I forgot that Bristol was a short track for a split second and was beyond confused.

That picture of what it could look like it a bit off the straights at Bristol are 650 feet, a football field with end zones is only 360 feet. The field would take up about 60% of the straights.

It will be interesting to see how the put the field in. I think they will fill it in with dirt and put the field closer to the seating level. The views from the seats are going to be horrible unless they put in temporary seating on the track.

Earlier this year, I mentioned that Daytona International Speedway was possibly going to host a college football game. You'll have to credit the idea of various other venues hosting football games. Do I think ALL of Bristol Motor Speedway will pack the stands to see a college football game like a NASCAR Cup race around Bristol? Absolutely not. But, I surely will find it interesting to see how this deal will be put together.

Tonight, here's your action:

* Blitz24's Rutgers squad will head down to Louisville to meet the #8-ranked Cardinals.

* The Aztecs of San Diego State will take on the Falcons of Air Force at the United States Air Force Academy.

* The Trojans of the University of Southern California will have some Arizona Wildcat problems in Los Angeles. USCal vs. Arizona.

Enjoy your football this weekend and good luck to all of your teams.

It's Saturday again. Time to toss around the pig skin, recite some fight songs, tailgate, and oh yeah... play football.

Enjoy some college football today. Good luck to all of your teams.

Uh-oh trouble in the sec number 7 Georgia was upset by number 25 missouri. Missouri improves to 6-0 now I have not seen their schedule but beating Georgia who is a respected sec "giant" that is impressive. Also, Alabama wins the game aginst Kentucky 48-7.

Meanwhile... my Houston Cougars tamed the Memphis Tigers with a 25-15 victory earlier today. The Coogs remain unbeaten. I know I said that Reliant Stadium is the home for UH this season as their new stadium is still being built. However, this game was at BBVA Compass Stadium, where Texas Southern plays their football and (more importantly) home to the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer. Anyhow, the Houston Cougars are still unbeaten.

Elsewhere...

* Tough break for teams like Georgia and Michigan today- both losing. The Missouri win at Georgia was VERY unexpected. Penn State couldn't beat Michigan in sixty minutes, so they needed Overtime... FOUR of them to eventually knock out Michigan.

* Stanford went to Utah... and the Utes utilized a winning strategy to knock off Stanford.

* Mack Brown got several ice packs on his hot seat as his Texas Longhorns knocked off Oklahoma 36-20.

* Wisconsin overrated Northwestern with a blowout win in Madison. It was 35-6.

Congratulations to all other winners up to and beyond the time of this post.

I was with some friends out of town and couldn't watch the game yesterday, but apparently we gave it away. I think I could hear my dad's yells of dismay even though I'm 4 hours away.

I was looking at the scores on google and I saw the Stanford and Utah game and was like did they get the score backwards. That stinks that Stanford lost. Hopefully, they can get over this loss and have a good rest of the season.

Maybe the biggest game this upcoming weekend is Florida State at Clemson. Two fire-breathing ACC teams will get their shine on Saturday night in [the ACC's] Death Valley. That's going to be a great game.

Since LSU and Clemson often are referred to as Death Valley, I'm surprised these two don't play often to determine which is the REAL "Death Valley."

Anyhow, get psyched for the next slate of games.

The Penn State/Michigan game was absolutely amazing. Glad Penn State won.

That was an awesome game (yes, I watched a U of M game). Michigan literally had a "long shot" at winning it in regulation (52 yd. field goal attempt) .... missed. The overtimes were a joke, marred with missed field goals, fumble. It was as if either team was really wanting to win.

Maybe the biggest game this upcoming weekend is Florida State at Clemson.

True dat John. 👍
That's gonna be a huge ACC game.

Something interesting that I've heard some people talking about.
Who really deserves the #1 spot in College Football ... Alabama or Oregon ? Has Oregon done enough to make a statement, enough to take over that #1 ranking ? Or is 'Bama the well deserving one here ?

Lets take a peeksie at something.

'Bama is sitting at 6-0. But have they solidified it to this point ? They are putting up a pretty decent amounts of offensive points (219), and the defense is holding pretty tight (66 points allowed). They have played some cupcake and formidable opponents.

31-10 over Virginia Tech
49-42 over Texas A&M
31-6 over Colorado State
25-0 over Ole Miss
45-3 over Georgia State
48-7 over Kentucky

Lets look at the 6-0 Ducks up to this point. They've racked up 341 offensive points and have gave up 83 points . They too have played some formidable and cupcake opponents.

66-3 over Nicholls State
59-10 over Virginia
59-14 over Tennessee
55-16 over California
57-16 over Colorado
45-24 over Washington

Who has / is making a better statement ? Strength of schedule (up to this point) is fairly equal. Perhaps the 'Bama win over A&M is the deciding factor ? Gonna be something to see what happens in the rankings with these teams as the year progresses on.

The Ducks remaining schedule :

Washington State
UCLA
Stanford
Utah
Arizona
Oregon State

The Tides remaining schedule :

Arkansas
Tennessee
LSU
Mississippi State
Chattanooga
Auburn

Me personally (just my opinion), I feel that the Ducks should be sitting in the #1 spot with 'Bama at a close second. Should these teams both finish up undefeated, I think you have to eventually / somewhere down the line give the nod to Oregon. I think the remaining schedule sums it all up, the Ducks have a tougher road to haul.

Sorry nielsanman2, just expressing thoughts, don't take it personal.

To me, Oregon is #1. Solely because of the absolute hurting they gave Tennessee and the subsequent game Tennessee gave Georgia.

I can understand that thought but let throw this in UGA was missing quite a few players that game against Tenn just saying. But I do feel at this point in time the Ducks might get the nod. Bama doesn't look as strong as they have been in the past but we will see how it unfolds

I will agree that UGA is a different team without Gurley. He went to high school 10 mimutes from my house, and he basically put the entire team on his back to win 3 state championships. He was a monster.

I mean, people had banners of him hanging from the fronts of their houses that would cover up the entire face of the building.

Bama doesn't look as strong as they have been in the past but we will see how it unfolds

And that's what has people talking. By comparison, the Ducks are seemingly outplaying 'Bama, but yet they are only #2. IDK ... I think Oregon should be riding in the #1 spot.

As you have said, we'll see how it unfolds.

It's Thursday. You know what time it is? Time to start a new weekend of college football! Tonight and tomorrow:

* Tonight, it's #10 Miami going up to Chapel Hill to play against the upset-minded North Carolina Tar Heels.

* Friday night will see two former C-USA schools clash in an AAC match. The Golden Knights of UCF will go up to take on the #8-ranked Louisville Cardinals.

One game was played earlier this week as the Ragin' Cajuns of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette beat the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 37-20 in Bowling Green, KY.

Go enjoy some college football. And while you're at it, good luck to all of your teams this weekend.

* Tonight, it's #10 Miami going up to Chapel Hill to play against the upset-minded North Carolina Tar Heels.

17-14 N. Carolina at the half ..... whoa. Upset alert ? :nervous: Can N.C. hang on and pull one off ?

CAM is probably loving this.

It would surely make ECU look good.

It would make Tulane look really freakin' good though...

Miami drives the field and scores a TD with 20 seconds left in the game ... 27-23 Miami. (final)

A last second pass by the Tarheels had a chance in the end zone, but the receiver just could not hang on to it. Tough loss for N.C.. They gave the Hurricanes a game for sure.

DOWN GOES LOUISVILLE!

It was 38-35 as the Golden Knights of UCF went into Louisville and took down the Cardinals. No perfect season for Louisville. Big win for UCF in this battle between these former Conference USA schools.

Duke came back from 22-7 down to win 35-22. One more win and its back to back bowl games for Coach Cut.

ECU laid it on Southern Miss in our last ever meeting, going up 55-0 on our classic rivals before winning 55-14. A classy showing by the fans in Greenville giving a standing ovation to the USM players after scoring.

DOWN GOES TEXAS A&M!

#24 Auburn just upset #7 Texas A&M 45-41 in College Station, TX. I didn't think Auburn would pull it off at Kyle Field. Congratulations to the Auburn Tigers out of sportsmanship. But man... this has to hurt for TAMU Aggie nation.

Sadly also... Houston is no longer unbeaten. UH had too many dumb penalties and an almost nonexistant secondary to end up losing 47-46. Only good news is that BYU is not a conference opponent. It still hurts to lose like this.

Elsewhere... here are some basic headlines:
* #14 Missouri defeats #22 Florida at home
* Tennessee upsetting South Carolina in Tennessee
* East Carolina throttles Southern Mississippi at home
* Duke going up to Virginia and taking down the Cavaliers
* Maryland getting blown out at Wake Forest.
* Vanderbilt stunning #15 Georgia in Nashville
* #9 UCLA goes up to #13 Stanford and lose at the Cardinal.
* #4 Ohio State hangs tough to beat Iowa 34-24.
* Basketball on grass, and Michigan wins at home 63-47 over Indiana.

Cogratulations to all other winners up to and beyond the time of this post.

DOWN GOES CLEMSON!

Well, No. 5 Florida State at No. 3 Clemson was entertaining... for a few minutes. This one seemed over before it started with the first play of the game- the Clemson Tigers' fumble that led to a Florida State touchdown. Clemson's demolition by Florida State felt like turning a nightclub party into a funeral. Clemson NEVER led at any point of this game as the Seminoles just ran away with this one. This junk wasn't even close!

Either Clemson just failed every which way, or Florida State was just the truth. Either way, I can only utter one word- wow.

Add LSU to the "DOWN GOES... !" list along with the likes of Texas A&M, Louisville, and other highly-ranked teams that fell this week. They couldn't hang with Ole Miss at Ole Miss thanks to a clutch field goal by the Rebels.

Clemson does what they usually do in situations like these come up short. I'm not a Clemson fan but I have watched them for awhile & it always seem this is what they do. I thought maybe the Georgia game was turning point for them but their last two games they looked very pedestrian so I thought might lose but it would be close. Last night they looked they didn't belong on the field with FSU. I finally got to the FSU qb Winston and he looked pretty good.
