I have you marked down and confirmed as attending for this Fridays race. Please complete and submit your livery for approval to be eligible to race this Friday for Event #1. Be sure to screenshot front, rear, driver side, and top angles over the white preview background in the livery editor and feel free to send via psn messenger. My psn id is: NOVA-0479. If not completed and approved by Thursday (tomorrow) 9pm est, your entry will be rejected, and @R1600Turbo (1st Reserve) will bump onto the roster.
Do you guys have any more full time slots open?

There are no specific "full" or "part" time slots. Simply sign up, choose and build a car and livery, and then confirm your attendance. If you are among the first 16 to confirm your attendance, you guarantee your entry. Confirmations are allowed to be made immediately after an event night is complete, but must be made via pm, thread post, or psn message to afford a date/time stamp. Feel free to sign up. Grid is full for Event #1, with 2 reserves on queue. If you confirm for this event, you would fall in as 3rd Reserve for Event #1. From there, its as simple as confirming as soon as possible after Friday's event. Hope to have you join us.

Will do. I'll have it over by tomorrow morning at the latest.

Okay, yeah. That sounds good. I didn’t know if you guys honored championship provisionals or what. I’m interested in the championship. I helped run a league called SNAIL GT1 some time ago and competed against a few of your drivers. It was almost the same format as what you’re running now. I had a lot of success with that, winning 7 championships in the Pro division. I decided to walk away from sim racing for a while, but you know how it is. It always comes calling you back. So I’m looking to get back into form, meet some guys, and have some fun doing what we all enjoy. If I don’t make the grid I’ll just have to burn my drop right off. I’ll throw something together in a bit and submit my requirements to have a chance to make the first event.

Been out for a week on vacation. Morale boost attempt for some / confidence reminder for myself:

Novas series’ are, dare I say, legendary for leveling the field. Eventually. There’s a reason those uber-talented aliens were driving around with pianos mid to late season in prior series. Stick with it. Don’t get discouraged by the first few races.

It’s taken me a while to learn long race consistency vs flat out best lap pace. And also to enjoy the tussle I’m in even its mid- to rear pack. There’s a lot of experienced talent in this roster. Have fun!

Absolutely fantastic racing with you and @socalnatv tonight, going to be a fun series...

This was taken from the yellow flag/caution procedure section of the first post.

“10.) NO Cautions will be granted for any incidents that occur in the opening 2 laps or the final 2 laps of any race.”

Turn 1 lap 1 has proven to be quite lively with only 5-6 cars on track. Imagine how it’s going to be with a full grid.

Good point out. The following edits have been made to the Caution Requirements:

9.) The Caution period will be the remainder of the lap if the incident occurs early in the lap and the field can be quickly re-grouped, or one additional lap if necessary. Race Director will decide and instruct when the field is to return to Green, or whether an additional lap is necessary.
10.) NO Cautions will be granted for any incidents that occur in the final 2 laps of any race.
11.) Cautions called and Granted in the Opening 2 laps will be issued, leaving none left for the remainder of the race. In this situation, the incident will automatically initiate a review with penalties being issued to the driver(s) that created the incident.
PLEASE TAKE CAUTION IN THE OPENING LAPS AND AVOID INCIDENT IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE

Yeah, you shouldn’t really think about making a move until you’ve cleared the esses. Maybe even wait until the carousel. The bus stop can be tricky as well.

Case in point during practice race with @socalnatv and @Phlano099:
  • poor start from pole so I’m losing down the back straight
  • side by side thru bus stop is not straightforward
  • correction when wheels dipped on grass and backed out to avoid taking them out
  • 1.5sec back going into outer loop / carousel

If a full grid behind I’m lucky to still be in the top 10. As the old adage says, you can’t win it in the first lap but you sure can lose it.

Drivers Meeting

Grid Business
Good morning to all the drivers who will be attending tonight's opening event at Watkins Glen. We have a full grid confirmed for tonight, with 3 drivers on Reserve/standby. At the moment, all confirmed drivers are noted as attending, and have until 9:10pm est (5 minutes prior to Start of Qualifying) to secure their spot.

I would ask that our Reserves @R1600Turbo , @GTP_Guido , and @Chris Kelley submit their spec sheets via psn between 9:00pm-9:10pm est (submission window for all drivers) to my psn: NOVA-0479. A primary party chat will be open for our 16 drivers on grid. If anyone is not present by 9:10pm est, I will PSN message the available Reserves. If a prioritized Reserve is not online, the next Reserve driver will be offered the spot if available and ready to enter room.

Reminder to all drivers:
All confirmed drivers are holding 1 of 16 grid spots, and we have 24 drivers on the roster, 19 for tonight. Please notify me as soon as reasonably possible if you are unable to make the event. The latest acceptable notice without any recourse is 9:10pm est. Any drivers who are confirmed to attend, and fail to appear, will be placed on automatic Reserve for their next confirmed event.

Drivers Briefing
A few reminders for Watkins Glen:
1.) Be mindful in the opening laps. Be patient, and avoid contact/incident at all cost. Incidents that result in an issued caution, in the opening 2 laps, will come under automatic review for any possible infractions and penalized as necessary. Please be patient, brake earlier, and respect your opponent driver's space/line..they are not brakes or guard rails.
2.) The Bus Stop......: There is no written rule for this section, but I'd ask all drivers to exercise caution and good judgement through this section. Know when you have lost the position before the bus stop, and be considerate enough to back out to avoid the risk of incidents. This series will induce some very close quarters racing, and one slow up, or mistake could result in yourself, both, or many drivers losing position....don't be that guy. The best advice I can suggest, is if the driver on the inside at the bus stop entry (right) maintains overlap (front bumper of challenger's car must be behind lead driver's positon), it would be advised that the outside driver yield the position to avoid incident and maintain pace. Now, if both are dead on, side by side, proceed with caution, and hold your lines...that's racing. Just be warned that attempting to side by side the bus stop cleanly will slow both of you down and almost guarantee a loss of position(s) from other attacking drivers. BE CAREFUL and AVOID CONTACT ;)

Final Reminders:
-Please be sure that everyone is on a wired connection to their PS5
-Clear cache before entering the race room
Lets try to do the best we can to reduce the jitters within the lobby.
Any drivers that are noted or noticed to create continuous issues will be asked to retire for the event.

Good Luck to all drivers, and see everyone at 9pm est tonight.

This is hilarious :)

This is a largely VERY “opportunistic” group.

What you’ve said is “hey let’s all just be careful and get through nice and safe”. What they hear is “Some of you will be easily caught napping when I make a surprise move on you trying to be careful” :)

I plan to be in last place after the first few turns and just have fun afterwards.

Just let me know if I’m in. I think I have something decent to start with. I’ve cranked out a few 52.9’s.
