Competitive Racing License

Would you mind posting your stats? And of the 90 online races how many completed?

The licenses might not be linked to completed races afterall...
Not at home right now. If I remember correctly two DNFs so almost all completed.

Then the licenses must surely look at something different to the amount of completed races...

If that’s the case then I was right in thinking that these below are just a bunch of made up numbers... I haven’t ever seen it stated anywhere so far, hence my questioning of it’s source and no response to it.

The list is: Amateur = 50 completed online races regardless of safety or position
Pro-Am = 100 completed online races regardless of safety or position
Pro = 200 completed online races regardless of safety or position
Veteran = 350 completed online races regardless of safety or position

I'm at 55 completed races, and I still have a blue stripe.

SMS' license page says seniority is "calculated purely on time", so your online hours played could be the figure to keep an eye on.

Went back to my vids from last week where i received the brown ribbon and it was ~ 54 completed races and 12 hour online

Here is my stats. Also don't think it is time based...saw a guy with over 300 races in only 17 hours spent online with a gold ribbon.

As you can see as well I've got 50 completed online races in 15 hours.
My actual safety rating is C but it didn't sync online as network features were disabled due to the patch downloading.

Just went live (edit: neither I nor anyone at SMS have anything to do with the content of this video...well maybe except the guy at 2:30 ... seen him before somewhere...)

It´s interesting because 90% or so of the online races are 5 lappers, and it´s amazing how much even A or B rated drivers are impatient in the start of the races.

I guess harsher penalties on lap one could be a thing? Right now the worst that can happen is to get a driver warning, same thing you would happen if you spin or any individual mistake.

Also, something to look into might be how ready cars are at the start of the race. As the video said, you are not up to temperatures at the start of the race.

When you have a manual warm up lap you can get the brakes up to 150 or so, but the auto start gives you with 550, there´s no way to get the car so ready in only one lap in most cases. Maybe tire temps and brake temps could be pre set at a lower value, the ones you get when you manually do the warm up lap.

Anyways, just throwing some ideas out the window, i guess there´s always room for improvement.

is I am 138 online races away from my veteran trophy and hence my platinum. Once I have it I will trade the game.

I'm curious. I've seen you posted several times you want the platinum trophy and you're out.

What is your motivation to get a PS4 trophy? Do you get something for it besides you personal satisfaction? Genuinely asking.

It's pretty easy to get brake temps on a manual warm up lap. Just trail the brake with your left foot for long periods of time, like all the way down a straight.

@The_American, do brake temps impact tire temps in the game? From my understanding, that's one of the main ways heat is put into a new set of tires, especially if the tire change happens under SC, and the driver can't attack right away to get energy into the tire. Brakes --> Wheel --> Tire. Is that simulated in game?

@The_American
Can you possibly shed some light on how the pro license and higher are achieved. Some people say it is the amount of completed online races, other say the amount of time spent online etc. but going by the stats posted in this thread none of these theories seem to be correct.

Since you have asked nicely :-) No I get nothing for an eTrophy apart from personal satisfaction and of course bragging rights.

The motivation is I like to win (don't we all?) and beat the game. I am a gamer from way back and and before that a motorcycle racer and then competitive windsurfer.

SMS has constructed a game here where there is very little enjoyment for me in being competitive due to the bugs, broken licensing system and very dubious networking. So what's left? Get some trophies, beat the game and then ditch it and move onto something else that I can enjoy.

Now you ask, "Why punish myself with a game I clearly hate?" Yeah, I ask myself that too but then, I spent my hard earned money so I do want to get my money's worth.

Driving standards rating question - if you harmlessly spin in the middle of the track, hit nothing, don't go off at all, the race director gives you a warning for driving standards (seems a bit harsh!) does this affect your licence?

Affects safety rating. Meaning you are not demonstrating safe racing behavior, which is fair.

Is it? Everyone will have a moment when exploring the limits. I've also spun standing on the brakes avoiding a collision. So really I was probably better off ploughing into them and maybe gaining a place in the process.

GT Sport lets you know sector by sector what is happening with your SR.

I hoped the SR was only dependent on actually making contact with other cars.

It’s everything, contact, spinouts, if you cut the track, etc. We don’t know how much each action changes it by though

It's been suggested they should have an option to ghost the first corners in public lobbies and then dock points and time penalties for virtual crashes. Once it opens out there's usually a bit more decorum. Usually...

I guess that wouldn't be too bad if it were an option, but if it was it would be one I personally would never use.
