowl-Bound team.

You know, I feel for Coach Jerry Kill for Minnesota. Credit the guy for hanging in there coaching, but I wonder if he should probably step away from coaching with these seizures he has.

There are still a few games left on the season. Among others is the traditional Army vs. Navy game (both are winners regardless of whom has a better record) and the various conference championship games. The season's wrapping up and transitioning to the Bowl season.

[UPDATE] My Houston Cougars ended their sorry ass 2012 season with a 40-17 win over Tulane at home. I think we'll be playing our home games at lovely Reliant Stadium either while Robertson Stadium gets renovated or something like that. We'll be in the Big East next season or so. The 2012 UH Cougars finished 5-7 on the season.

The Notre Dame excitement here in Indy is huge, and the game is 6 WEEKS away! Funny how some still question their credentials...

According to the NCAA Schedule difficulty rankings, the Irish schedule was the 14th toughest in the nation, and TOUGHER than both Alabama and Georgia. Not only that but the Irish held five strong teams to low point totals... In fact when these teams played the Irish defense, they scored fewer points than they have against any team all year.

Stanford - Oklahoma - USC - Michigan - Michgan State - Miami - and there are others as well, but those are the big ones.

I'm having fun with a few Ohio State fans here - the Buckeyes gave up 49 or something to INDIANA. Notre Dame gave up a similar amount to Stanford-Oklahoma-Michigan-Miami-Mich State....combined.

So you want to be a coach in college football? ESPNU's "College Football Daily" reported on multiple firings at several universities. Among others: Auburn, North Carolina State, Colorado... I swore the show started off with news of at least five head coaches getting fired at five different schools. You can add these coaches to several others whom have been fired this season, including Dooley at Tennessee among others.

Congratulations to Ohio State and Notre Dame on their successes this season. If your team(s) is/are playing this week, good luck to your team(s) this week.

[UPDATE] Here are some of the many FBS schools that fired their coaches presently and in the past: Arkansas, Boston College, California, Colorado, Kentucky, North Carolina State, Purdue, and Tennessee. Again- you REALLY want to be a college football head coach?

Word has it that Tulane University is considering a move to the Big East, and East Carolina is also reportedly heading to the Big East- for football only. Tulane has been in loads of financial trouble since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. I am not sure how this would play out for the New Orleans school. I'm probably guessing East Carolina is ready to show they belong on the football side, so they would probably help in recruiting and such. ECU may also be pretty happy in C-USA for just about all of their sports except football. Whether or not ECU eventually goes the route of schools like South Florida, Louisville, Cincinnati, and (in basketball) Marquette- in terms of C-USA schools going to the Big East for all sports- that remains to be seen.

Both Tulane and ECU are Conference USA schools at present. Next thing you know it, several more former C-USA schools will be Big East schools.

[UPDATE] I found out a few minutes ago that Tulane and East Carolina will join the Big East starting in the 2014 season. So there you go.

If the move is made for next year, it will be only 1 year where the Big East holds more relevance than C-USA.

Praise!! So happy. This means when FBS is cut from 120 to 80 teams we will have a much greater chance of staying up. And Big East, believe it or not, will see some great matchups. Depending on if Louisville is in the East Division, I can see ECU competing for a championship in the first season. I can't wait for Boise to come to Greenville for a rematch of our win in Hawaii in '07.

Wonderful day to be a Pirate!! That link has been in my sig long enough for this day to come :).

It was hard to sleep at nights imagining our beautiful 50,000 (soon to be expanded further) seat stadium sitting in irrelevance because the powers that be sent us to FCS. Now, hopefully this will not happen and I can watch the Pirates of tomorrow play for the big prize 👍.

It's official, press conference has concluded. I'm pretty mad my freshman year in college will be our first year of BCSness, but I hope to spend football Saturdays in the friendly confines. I can't wait to play USF and hopefully grind Skip Holtz's dirty, lying nose in the turf, continue playing Central Florida, and play fun new teams like SDSU and Boise.

First season for ECU in the Big East will be in 2014.

Meanwhile, Louisville will not be there as they will be gone to the ACC.

Maybe some ECU-WVU rematches? =P

Notre Dame Football is #1, Indiana University Basketball is #1. Tonight is a new episode of The Cosby Show, followed by a repeat of Family Ties. I won't watch either... I'm going to watch The Wonder Years instead and maybe go see Goonies with that cute girl in the neighborhood.

...in more relevant news, Les Miles will up his coaching mileage at LSU after signing a 5-year extension. There were reports that he was offered a deal to coach at Arkansas. But, Les Miles is sticking to the purple and gold of LSU.

One Big East school will play in a BCS Bowl game... but who? That will be decided tonight as Louisville travels to Piscataway, New Jersey to set it off against the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers. These are two teams going in two different directions- conference-wise. Louisville's going to the ACC; Rutgers is going to the Big Ten. So one current Big East school will leave the Big East in style.

Louisville Cardinals at Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

Good luck to both teams, as well as all of your team(s) this weekend, if they play this weekend.

[UPDATE] I dig those alternative uniforms for Rutgers! Kind of has that stealth bomber black along with the metallic silver helmets, a black "R" logo, and a few scarlet red accents. Those are wicked cool uniforms for Rutgers.

No calls went Rutgers way in this game. Yet they took points off the board and now they will lose.

And another INT. They didn't deserve to win this game after scoring 3 points in the 2nd half.
